Natalie's POV
You know how as a little girl everybody calls you beautiful from family to friends well that's me.My name is Natalie and growing up i was made to believe I was beautiful and special, this didn't make me a narcissist though but it made me a little bit of a perfectionist. I gave my best in my academics, that didn't make me the overall best in high school but I was among the top students striving to be the best. This earned me more praise since my parents and teachers tend to tell me I was beautiful, hardworking and smart and boy did I believe them until series of events starting close to my senior year in highschool began giving me reality checks.
I've always been friends with Catherine and joy,Although while I pursued academic excellence they were more outgoing, fun loving and popular than I was but I guess being friends with the popular kids made me a little popular too. These two besties of mine knew I had always had a crush on Andre my brothers bestfriend, they had always wanted me to tell him how I feel but I know it's more complicated than they understand. You see Andre Martins has always been bestfriends with my brother Judah and now he is so close to the family that I think he sees me only as "little Nat ",so no matter how often I try to show him how I feel and give him the green light he still doesn't get it even if everybody around does. But what can a girl do if not to keep trying.
"Judah,Natalie you are running late for school" well that's my mum and once again thinking about Andre and my pathetic life has made me late "coming mum" I replied rushing in to take a quick bath, stumbling out to pick a blue jean and a wine coloured tee shirt, slipping on my sneakers. I ran down only to hear Judah screaming my name outside "Natalie, 30secs and i'm leaving you" he said,I knew he was pissed so picking up an apple,I ran to the car "sorry" I replied as he drove out, we have to pick Andre first then joy.
"Goodmorning dude, little nat you look good" Andre said entering the car,I was a bit shy but said "you're not bad yourself","So guys how does it feel to know you're leaving highschool in a month time?" "Totally awesome, time for a change of scene and girls" Judah answered and they laughed,"hey man,you need to cool off,but it's definitely awesome though, are we not picking joy today,I can't wait to see what she pulls off" Andre replied and just like that i'm forgotten.
"Hello guys and my lovely lady isn't it a glorious day to spread joy as in me" joy said as she got in the car,I just rolled my eyes smiling "here we go again, dramatic joy" Judah said laughing "hey joyful joy isn't it too early for cheer spirit and besides what's up with the heels?"Andre asked "Andy boy, you're so clueless no time is to early or late for a little cheer and looking good is good business although I thought you guys would notice something different about me" joy said "and what's that" Andre and Judah asked simultaneously "The three shades of lipstick I merged and the lining on my lips, keep up guys l would be a celebrity makeup artist soon and I won't have the time for such mediocrity" joy replied "oh" Judah said "can I take a closer look" Andre asked bringing his face close to joy's lips, that looks like he was going in for a kiss and I felt irritated "No,time up were in school" joy said as Judah packed the car "oh,that was fast.Enjoy your day little Nat and joyful joy" Andre replied leaving with Judah once we were out of the car.
Joy turned to me "why does your faced look bare" she asked and I looked confused "I mean like without makeup or anything" she continued, I shrugged and said "I kind of prefer my natural beauty besides exam are around the corner" she stopped walking and said "if you want to catch Andre's attention you have a month before graduation and before you know it he's off to college and we have one year before we can join them, step up babe","Hey babes I've been looking for you girls every where we've got first period together isn't that a great way to start the week" Catherine said and we all squealed like we do every Monday "so what were you talking about so seriously without me" Catherine asked "Oh,we were just talking about how Natalie needs to step up to catch Andre's attention" joy replied "Yeah she need to do that, Natalie you need to chill a little with the jeans and tee shirts, you need skirts, bodyshaped gowns and little heels" Catherine said "I meant a little makeup, that's the most important but the rest would do too" joy said "do you know what that means! We get to go shopping together,so cool and I can pick a dress for my date with my sweetheart" Catherine squealed "oh and how is Andrew" I asked "he is as sweet as ever" she replied "he needs to step back a little and allow you ride with us to school, the honeymoon face should be over by now" joy said irritated "wait till you fall in love, just wait" Catherine replied dreamily "whatever" joy and I said at the same time as we went into class. That weekend we went shopping, I practically changed my wardrobe to something a little bit flirty but still my style and with an all weekend makeup tutorial from joy I was ready come Monday.
