"You can do it" I thought to myself as I knocked on the wooden door.
"Come in" scowled a voice from inside making my anxiety come rushing and my knees flimsy.
But I kept myself together and held onto the the door knob.
I had been standing there holding the knob for approximately 2 minutes debating whether to go in or not.
"Do we need a password or..." a deep voice asked from behind me. I flinched and turned around, only to be met by a tall figure towering me.
The guy was wearing a long overcoat reaching up to his mid thighs, he wore a black trouser under the coat. His ash blond hair reached his eyes. His neck was visible making the numerous tattoos evident as well. The one most hyped tattoo was the star shaped, it had an eye in between.
"Do you want to go in" he asked in his deep and raspy voice as I nodded.
He forward his hand for what I assume a handshake and so did I. I seized his hand, and wrapped my fingers around his giant Palm waiting for him to do the same, but he didn't he looked at me and arched a brow.
"What are you doing?" He asked in a flat tone.
I soon realised he must have been reaching out for the knob, I jabbed my hand back and put it in pocket, I quickly muttered an apology and he nodded coldly.
As soon as he opened the door, an aroma of weed and marijuana attacked my nostrils, smoke clouds lingered around in the air, rushing out as soon as the door was opened.
I heard someone inhaling a deep breath and relaxing from beside me. My eyes started to water and I coughed a bit trying to adjust to the smoke.
"You are the one who knocked earlier I suppose" a man stated as I looked in front of me. He had his back turned towards us he was looking out of the big ass window in front of him, giving a full view of his broad shoulders.
He turned around and my breath hitched in my throat.
He was wearing a suit, it's coat hung on the leather chair he must have been sitting on earlier. His tie, untied practically hanging off his neck, first 5 buttons of his shirt open giving me a view of his tattooed yet toned chest and neck.
His sleeves were rolled back revealing more of his tattoos and veiny arms.
His black raven locks pushed to the back of his forehead revealing his eyebrow piercing. his almond shaped doe eyes with dark brown orbs sitting proudly in between them were staring back at me. His nose was blunt yet sharp at the same time, his upper lip thinner than the bottom one with an adorable little mole on his lower.
His rounded sharp jawline cutting straight through my senses.
His neck had a similar kind of tattoo to the man I met before, a circle kind of a thing in the centre and arrows pointing out wards with the same eye in between the circle.
My lower Jaw weighing down and eyes looked like they were about to pop out of their sockets.
He was ethereal, he looked like an angel
"Holy shit" I muttered under my breath.
I soon realised I was practically drooling over The man, my cheeks burned up in embarrassment and shut my mouth gritting my teeth. I mentally cursed for embarrassing myself twice in row on my first day.
I saw the broad shouldered man smirk.
"Like what you see?" He asked with a devilish grin.
I looked at him and gave him a flustered smile.
He ignored me?
"This woman right here likes fantasising a lot" the man I met out exclaimed.
I looked at him in pure disbelief.
"Excuse me!" I said quite defensively.
"What are you here for?" Asked the broad shouldered man.
"I got the job here as your executive secretary." He eyed me up and down before nodding.
"I am Damien, Damien bates." He introduced himself as he walked to his leather chair grabbing his expensive chauffeur coat and wrapping it securely around his shoulders.
"You can start working from today go back home only when the work is completed I'll send somebody to show you around." He slammed the door shut as soon as he completed.
"You don't need any showing around just get used to being here." Said the man besides me checking his phone.
I huffed and walked out of the smoky room, that's when it hit me.
I've seen Damien before. But he wasn't covered in tattoos back then. He used to work under my father.
His aura had completely changed now. I decided to keep this to myself I couldn't risk being found.
I took out my phone and researched about the bates empire. There were long ass essays about it but rarely any pics. The essays we're arrivals from newspapers and magazines.
"The bates empire, owned by 6 brothers is accused 9th time for illegal activities of human Slavery. Case closed!
-Regina phalange 2016"
I clicked on the article but it read 'page not found'. I searched about the illegal activities the bates have been involved in. Most of it was drug dealing and human slavery.
The only known journalist who wrote about the cases had been missing for nearly 4 years now.
"You read all about us, I see"
"You're a creepy bastard." His eyes smolder me and his answering grin is nothing short of beautiful. Deadly. "Yet you hunger for me. Tell me, this appetite of yours, does it always tend toward 'creepy bastards'?" **** Widower and ex-boss to the Mafia, Zefiro Della Rocca, has an unhealthy fixation on the woman nextdoor. It began as a coincidence, growing into mere curiosity, and soon, it was an itch he couldn't ignore, like a quick fix of crack for an addict. He didn't know her name, but he knew every inch of her skin, how it flushed when she climaxed, her favourite novel and that every night she contemplated suicide. He didn't want to care, despising his rapt fascination of the woman. She was in love with her abusive husband. She was married, bound by a contract to the Bratva's hitman. She was off-limits. But when Zefiro wanted something, it was with an intensity that bordered on madness. He obsessed, possessed, owned. There'd be bloodshed if he touched her, but the sight of blood always did fascinate him. * When Susanna flees from her husband, she stumbles right into the arms of her devilishly handsome neighbour with a brooding glare. He couldn't stand her, but she needed him, if she was ever going to escape her husband who now wanted her dead. Better the devil you know than the angel you don't. She should have recalled that before hopping into Zefiro's car and letting him whisk her away to Italy. Maybe then, she wouldn't have started an affair with him. He was the only man who touched her right, and the crazy man took no small pains in ensuring he would be the last.
