Equinox's POV:
Billy immediately pulled us and hid us. Toni came out to meet the police. But what about the two children who were left outside? I knew Adam wasn't going to speak but he might be nervous.
"What do you need?" Toni smiled openly at the police. Jesse and I are watching here on the CCTV monitor. I feel Jesse's deep breathing.
"This guy is our target," the policeman said and pulled out a photograph.
My eyes widened because it was me. That's a truck shot, shit! Turns out there was a CCTV on the truck that I rode out of the Project Melos site! Couldn't they have followed me?
"Oh, I don't see anyone who looks like that, sir. It certainly attracts attention because it's handsome. Well, when I see it, I'll call the number right away. Just leave a copy," Toni said smiling at the police.
The fat policeman nodded and gave Toni a copy. Next, the police looked at the twins.
"They're Adam–"
Jesse was about to speak when I immediately covered her mouth. We can't make any noise, we might get caught.
"You children, have you seen this man?" the police asked the brothers.
"No," Adam answered while Koko just stared.
"Why don't you want to talk huh?" the policeman asked Koko arrogantly. I might wring that fat man's neck. Who threatened the child to be answered?
"My brother is a pipe, sir. I'm sorry," Adam said straight away.
The fat policeman moved away and stared at the shop again. After a minute of looking around the pet shop, he came out. Toni waited a few minutes before letting us out to make sure the police wouldn't come back.
"What does that mean, Billy? You're hiding them? Oh, that's a mess. It's been said and this one's face is familiar," Toni asked Billy while pointing at me.
"I'm helping them with the mission, Pareng Toni. Don't be noisy and I know I can trust you. Also, I have a good reason. Let me and I'll tell you the story the next time we meet," Billy answered him.
"Oh he's fine, go ahead. Be alert around and bring this paper," said Toni.
Billy, Jesse, and the kids thanked him before we left. We all bowed as we walked under the sunlight. Very hot and really burns the skin. The hot weather is more intense because the tree is scarce all over the world. The ones planted inside each country's barrier are often fake.
After we finished shopping, we returned to Billy's car. We immediately went inside and sat down. I sat in the back next to Jesse because Billy instructed. Maybe at every checkpoint we pass the camera will capture. I might be found.
It took us another half hour to get home. We immediately arranged the shopping. We tear apart what should be together. Billy forgot to buy groceries, so he said he would leave first to buy them later. It is said that he leaves in the evenings so that there are not many people outside.
After we arranged the shopping, we put it aside. I don't know the exact date of our visit to Billy's friend but I hope it will be early. Because we shouldn't waste any time. Every running hour counts.
Dinner came so Jesse took the initiative to cook. I found out that he was a good cook especially and I remembered that he has Filipino blood. I really like Pinoy food.
"Uhm Billy, I'm going to mess with your kitchen. I'm going to cook and use the ingredients you have left in the kitchen," Jesse said goodbye to Billy.
"Alright, just walk. Even if you eat it. You're still good and kind to say goodbye. Equinox just got it and I'm running out of food," Billy acted.
"I'm not even messing with your refrigerator. Have a daydream," I said shaking my head.
I just followed Jesse into the kitchen. I look at the vegetables he is taking. It's all vegetables, what will he cook? It's guaranteed to be delicious. I have confidence in this girl's cooking skills. There's nothing in survival awareness because it's always bad.
"What are you going to cook?" I asked Jesse.
"Hmm, maybe it's just pakbet. There's only half of the pork in Billy's fridge. Then there's vegetables to cook pakbet. It's delicious and nutritious, it's also my favorite, especially when my mom cooks it," he said happily. answer.
Jesse is in a good mood and her joy can be seen right now. He was still smiling while eating vegetables. He seems to remember something from his past or maybe it's a good memory. It's good that he smiles when he remembers the past. When I am the one who remembers my past, I only get hurt and try to forget everything. Too brutal, too dramatic. Things that should be buried in the past.
I shook my head, I'm too old for drama. When Jesse cooked, that's when my spirit woke up. His sauteed garlic and onions are very fragrant. It smells so good when you smell something cooking. I'm hungry, I want to eat right away.
"It smells good," I praised. I'm only mean sometimes so I hope he can at least appreciate it.
"Sauteed garlic and onions are really fragrant," he answered. Not bad for what I expected Jesse's answer to be.
I noticed that he ran out of oil so he got scissors and a new sachet of oil. When he cut it, he cut his hand. I immediately stood up and approached him.
"What the hell is that, tsk. You're not being careful," I said annoyed.
"It will get better soon," answered Jesse.
I can see Jesse's wound healing quickly. It's like nothing really happened there cut or anything. It's true that Jesse is recovering faster than all of us members of The Ones. Jesse is sure to have hidden abilities. Ability is unique to everyone. It hasn't even come out yet or possibly he doesn't know what it is yet. It's also impossible that he doesn't have the ability, when the time comes and he hones it even more, he will be able to release it.
"I remembered something you did, sit down now," said Jesse. I returned to my place.
Jesse's POV:
"What do you remember?" Equinox asked.
"Nothing, do you care," I blocked him, so I saw his gaze darkening at me. I laughed, he was really good at taking back and annoying. I'm getting revenge for his betrayal.
I looked at my wound that had healed. It was quiet for a few seconds. My wounds seem to be healing faster. I remembered Mom when she was worried about me. I remember him from Equinox. He stood up so quickly that he was obviously worried.
Mom and I eat champorado that she cooked. It's so delicious, there's really nothing like mom's cooking. That's why I'm always happy and full.
I took a tablet from the plate and weighed it. Mama gasped when I accidentally cut my finger. My wound healed quickly within a minute and only blood was left.
"Be careful, my child. You might end up cutting your whole finger," Mom warned me.
"I'm fine, mom. He's healing fast. Don't worry because it's only small," I said with a smile.
"Regardless, Jesse. I don't want you to get hurt or hurt yourself. You know the physical pain, don't you?" Mom asked.
"Yes, mom. I'm sorry," I apologized and we continued eating.
I shook my head when I remembered that time when Mom was still alive. I'm slowly recovering from his loss. Thank you for the new friends who make me happy. I was able to get up again and finish what Mom started studying. Our first association with Equinox was further expanded.
I feel that wherever Mom is, she is happy for me now. That I can do what I love, that I love to help so many for the betterment of the world, and have friends that I never had before. Thank you very much to Mom because she raised me correctly and with a good Heart.
When I softened the vegetables, I looked for juice to mix. There is powdered juice here on the side. When I was about to taste it, I remembered that I had never cooked singing before. I immediately took a pot and spooned rice into Billy's bowl.
"Uhm Equinox, can you mix the juice? I forgot how to eat," I asked here. He just stared at me and did nothing.
"Alright," he answered and stood up from his seat.
Billy uses a rice cooker. Fortunately, I had previously watched Morgan use it. Even LPG is better than the non-charcoal one my mom and I used. It takes a long time to cook and needs to be watched.
After I washed the rice twice I put water on it. I estimated the water with my middle finger. When the water was ready, I wiped the bottom of the pot before putting it in the rice cooker and covering it. I pressed cook to start cooking.

"How dare you marry someone else after bearing my child?"
My marriage ended at a charity gala I organized. One moment, I was the pregnant, happy wife of tech mogul Gabe Sullivan; the next, a reporter' s phone screen announced to the world that he and his childhood sweetheart, Harper, were expecting a child. Across the room, I saw them together, his hand resting on her stomach. This wasn't just an affair; it was a public declaration that erased me and our unborn baby. To protect his company's billion-dollar IPO, Gabe, his mother, and even my own adoptive parents conspired against me. They moved Harper into our home, into my bed, treating her like royalty while I became a prisoner. They painted me as unstable, a threat to the family's image. They accused me of cheating and claimed my child wasn't his. The final command was unthinkable: terminate my pregnancy. They locked me in a room and scheduled the procedure, promising to drag me there if I refused. But they made a mistake. They gave me back my phone to keep me quiet. Feigning surrender, I made one last, desperate call to a number I had kept hidden for years-a number belonging to my biological father, Antony Dean, the head of a family so powerful, they could make my husband's world burn.
Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.
