I ran with all my might, every fiber of my being focused on survival. Even as my knees were weak, I refused to stop. The injuries on my body throbbed with each step and tears welled up in my eyes from both physical and emotional pain. "Why's this happening to me?" I cried out in frustration. "Can't I just be a happy warewolf? Unfortunately, I got caught. "You're quite the fast one," a man remarked, his grip on my chin rough and unforgiving. "Don't you look familiar?" he muttered, forcing me to meet his gaze. Unable to bear his scrutiny, I averted my eyes, consumed by fear. I wasn't ready to die. There was still so much life ahead of me! "Haha! It's the werewolf that overheard us!" the scarred man exclaimed, as he recalled where he saw me. Forcing me to my knees, he continued his tirade, "You idiot, you've brought death upon your own kind!" His words were accompanied by a brutal strike, causing fresh blood to spill from my wounds. I bit down hard on my lip, stifling the urge to scream. I had endured enough pain for one day. I was tired of everything life was throwing at me. Maybe the Moon Goddess is calling me home to rest. "Kill me if you must!" I growled as I glared at him. Refusing to cower in the face of my captors. "Hahaha," he laughed along with his fellow companions. "She's a strong one," he remarked, his gaze intense enough to pierce through me. If looks could kill, I would have perished on the spot. "Let's keep her," he mumbled to his companions. "She would make a good trainee," he added, as he forcefully ushered me into their car. Exposed and vulnerable, I felt their eyes devouring me hungrily. A sense of dread crept over me as I worried about the possibility of assault. But then, what use was life? I had lost my home, my purpose shattered. Life seemed utterly meaningless, with nothing left to look forward to.

Chapter 1 Without a wolf

Lilian

The werewolf community bustled with life as everyone went about their business. Their laughter filling the air with joy. But for me, the sight only brought pain, a constant reminder of what I lacked. Born without a wolf, I was an outsider in my own home.

As I turned eighteen, the elders disappointment in me became palpable. They had hoped my condition would improve with time, but it was clear that I was destined to remain an outcast.

Despite my heightened senses and abilities, I was regarded as human, a fact that weighed heavily on my shoulders.

Yes, I was the only human in a werewolf community, a fact that made me aware of my difference each passing day.

.

Walking through the small town that I reluctantly called home, I was met with taunts from a group of teenagers led by Azura, the daughter of the alpha. Her grip on my hair was tight, her fingers digging into my scalp as she yanked me forward.

"Outcast, what are you doing here?" she sneered, her voice dripping with disdain.

I tried to pry her hands away, but her strength was overwhelming. Her friends joined in, pouring sticky liquid over me, soaking me to the bone and leaving me feeling vulnerable and exposed.

"Heard you were planning to go to the ball. I hope you fall sick from this," Azura taunted, her words like a knife to my heart.

As the effects of their cruel prank took hold, I felt a searing heat spreading through my body. My throat burned with thirst, but there was no relief in sight. Panic rose within me as I struggled to breathe, my vision blurring as darkness closed in.

With their laughter echoing in my ears, I collapsed to the ground, the world spinning around me. What had they done to me? I wondered as unconsciousness claimed me, my body wracked with pain.

.....

Upon opening my eyes, I found myself in a strange room bathed with white light. The scent of antiseptic lingered in the air, and the soft hum of medical equipment filled the silence. I knew immediately that I was in a hospital.

"You're awake?" A nurse's gentle voice interupted my train of thoughts as she approached my bedside. Her eyes held a mixture of concern and relief as she studied me, her expression soft and caring.

"I saw you lying on the street in a critical condition, so I decided to bring you to the hospital," she explained softly, noticing the confusion on my face.

As she spoke, I couldn't help but feel thankful towards this stranger who had saved me. But her next question brought me back to the reality of my situation.

"How did you get that dangerous liquid on you?" She inquired, her brow furrowing with concern.

"Luckily, we were able to save you because you were rushed to the hospital on time," she added.

"I'm an outcast, " I blurted out as soon as I found the strength to speak, my voice trembling slightly. "I'm the only warewolf without a wolf, so it's normal for me to get treated this way."

The nurse's eyes widened in shock at my revelation. Being a warewolf without a wolf was considered a disgrace, as the wolf was the pride of our kind.

"I'm so sorry," she mumbled, her gaze filled with sympathy as she glanced at my frail form. My skin was dry, lips chapped and my face extremely pale.

"I'm used to it," I replied quietly, though the truth was, the constant rejection and mockery never failed to sting.

But as I looked at the nurse, I couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope. Perhaps not everyone sees me as a curse from the moon goddess.

"I'm not in pain anymore" I added, hoping to reassure her that I was okay, despite everything.

...

Healing was very hard for me. Without a wolf, my healing process was very slow. Waking up to intense pain everyday, I tended my wounds alone as I had no one to turn to.

The full moon festival was fast approaching. Another opportunity to prove myself to everyone.

Most kids learn how to shapeshift on this night every year as it was a time the Celestial moon goddess perfectly selected.

As pups howl, the alpha offers his praises to her. Every single year, I partake in this event, but I was the only one who finished the ritual without transforming into my wolf form.

However, wolves tend to be weaker during the full moon festival as some loose control of themselves, leaving their inner self( Their wolf form) to take over.

I just want to be able to transform like every other person.

I hope this year is different as I won't give up on myself.

Everyone was eagerly waiting for the festival, as they couldn't wait to see how their wolf form would look like.

In search of something to eat, I decided to drag my weak body to the supermarket to buy some groceries. Dressed in black jean and top, I concealed my wounds as I used a face cap to remain unnoticed.

On my way out, a strange black car caught my attention. The car was without a plate number and there were armed men inside.

"We can't enter the town now, we have to remain un-noticed." A well built man with a huge scar on his face said as he addressed his subordinates.

"When do we stri....."

"Shut up!" The man growled as he glared at me from the side of the window, not allowing his subordinate to finish his sentence.

"She might be a warewolf. They have heightened senses, she might hear us" he added as he drove away from my sight.

What's going on? What do they mean? I wondered as I stared at the black car moving away from me.

I couldn't shake off the feeling of uneasiness as I watched their car depart. Waving it off, I proceeded to the store to get some food, hoping to distract myself. Upon entering the store, I noticed everyone was busy with their own stuff. As I remained unnoticed, I quickly grabbed what I needed and left.

Meanwhile, in another part of the city, a meeting was taking place.

A young man entered an office, his expression expectant yet cautious. Inside, a man with a slightly protruding belly sat comfortably in a chair, with a cigarette on his hands. His face had this this ugly scar, marking him as someone not easily forgotten.

"When do you plan to attack?" The young man asked, his voice carrying a bit of eagerness.

With a devious smile playing on his lips, the scared man leaned toward, his eyes glowing with malicious intent. "During the full moon, " he declared.

Confused by his response, the young man furrowed his brows in confusion. "Is there something special about the full moon?" He asked.

"Indeed" the scarred man chuckled darkly. "Coming from a reliable source, warewolves tend to be weaker during the full moon. It's a perfect time for us to strike."

The young man's eyes widned at his boss's words. "With our silver bullets, we'll burn down the whole place down!" The scarred man exclaimed, startling his subject as he laughed crazily with a chilling madness.

.......

"Alpha!"

A young girl was seen walking towards a man. Dressed in a casual shirt and jeans, he looked as handsome as ever.

At the sound of her voice, he turned his head immediately, his eyes glowing with recognition. "Mate," he murmured, but then he suppressed his wolf as his eyes returned to normal. "What brings you here?"

Leaning in, the girl replied respectfully, "They'll attack during the full moon, just as you want."

"That's good," the alpha said, a smile playing on his seductive lips.

Raised in a wolf pack, Kiera knew the importance of the Alpha. Being the only human in her pack, it was hard for her as she couldn't transform like the others during a war. She had to train harder as she wasn't born with inhuman strength. Despite all of that, she refused to give up. Even though she couldn't feel the Alpha bond or connection, she swore to remain loyal to him no matter what.

Why? Because he saved her many years ago.
