Eva Monroe finds herself in Lavender High. After the death of her beloved father, Eva gets taken to Lavender High, an overpriced boarding school, by her mother who claims to keep the family's 'wealthy'reputation. Like a magnet Eva attracts trouble. She manages to catch the eye of the principal, Kim Namjoon, a man who looks too young to be managing such a big school. Little by little she finds out things in the school aren't what people think it is. "I'm in a lot of trouble, aren't I?".
Prologue
It was no lie that Ms Monroe was the epitome of beauty, her face was poreless, nose was sharp and pointed, her eyes were dragon-like and she had an oval face making her look younger than she was meant to be.
Of course despite her age, women envied her and men chased after her. Intoxicated by her beauty, her body was still beautiful enough to seduce any man and that she was well aware of. Many said her late husband was a lucky man since he had that beautiful woman all to himself. Oh late Mr Monroe was envied by everyman who laid eyes on his wife.
One thing people didn't realize about Ms. Kate Monroe was that she was greedy and very cunning. In fact she was the definition of "diamonds are a girl's best friend". She spent every penny that she laid her pretty hands on for herself alone.
It was a secret to people that behind all that beauty was the money to maintain it. Maybe that's the reason why only late Daniel Monroe married could marry her. He had the money to maintain her youth and keep her face beautiful for a very long time and Daniel was a lad with dashing looks that could sweep women off their feet that's why he and Kate made a perfect pair.
The death of Daniel Monroe hit people hard mostly because he was the one who kept the town going with the heavy donations he made. People valued him a lot and spoke good about him, he was a respected man in the town.
After his death Kate isolated herself for 4 months mourning her late husband or at least that's what the people thought. When her mourning was over Kate spent, oh! She spent a great deal of her husband's money. Kate bought diamonds, shoes, dresses, every single thing that was shiny, expensive or caught her eye. Too bad that money she thought would last for a lifetime was strangely finishing faster than she thought and she needed to do something to keep her reputation intact as the wife of Late Daniel Zeal Monroe.
The Monroe couple were blessed with 3 beautiful children. Elizabeth, Eva and Ethan Monroe.
Elizabeth Christy Monroe was the eldest, she was 23 and left town to go chase her dreams of being an actress. Which won't be too hard because of her looks. Who wouldn't want to watch a pretty woman!
Ethan Dray Monroe the second child, 19 years of age. Despite his young age that didn't stop him from making his family proud. He excelled at all his classes and was able to play a lot of famous pieces on the violin. Kate took great pride in her son, it was a miracle the boy was still humble. A lot of people assumed because he was mute.
Then there was Eva July Monroe, the last born. And there's that one in every family who was referred to as the black sheep, Eva was her family's. While her older sister went to chase her dreams of becoming an actress or her younger brother who has the opportunity to become a violinist, she had nothing.
Eva was 17 years of age and accordingly to the rumours all she's just the product of a rich father and a beautiful mother. Nothing more nothing less. It was a hurtful thing to hear as a child for Eva. That's why she didn't have any friends, she isolated herself from a lot of people and hardly socialized unless necessary. Although Kate would never say it out loud she never found a need for Eva. She tolerated her because Eva was her father's gem.
While Kate favoured Elizabeth and Ethan, Daniel favoured Eva. Kate thought it was because she was the carbon copy of her father.
While her siblings had round faces Eva had a diamond shaped face. Her nose was button shaped while her siblings were pointed and sharp. She had dark round eyes with caramel hair and her complexion was darker than that of her siblings. She knew she was beautiful but not as beautiful as her mother or sister.
Kate knew she had her reputation at stake. The money she had left was finishing everyday with her excess spending. She wasn't meant for working, it would ruin her beauty.
"Lavender High?", Eva shifted uncomfortably in her seat.
"Yes, you'd be attending there", Kate nods, "at least it's the least you could do to hold up our reputation".
Lavender High was a well known boarding school located at the other part of town. Only children from wealthy parents attended the school.
Unlike others, Daniel Monroe didn't find the need to enlist any of his children into the school since he felt something was off with that school.
But Kate thought that school was her ticket to being respected in the town. If people found out she sent her child to such a wealthy school they'll respect her, how wrong she was.
"I don't want to go, I'm fine being homeschooled", Eva declines, if her father didn't send her there he must've had a damn good reason for it.
But Kate wasn't having any of it, "what!", She raised her choice hoping to intimidate the girl. Too bad Eva was used to her mother's outbursts. "I'm your mother and when I say you'll attend there, then you will".
"You can't force me to do what I don't want".
Kate rolled her eyes annoyed by her child's before, "sometimes I wonder when you'll understand".
Eva scrunched her brows in confusion. Kate's words confused her. "What do you mean?".
"Your father and I did everything we could for you to be happy, have you ever thought about what he wanted", Eva looked at her shoes hearing her mother's words, a smirk came to Kate's face. She knew exactly what she was doing, "your father wanted you to be a successful business woman but he didn't want to pressure you into what you didn't want. You, Eva, you're so selfish. You never care about anyone buy yourself", Kate spat harshly.
"Everything I'm doing is for you baby, your father isn't with us anymore. Don't make this any difficult for me since I've gone through a lot", Kate sat next to Eva and put her arms around her shoulders, "my head is your source of survival, don't break it".
"I'll go", Eva let out a shaky breath. "That's great! I'm so happy! This news just made my day better", Kate beamed, laughing happily. She peppered kisses on Eva face.
"Great, I'll talk to the principal you'll be starting next week".
"Next week?!", Eva got up, clearly surprised, "that's so soon and aren't they going on a break soon?''.
"Yes but, the principal thought it would be nice if you enrolled as soon as possible to get comfortable with them". Eva just nodded as she pursed her lips, she wasn't liking this at all.
"You know what? Get dressed we'll have dinner out today", Kate giggled picking up her phone to make dinner reservations.
Eva sighed, she hadn't seen her mother this happy for a long time. It brought her some sort of comfort? She didn't know but she was a little bit glad.
"You do know mother lied", Ethan said. He was standing beside Eva making her jump back, he was fond of doing that.
"Doesn't matter now", Eva let's out a sigh, "I already agreed".
Ethan scoffed,"well now wasn't that a dumb thing to do".
"You'll know a lot about that mother's pet" Eva spat, getting more annoyed as he chuckled. She rolled her eyes, "we're having dinner out today. Try to look less than a douche".
As expected Kate brought them to a restaurant with overpriced food. It's almost like she didn't know her late husband's money was finishing.
"Isn't it nice, having dinner as a family'', Kate says holding hands with her 2 children. The kids remained rather emotionless to her actions, either she was doing it for show, they didn't care.
"That's right!" Kate clapped her hands, turning to face Eva, "I invited your new principal to dinner, isn't that wonderful?", Kate smiled, however Eva didn't return it.
She had a bad feeling about this dinner.
