Francine Walton was born from a mistress. His father only took her in because he wish to hide the fact that he made a mistake. Francine was bullied by her step siblings and stepmother, betrayed by the person she loved and was work to the bone without any recognition for her achievement. Eventually, Francine died from overworking but when she opened her eyes, she had realised that she had awakened inside the body of Francesca Grimaldi, the heiress to the Grimaldi Conglomerate.
Fran's POV
How long has it been since I got out from my office? I don't even remember if I've taken my meals today. Work has been piling up and yet my family doesn't care when I told them that it's overwhelming. Being treated like trash and yet they expect to work to death for them- isn't that a little too much?
My name is Fran Walton and I am twenty-nine years old. When I was ten, I learned the truth from my family that I was a child from from an affair. My birth mother died when she gave birth to me. The only reason why my father took me in is because he doesn't want his mistake to be known to the public.
Even though life has been hard for me, the only good thing that happened was that I was given the opportunity to further my study to the higher levels. My selfish father saw the potential I have and decided to cultivate it and made use of it after I graduated.
And now, here we are, stuck in this office room, with piles of work laying on the floor as my desk has no more room for it. I sighed before leaning back to my seat while pinching the bridge of my nose.
This company belongs to my stepmother fsmily but my father has taken over from his father in law the moment he married his first wife. My father is a competent CEO but I can't say the same to his first son, who is going to take over the company once my father retired.
My elder stepbrother, Lennon Walton is a womanizer. All he cares about is partying, woman's and drugs. Even though he has been getting the successor's lesson since he was twelve years old, that man is an idiot. He doesn't understand the basic of handling a company.
As for my father daugther's second daugther with his first wife, she's a lost cause as well. All Ruby cares about is shopping and spending money like there's no tomorrow just like her Lennon. And that's when I deem useful for my father.
Since I was a child, I could understand complicated questions and there's even a time when my father asked a famous scholar to come to see me. At the time, I thought if I could be of help to my father and the abuse from my stepmother would lessen but I was wrong. If I knew that my life would be like this, I would have pretend to be an idiot.
I reached out for my phone and sigh when I look at the time. It's two in the morning and I'm still working. I bet my step siblings are either spending money in the city's hottest nightclub or gambling it all away. Why do I have to continue being their slave? Why can't I escape from their control?
"Should I take a break?"
I asked myself before getting up from my seat and made my way to the pantry. I made myself a cup of coffee before grabbing a packet of cream crackers from the drawer. Should I go into the CEO office and enjoy myself?
My office is next to the CEO office because it would be easier for my father to consult me about me. And as expected, the office of the CEO is much better than mine. I sat on the CEO chair before looking at the beautiful night view of City X.
Come to think of it, my stepmother mentioned something about my betroth to an older gentleman from a renowned family. I wonder why would she wants me to be the one to go through the marriage instead of her own daugther.
And I heard from some of the workers that the older gentleman is quite a wife beater too. That wicked woman clearly wants me dead. That's the only way to appease her restless spirit.
Is there any way for me to escape this predicament? Asking my father would be pointless because after he cheated on his wife with my birth mother, that witch puts a leash on the man to make sure he's not making other woman pregnant ever again. That's a no go.
So- only death could save me? I sighed at my own thoughts.
"Ah, this is hopeless."
I said to no one in particular. I thought I might feel better once I have a little nap. After having my coffee and crackers, I decided to have a quick nap.
But-
When-
When I-
Wait-
Where am I?
When I opened my eyes, I'm no longer in Walton Industry headquarters. Somehow I am in a lavish bedroom with tacky looking ceiling. What is that even, a replica of Sistine Chapel ceiling?
"Miss! Miss! You're finally awake! Call the head! Miss Francesca is awake!"
Francesca? But my name is Francine though. And since when did the servants at the Walton Household ever called me miss?!
I tried to say something but my throat hurts like hell. I placed my hand on my throat, trying to comprehend what is happening to me. Seconds later, a maid suddenly appeared beside me before giving me a glass of water.
I feel so weak. I couldn't even move body properly. Did I fainted? Oh no- I fainted inside my father's office. He's going to hate me even more. And since he's on the way now, I should brace myself. I pinched the bridge of my nose just thinking about it.
"Fran!"
Eh, wait- whose voice is that? That's not my father. Who is this man?! And why is he hugging me. And that crying woman behind him- what the fuck is going on?!
"Fran- do you know how happy I am when the butler told me that you've finally woken up? It's been five years since the accident. Even though the doctor told us that it's futile, but we never lost hope. Oh Fran- our sweet Fran."
Wait- five years since the accident?! This situation is giving me a headache. When this man finally pulled away from hugging me, I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror that's overlooking the bed.
Wait-
Who the fuck is that?! Is that me?! I waved at the mirror and realised that it's me! Since when did I have black hair?! And who owned this face?! I- have I- no- it only happens in movies or novel. Is it not?!
Have I transmigrated into another person body?! Then what happened to my original body? And what happened to this person soul?!
Is the original owner of this body died? But how did I ended up in her body?!
"Fran, do you remember us? It's mommy and daddy."
I turned my attention to the woman sitting on the bed.
"What's your name?"
The woman seems confused and at the same has a slight painful expression in her eyes.
"My name is Aubrey and this is Geoffrey. We are your parents."
Aubrey and Geoffrey? I don't recalled knowing these couple before.
"What happened to me?"
I asked.
"Five years ago, you were involved it a terrible accident. We believed that someone tried to sabotaged your car. Luckily you survive but it ended up putting you into a deep coma. Five years has passed and you finally open your eyes. It's okay, honey. The doctor is on his way. He should know what to do."
I-
I-
What should I do now?
