LYRON
I took a deep breath as I walked into E&E entertainment industry. It building was tall and massive and the interior was luxuriously furnished making me gasp. This wasn't my first time entering the company building since I used to work here as a part-time janitor but I only got to enter at night during my shift. To think that one day I'd be able to work regularly here was definitely a dream come true.
" You must be Lyron," an older man on black sweat pants and matching sweat shirt approached me. He had bodyguards with him.
" Yes, I am," I answered nervously. I had barely made it to the receptionist desk before he walked up to me. Could he be a celebrity? He didn't look the part though and wasn't he too old to be one? I can't really wrap my head around this.
" Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Steve, the manager of the star you're going to be working for," he stretched out his hand and I shook it nearly too quickly.
" Nice working with you, Manager Steve," I bowed my head as I shook his hand.
" Just call me Steve, everyone does. You're a tad too respectful, ain't bad though," he wore an amused smile. Ryan had told me before that I needed to work on how unnaturally polite I was since it could be inconveniencing to others.
My dad is Japanese and my mom is Arab so I tend to act unnecessarily respectful even though I was living in the US and have been living here all my life.
" I'm sorry," I apologized.
" No need to apologize. Come with me, I'll show you your boss," he led the way and I simply followed. As we walked through the lobby towards the elevator, strong pheromones hung in the air. It was no surprise that a lot of celebrities here were Alphas.
" They should learn to control it more. It's disgusting throwing ones pheromones at others," I muttered underneath my breath.
" Did you say something?" Steve turned back.
" No, not a word," I smiled. We stepped into the elevator and headed for the top floor. It was rather quiet.
" You're the one Arnold referred for the interview right? He wouldn't stop putting in good words for you," Steve broke the silence.
" Is that so?" I asked awkwardly.
" It seems he dotes on you a lot. He also mentioned how pretty you were, I just thought he was hyping you but after meeting you, I don't think he accurately described how gorgeous you look...Ahem, excuse me," he cleared his throat after realizing how awkward that was.
" It's alright. I don't find what you said weird at all, I get that a lot," I assured him.
I was used to being called gorgeous or pretty even though I was a boy. Due to being mixed raced, I had a unique and feminine look. My mom was half Arab and half Norwegian while my dad was Japanese. I took on both features but my mom's genes were dominant.
I had turquoise eyes like my mom and double eyelid and even light brown wavy hair but I took my dad's skin tone. I guess it's the only thing worth remembering them for.
" You'd do pretty well as a model or even a celebrity. Have you ever considered that?" He asked.
" A singer, yes but I don't think that's important now. Some dreams best remain dreams," I replied hoping we wouldn't delve deeper.
" I understand," he simply nodded and didn't talk about it again. I was grateful for his understanding honestly.
" Do you know who you're going to be working with?" He changed the topic.
" I'm not exactly sure but Arnold did tell me that he was a top singer," I added the little I knew. I didn't want to sound ignorant.
" Have you heard of Amil Cougar?" He asked.
" I think so," I lied, even my voice couldn't hide it.
" Haaa, this is going to be difficult. I expected you to have some background knowledge so you would know what to expect," he groaned, rubbing his temple. Was it that bad that I didn't know who he was? I should start listening more to entertainment news.
The elevator chimed the moment we arrived at our destination. We got off and I could feel my heart beating hard against my chest.
Steve knocked on a set of large doors, " I'm coming in," he said pushing the doors open and letting us in. A gasp escaped my lips as I stepped inside. It's interior was designed more like a room than an office. Is this what it feels like to be on top of the entertainment ladder?
" I thought you said you had something doing, why are you suddenly here?" A striking blonde man my age walked towards us. His piercing green hunter eyes were definitely something to behold. He was simply a work of art.
He was fit and muscular but also had a slender body. He was definitely taller than me. His neutral eyes turned into an obvious frown as his eyes rested on me.
" Who the hell is that?" He questioned Steve. The atmosphere was heavy with an oppressive and overbearing level of pheromones. I had met Alphas a few times but none had ever had such an overpowering level of pheromone before. Was he a dominant alpha?
" He's going to be your new agent starting from today. I don't want any objections," Steve briefed him.
" Why do we need to hire him? Can't you work as both my manager and my agent?" He wasn't pleased at all.
" I'm not about to die from work stress, kiddo," Steve stood his ground.
" Why do you bother going through the stress of getting me an agent when none last?" He argued.
" Well, I wouldn't need to go through all these stress if you kept your attitude in check. You're the reason they keep leaving," he poked his chest. I could feel the heat of the argument, I think the bodyguards felt the same way I did.
" It's not my fault they keep making mistakes," he scoffed. I didn't like him one bit already.
" Stop whining like a child and accept it," Steve snapped. " The kid's smart, he's a beta and he's pretty hard-working and diligent. I don't think you'll regret having him on the team," Steve assured. His eyes left Steve and rested on me. He scanned me and bored through my soul with his eyes, I could feel sweat beads forming on forehead.
" Fine, leave us alone then. I need to talk to him privately," he ordered them.
" Don't you think of threatening him," Steve said as he got up.
" I'm not some kinda thug, you know," he looked away. Everyone vacated the office leaving the both of us behind. I thought I will better since he suppressed his pheromones but having him stand before me was more than enough reason to have trouble breathing. Everything about him was intimidating.
" I-Is there something I can help you with?" I chose to break the silence. I shook and stuttered as I spoke. He approached me quietly without replying, I wish he would at least say something.
" You're an Omega, aren't you?" He grabbed me by the shirt and lifted my feet off the floor.
" You can't just make such bold assumptions," I struggled to get away from his grip.
" Bold assumptions? Tsk. You're an amusing one," he snickered before releasing his pheromones everywhere. I started having troubles breathing, coupled with dizziness and nausea. I think I'm going to pass out. He let go of me just in the nick of time and suppressed his pheromones while I remained on the floor trying to catch my breath and calm my heart down.
" I-I'm not an Omega," I brought myself to say whilst in pain.
" Did you think I wouldn't be able to tell just because your scent is faint? You put too much trust in your cologne camouflage honestly," my eyes widened at his words. How could he have accurately known?
" For you to have been able to fool everyone around that you're a Beta, you must be a pretty good liar. I wonder what else you're hiding," he squatted and looked down at me struggling to breathe. " I was going to find a way to fire you but you seem rather interesting. I want to keep you for the time being and find out what other things you're hiding," he grinned.
Maybe I should just have stuck to my multiple part-time jobs instead of being greedy.
