Chapter 1 New beginning

"Matilda! Come on out, you're taking forever in there".

"Coming dad! let me get the last batch".

"I can't believe we are moving, with all the memories we made here both sweet and bad memories left behind".

I just had to take one last hard look at my childhood house. The place I called home, the place I gained everything and also the place I lost almost everything. I took the last box and said my goodbyes.

" Honey we really need to hit the road if we want to get to Boston this evening".

"Sorry dad I was saying my goodbyes".

I sat in the pick up truck, took one last look at the house and I knew that I am ready for what lies ahead or I thought I was ready. I thought the journey was going to be a difficult one and strain me emotionally, but the reverse was actually the case. Each mile we go, the shells that had enclosed me keep falling off. I was brimming with the desire to let go and be myself. I knew that my mother would have wanted me to move on and be myself. It was as if I could hear her whispering to my ears 'mutchkin you can be anything you want I took a deep sigh and I plugged in my ear pods; unstoppable by sia started to play.

"Wake up honey"

"Are we there yet?".

"yes, come and help me pack these boxes into our new house"

"Ok daddy".

I took in my environment, the house did not seem like much, it look like a leftover of the previous era. The house was a block of flats and dad kept going over the steps, the steps were littered with green moses and smell of something foul was in the air, I wish we didn't have to sell our house. Dad opened a door in the third floor in the building and we stepped in. The house wasn't big at all but it was just me and dad, so we could manage.

" Honey, I know this isn't much but............"

I hugged my dad and cut in "I understand dad and this is okay".

We got to work, cleaning and dusting the house, the house had A small sitting room, two small bedroom, kitchen and one joined bathroom for the rooms. It was not much but the thought of a clean slate kept me smiling from ear to ear. When we were done it was already late and I was damn tired, dashed into the bathroom to freshen up before joining dad for dinner. we ate the pizza we ordered earlier, and i tried engaging dad in a litttle conversation. We talked about a whole lot things but mostly about mom and we went to bed.
