When billionairess Gina starts receiving death threats, she doesn't take it very seriously until she is ambushed and almost assassinated. There, she finds out her handsome personal assistant– Scott, is a werewolf, a breed which she has always thought was a myth. Alpha Scott, leader of his pack, is on a quest to find the rogues that killed his parents, but he's also trying to protect his mate, Gina, at all costs. Once Gina got over her initial shock, she decides to make the best out of the unexpected revelation and take Scott as her bodyguard. With everything they were dealing with together, there's no doubt that they're bound to get closer and fall in love with each other. But what happens when Gina's ex comes back to town and wants to rekindle things with Gina? And when Gina realizes she's at the verge of losing her life and her company all at once? How would she deal with everything at once, along with the fact that she's mated to a werewolf, who she was undoubtedly starting to fall in love with.

Chapter 1 i

Gina sat back in her chair and threw the envelope across her table as she looked out of her high-rise window. The hustle and bustle of New Orleans made for a very interesting Monday morning, and she usually spent up to twenty minutes just people watching from the seventh floor of her company. But today, her eyes were glazed and unfocused as she twirled the chair around absently, a frown on her face. Another letter had come again, the fifteenth one over the last three months, in the same cursive handwriting and ominous courier service.

The same words in five lines threatening to end her short life if she didn't step down as CEO of Green's Apparel. She'd be damned if she let the death threats get to her, especially when she knew who was sending them. To her, it was just a waste of ink and paper as well as some fine handwriting. If only she could write like that... Gina's thoughts trailed off as she opened a drawer and began to look over the previous stacks of letters, trying to figure out how the letters curved so delicately. She was so focused on it that she didn't notice when her assistant entered the room and walked over to her with a file in his hands until he cleared his throat loudly. "Gina, did you hear what I said?" The guy asked, and her head whipped up in surprise as her eyes darted between her PA and the office door. How had he gotten in without her knowledge? Instinctively, she scrambled the letters to herself protectively in a haste and dropped them into the drawer but her assistant simply raised his brows and dropped what he was holding on her table. "Why are you looking over those letters?" He questioned and moved forward to look at them when his left leg brushed against something. She watched with bated breath as he bent down and picked up the envelope from the ground, his eyes scanning through it. When he finished reading it, he held it up to her. "Again? Gina, what are you going to do about your stepmother?" She shrugged and twirled her chair back to face the window again. This time, she noticed as two black cars parked beside the front gate of her company and two men dressed in sharp black suits stepped out. The investors she was due to have a meeting with, and she glanced at her wristwatch and sighed sharply. There was still almost an hour before the meeting, so why were they here? Her thoughts were scrambled for a second before she remembered that these particular duo liked being very punctual, to a fault and she relaxed. Finally, she turned to her personal assistant who was still standing opposite her with a frown on his face as he waited for an answer. Scott was the most helpful worker Gina had ever had, and he had somehow managed to get under her skin and develop a friendly sort of relationship. She saw how he did his best to run his job specifications smoothly, as well as help with hers if he could. She only had one issue with him. As a personal assistant, he got off work quite early and was rarely available for work emergencies. Especially at night, and for someone like her that loved being active at the night, that was a big minus. Still, she couldn't deny how efficient he was in managing her day-to-day activities, and she wouldn't trade his input for anything. "I don't know," she answered and flipped a loose strand of her finger over her ears as she twisted the edge of her nail in her hands. "I know for sure that she's the culprit, but without evidence, I can't do anything." Gina's stepmother had been vying for the office she now sat in ever since she could remember, and as soon as her father died, the woman tried to take everything away and leave Gina out of it. But, her father's love was thicker than it seemed at surface level, and everyone was surprised including herself when he left the company in charge of her young hands. At twenty-one and fresh out of business school, she had returned home from business school in Canada to learn of her father's death. She had not even been given proper time to grieve before the task of handling Green's Apparel was placed on her shoulders. Gina remembered with a small shake of her head, how her stepmother had fought against her becoming the CEO but her father's wish had been set gravelly in stone. Now six years later and with several achievements to her name as well as massive growth in the company, the woman decided to go all out and start threatening her life. Gina had resolved to fight for her legacy with everything she had, even if it meant her death. She heard a noise around her and brought her focus to the present, just as her personal assistant started to hit the table lightly again with his hand. She gave him a small frown and he sighed lightly. "Are you alright though? You seem...shaken." Gina barked out a short laugh."Of course, I'm shaken. Who wouldn't be?" She raised her hands above her head and shook them. "My stepmother is after my life, and I don't have any evidence to arrest her, besides this nice handwriting and unknown delivery service," she explained with frustration while she subtly checked the time for her meeting. "Sorry about that," Scott apologized and put a hand on his hip as he leaned over and sat on one of her chairs. She raised a brow but said nothing and neither did he for a second. Normally, Gina would have complained about the fact that he didn't ask for permission, but with Scott, things were a bit different. "I don't want to seem negative or pessimistic, but what if she pushes through with the threat and decided to send assassins after you?" He asked, but she shrugged and pointed at him casually. "That's why I have you." Scott let out a small laugh but stopped when he saw the frown on her face. Shit, his boss was serious. "No offense, but I may not always be around to defend you," he answered and leaned forward, his green eyes shining brightly as an idea formed in his head. I have a suggestion for you though. Why don't you hire a bodyguard?" "A bodyguard? Hmm..." The thought had never crossed her mind, as she always saw the letters as only threats. Nothing more. Besides, she didn't want to seem so uptight about the issue, and her stepmother was probably trying to scare her into leaving. She nearly debunked the idea, but the time for her meeting was already near and she needed some time to prepare for it. She stood up and nodded once, moving over to a small shelf as she flipped a switch and the front transformed into a full-length mirror. "Okay, I'll think about it. It's a good idea." She started arranging her hair and makeup, while she looked at her PA through the mirror. "You can go. I need to prepare for my meeting," she said, firmly dismissing him. He nodded and started to leave the room, but he paused at the door and turned back to face her. "Also, you may need to get some defensive classes to protect yourself. Just in case." Gina instantly laughed at that, trying and failing to imagine herself swinging blows in a karate classroom clothed in a white robe. She playfully shooed Scott away, not noticing the intense look he gave her before closing the door behind him. The investors came soon after that and Gina put on a calm demeanor and pitched her ideas to them, struggling not to think about the increasing amount of letters under her desk. In a normal situation, she would have been planning how to destress with family or friends but she had none. The only semblance of a friend she had was her personal assistant, and she certainly couldn't offload her problems on him. Especially the personal ones that had to do less with the threats and her stepmother. In the middle of her thoughts, one of the investors asked her a question and she looked at him blankly for a second before it processed in her head and she answered him fluently. After that, she pushed everything else to the back of her head and focused on the men that would give her five million dollars if she impressed them. Soon afterward they left with a promise to call her, and she did a happy dance for some minutes before her mini alarm chimed and she started to pack her bags, ready to close up for the day. One nice thing about being a CEO, is you got to come to work and leave whenever you felt like it, but the bad part? The rest of your day was spent at home in front of your computer, continuing the work from where you left off at the office. Just as she stood up, Scott came into the office with an imperceptible frown on his face. "Gina, Dave is here to see-" "Hi, babe! It's been a while." The guy brushed past Scott and strode into her office, his arms spread wide in a hug.
