The city's skyline glittered under the sky as Jane Smart adjusted her dress in the mirror.

She was nervous yet excited. The opportunity to interview Dave Bernard, the esteemed CEO of New York's largest tech company, was a chance to change her life. It was what she needed. Her late father's debts had weighed heavily on her shoulders, and this exclusive interview could grant her the recognition she needed to catapult her career forward and settle her financial burdens.

"This is the universe's way of paying me for everything I have been through", Jane said, smiling. She sat in a pile of clothes, deciding which outfit to wear.

She had left work on time for an assignment. Her supervisor had told her right before lunch to get herself ready to interview one of the most competent business people.

"Now, if only I could pick out the right outfit," Jane said to herself.

The penthouse elevator doors opened, revealing the luxurious space that was Dave's residence. Jane's heart raced as she entered and was met with the sight of Dave himself. He exuded an aura of confidence and power, yet his warm smile put her at ease. They engaged in conversations freely, and Jane was so comfortable that she had forgotten it was an official business. Dave's soothing demeanour made her forget the weight of the world outside.

The interview proceeded seamlessly, Jane's nerves dissipating as they discussed tech innovations and the industry's future. With her recording instruments, she could pen down all of their discussions. And it was time for the final section of their interview.

"So you are the most eligible bachelor, according to Prime magazine. How do you feel about that?" Jane asked.

"What do you think?" Dave responded with a smirk.

'Is he flirting?' Jane thought but still managed to keep her composure.

"I think you must be pleased, bearing in mind all the hard work you have put in," she said, keeping a professional demeanour.

"Well, you couldn't have been more correct," he said.

"Thank you for your time, Mr. Bernard," Jane said, smiling.

"Pleasure is all mine, Miss Smart," he said with a slight grin.

'He has done his research', Jane said quietly.

As the interview concluded, Jane packed her things, ready to leave.

"That was smooth", Dave said to her.

"Oh, thank you, Mr. Bernard," she said.

"Please, call me Dave," he said.

"Alright, Dave, thanks for having me", she responded.

"I am having a party; you should come," Dave said.

"Ohhh.." Jane started to say but was interrupted by him.

"I insist. Besides, you cannot say no to a birthday celebrant," he said with a boyish grin.

Jane's heart skipped a beat; an invitation to a billionaire's birthday party was an unexpected turn of events.

"Sure, why not? And, Happy birthday". Jane said, smiling.

It was not professional to accept the invitation, but then again, getting into social circles like that would open up more immense opportunities for her, and she could not pass that chance.

She reported to the office and was told to take a few days off. She went to the boutique to get an outfit and had to look the part. As Jane stepped into the store, she began to regret her actions.

Considering the amount she owes, she should not be found anywhere near this place.

She goes to the reasonably priced section and manages to pick a dress.

'This should go as planned'. She thought to herself.

Dressed and all glammed up, Jane entered the luxurious venue of Dave's birthday party. The night was alive with music and laughter, and the air was thick with excitement.

The whole place was packed, and contrary to what Jane thought, they were pretty welcoming. Her eyes scanned the room, looking for her host. After a few seconds, she concluded that she would probably not see Dave in a room filled with people.

She felt uncomfortable until a guy approached her and ushered her to the bar section.

"What is your name? He screamed over the loud music.

"I am Jane!" she screamed right back.

He introduced her to some of his friends, and Dave walked up to them. Immediately, their eyes met, and his face brightened.

"You have met my friends," Dave said.

"Yeah," Jane said.

Good, that saves me the trouble. Dave said that and stretched his hand out to her for a dance. She took his hands and danced with him despite all the warnings telling her to comport herself.

As the evening unfolded, Jane was swept into a whirlwind of dancing, laughter, and celebration. Dave's friends seemed intrigued by her, their compliments and flirtations causing her cheeks to flush. She had thought rich people were usually rude and obnoxious, but she blended right in. She was having a good time with all of them, yet Dave's gaze held her captive; the way he watched her from across the room hinted at an unspoken connection between them, or it was probably the alcohol talking. She had always been a lightweight when it came to drinking.

When exhaustion finally took hold, Jane drifted off in a plush chair, lost in a dreamless slumber. Meanwhile, Dave had ended the party since it was an hour past midnight. He had planned it, ensuring a seamless transition from revelry to tranquillity, and after much thought on what to do with the pretty lady on his couch, he decided to take her inside. Guiding Jane to his bedroom, he woke her gently, his mere presence igniting a spark of electricity. Her eyes were suddenly wide open as she took in the new environment she found herself in.

Dave entered the bathroom, and Jane allowed herself to daydream as she took in the scent of the sheets. The high ceiling and chandelier glistened. Her daydream was cut short when she faced the sight of his naked body. His skin was flawless and smooth, as were his perfectly sculpted abs. He was handsome; her heart raced, and her mind wandered. She caught herself staring and shamefully looked away.

"You can freshen up too if you would like," Dave said with a knowing smile.

She went in the shower and lathered herself in his soap and shampoo. Once she was dried, she realized she had nothing to put on. She heard a knock, grabbed the closest piece of clothing, and got out.

A T-shirt was placed on the bed with a towel, and she realized he had dropped it and left.
