Macy's Point of view
Macy gently pulled her black bag as she walked to the front of the airport, she had just returned from an intensive two-week training and right now she was glad to be back home where everything was fine. "Macy!!" A young woman in a black hoodie and leggings waved at Macy whose lips spread into a wide smile.
"Angie!" The two women embraced themselves in a deep hug and when they pulled away Macy's brows creased in a knot as she stared behind Angie as if expecting someone else. "Where's David? He told me he was coming." She said as she rolled her bags to the car, Angie helped her with it and climbed into the driver's seat. "Well, he received a phone call back at the house and he didnt look too happy," Angie explained as they drove out of the airport.
Angie was Macy's cousin and had stayed with them since both her parents died in a fire back at their old house, now she was practically Angie's sister. "Oh, I see. That means I'll be the only one attending the dinner today." She murmured to herself as she stared at the previous messages she had sent David, her fiancee.
He had been her love since grad school and now they were planning to get married towards the end of the year which was a few weeks away. "Don't tell me you're going to that thing, you barely just got back in town Macy, you need to rest," Angie stated as she slowed down for the traffic in front of her. Another car slowed down beside them and the window was down. Macy had been so focused on her phone that she didn't know who it was. "If it isn't the sweetheart of the Lockwood family-" It was a voice Macy would recognize even in her sleep. It was no other than her arch nemesis, Arthur Kent.
He had a pair of black glasses resting above his head. "Arthur, I see that you have attachment issues," Macy said with a tight smile as she turned her attention back to her phone. "Me? I'm not the one getting married to a man who cheated on her back in college." He snarked and Macy's stopped pressing her phone.
She thought through her reaction while stuffing the reality of her past behind. Yes, she had caught David once but from what it looked like the woman was the one at fault she had thrown herself at David.
Macy stared at David, his hazel eyes bored into hers but she wasn't going to let him spoil her first day back home. "And here you are talking about things from the past, do you also need me to buy you a sucker, Arthur?" Arthur's face darkened at her comment but he covered it with a smile, she had struck a cord and even if he didn't want to admit it Macy already had her satisfaction. "Take care, Arthur, send my regards to your lovely mum." She said as their car drove away leaving Arthur watching. "Oh my God, you and Arthur are not living it down. I didn't think you two would go at it, especially in the middle of traffic." Angie laughed but Macy only sighed and rubbed her temple. "If you ask me, I think he hates the fact that you two can't be friend like you once were back in high school." "It's not my fault, I mean he was the one who stopped speaking to me out of the blues."
She responded as her mind drifted back to when Arthur and she were friends. "You know what, take me to the penthouse, I don't think I want to the family house now." Angie briefly turned to Macy wondering why the change of mind. "What's happening?" Macy's hands curled around the phone in her hand while she rolled up the window and leaned her head on the glass. "Nothing, I think it's best if I stay alone before heading to the dinner, I'll come back home afterwards." She said with a small yawn, "And I think that David might be there." Angie said nothing, she only nodded and changed direction. "Do you need me to come take you to dinner?" Angie asked as she dropped Macy off.
"No, not at all. You've done so much for me in one day and I know that you have to attend to your things." Macy said with a small wave, Angie opened her mouth but she beat her to it. "Don't Angie, I'm serious. I can have one of the drivers take me to the dinner and when it's all over I'll call you to let you know how it goes, okay?" Angie nodded and drove off.
Macy pressed the code and stepped into the house, the lights gradually came on and she inhaled the fresh scent of peaches. With a sluggish tug, she walked up to the kitchen and poured her a drink while she dialled David's number. She sucked on her bottom lips while the phone rang, her eyes swept over the kitchen and rested on the small frame resting on the middle of the table. "Macy?" Daniel's sleepy voice emerged from the speakers. "Hey- what's up?" "Hey, are- are you okay? You sound as though you were sleeping." She asked with her brows scrunched. "Yeah, I was- just got really-" There was a soft gasp in the background. "David? Are you there?" She asked again and she heard David clear his throat. "Yeah, I am. I fell asleep.
Sorry about that, is everything okay? How are you? Are you in already?" He asked all at once and her lips parted into a small smile. "Yeah, I just got in. I-" The sound of a door opening over the phone interrupted her and a voice came through. "Uhm, Dave?" The phone went mute and Macy could only stare at the screen wondering what was happening. "Honey, is everything okay?" Macy asked quietly. "Yeah- something just came up. I'll talk to you later okay?" As the call ended, Macy could swear that she heard a woman giggle on the other end.

"There will be no falling in love, we will only act as a loving couple when we are in public, we will share a room to make it believable, but no intimacy, touching is off-limits. We'll only have sex once a month, and that's solely to produce an heir. You won't interfere in my business, and I won't interfere in yours. You will be my wife in every sense and you will not be involved with any other man," he said, arrogance seeping from every word.
