"VALNEY!!!".The screams of my mother woke me up from the sweet dream I was having of my boyfriend Daniel.Today is the day I finally move to my dormitory in college after waiting at home for a year. I am Valney and I'm 19 years old.I have three siblings and I'm the 2nd child. I decided to major in Nursing because, why not? It was the only job I found myself doing. I have a boyfriend named Daniel. Daniel is 21years old and he is in his third year in a college in my town. Daniel is very sweet and being away from him scares me . We had a very long conversation last night and decided to continue our relationship hoping our love could "win over distance"
Anyways, I move to my dorm this morning and I'm so excited because I finally leave this 'hell hole',it's not that bad but having to carry a lot of responsibility being the first female child can be tiring. So I'm really glad I'm going to be relieved of this responsibility. I brushed my teeth, took my bath and put on my go to outfit(plane mom jeans and a t-shirt), yeah don't judge me.
I went down for breakfast, I'm getting all teary,my last breakfast SIKE!!!.
"Are you done packing? Are you sure you didn't forget anything? Your allergy drugs?" My mom asked. With an eye roll, I answered " Yes mom". She had asked me this same questions earlier today I thought to myself. With wide opened arms my older brother screamed " I already miss you".
"Of course! There would be no one to send on your annoying errands" I answered. Breakfast was filled with warm send off words from my parents and siblings. After breakfast, my dad loaded my luggage in his trunk and drove me to the airport.I bide my dad goodbye at the airport and finally got on my plane. I slept at intervals during the flight.I finally landed California after 8hours. I took a deep breathe and california's air smell like "freedom at last". I took a taxi to my dormitory giving the driver the address on my admission letter
"Please be good" I said to myself thinking about the dormitory. Arriving the hostel, I offloaded my baggage and paid the taxi driver. "Why is this so damn heavy?" I said, knowing I packed the luggage myself. I successfully dragged my luggage into the dormitory and did necessary registration and was given room 116.
"What are you doing?" I heard a deep male voice and paused. "I'm hearing wrong" I convinced myself. " Why is the door locked bro?". I heard the same voice and slightly panicked. I dropped my bags at the door of my room and went back down to the reception to ask why I keep hearing male voices." Oh! It's a mixed dormitory. Both boys and girls stay here" the receptionist answered
"Ohhhhh.....Thank you", I replied. As long as my room was a girl I was fine with it. I returned to my room and started to unpack. The room had two bunks, I decided to choose the bunk close to the window. After hours of unpacking and finally settling in I picked up my phone and called my boyfriend Daniel. "Hey babe" he answered. Being overly dramatic "Hiii, babe I'm so tired and I miss you soo much" I answered.
"Hehe" he laughed. "How was your trip and I hope you love your dormitory?". "It's quite nice still getting used to it though " I replied. "Okay, I got to go, I'll call you later" Daniel replied hanging up without allowing me reply. " He is probably very busy ,he didn't mean to" I thought to myself. I then texted my parents and told them I had already settled in. Lying on my bed tired from all the stress, I started to think about who and how my roommate would be praying she should be somebody I could get along with. I find making new friends really hard and hope I could make my own true friend in this college. I fell asleep while thinking and overthinking.
