She loved him with all her heart; she gave up everything for him; she left her uncle's company, which she was supposed to inherit after her studies; she became a housewife; all these things in order to please him; but what did she get in return? A divorce paper was thrown right at her face the same day she gave birth, and as if that wasn't enough, he confiscated her child, sending her away with nothing. Five years later, he regrets his actions and wants her back, but it's already too late. The lady he divorced five years ago is not the same again; she's now one of the richest billionaires in the country, and now all she wants is to make the man who hurt her pay, make him lose everything he had worked so hard for, and at last reclaim her son. Will she succeed in her revenge mission, or will she end up falling for him again?
"What is the meaning of this?" Sarah thundered angrily at her husband while showing him the document she was holding.
"What does that look like? he asked her with a wicked smirk while caressing the face of the newborn baby that was sleeping peacefully on his lap.
Sarah, unable to comprehend what was going on, kept staring at him, waiting for an explanation.
They just returned from the hospital some hours ago after she successfully gave birth to the first fruit of her womb, after their return, she decided to sleep a little due to how tired she was. Upon waking up, she saw some documents beside her on the bed. Without hesitating, she took the document to check what it was. She was surprised to see that it was a divorce paper already signed by her husband, and her baby, who was sleeping in the baby layer, wasn't in the room anymore.
With her heart pounding heavily, she ran to the sitting room only to see her baby sleeping peacefully on her husband's laps. At least that was a relief to her, but now the main issue right now was the divorce paper she found beside her.
"Well, it seems like you can't read anymore, but I will be glad to help you. What you are holding is a divorce paper, and as you can see, I have already signed my own part. I hope you have signed yours?" Her husband asked her with an inquisitive look.
'This must be some kind of joke,' she muttered to herself.
"Look, Xavier, if this is a joke, please stop it. I'm not in the mood for jokes right now, and can I have my baby back?" She asked him while approaching him, but immediately two of his guards blocked her.
"Do I look like someone who is joking?" He asked her, his smiling facial expression replaced with an angry one.
"You of all people are supposed to know how much I hate joking Sarah Jones," he said to her, then called her by her complete name, which he only did when he was serious.
This time around, Sarah didn't need a fortune teller before knowing that he wasn't joking about the divorce.
"Can I know why you are asking for a divorce?" Sarah asked him while biting her lips in order to suppress her anger.
"I'm divorcing because I have already gotten what I want, which is the baby, and I don't see any reason to keep you here pretending every day that I'm in love with you," he said to her without any emotion.
Sarah just couldn't believe her eyes; it was as if a bucket of water was poured on her, wakening her from a deep slumber. The man who she has loved with all her heart and had given up everything for him is now looking her into her eyes and telling her that for the three years that they have been together, he has been pretending to be in love with her. To her, all this was just a dream, and all she wanted to do was wake up from it.
"This is a joke, right?" She asked her husband while restraining the tears that were already forming in her eyes.
"Since you think that this is a joke, why don't you allow me to show that it's not?" he said to her with an irritated tone.
"Go in and get all her belongings out," he commanded one of his guards, who nodded before walking past her and heading towards their room.
"Now, do you think I'm still joking?" He asked her while peering into her eyeballs.
Once he asked his guard to get all her belongings out, it dawned on Sarah that he was damn serious, the tears she was restraining were now streaming down her cheeks freely as she kept on looking at the man who she have loved with all her heart, but what she couldn't still understand was why he waited for her to give birth before requesting for a divorce, they have been married for over three years and after their marriage, she informed him that she wasn't ready to have babies yet, at first he opposed the decision but never talked about divorcing her, if he had waited for over three years for her to give birth before requesting for a divorce that only means the baby was important to him but the reason why he wanted the baby was something she still didn't know and she didn't care, one thing was sure, she wasn't going to leave without her baby.
"Well, if the divorce is what you want, no problem, but I'm leaving with my baby," she said to him while wiping away the tears on her face, but he scoffed at her mockingly.
"I'm sorry to say this; that's not happening; you are only leaving with your belongings and nothing else," he said to her with a serious tone.
Do you think that it's for nothing that I waited for you to give birth before requesting the divorce? Do you think that it's for nothing that I wasted three precious years with you tolerating your nonsense, doing everything to please you, and all this while leaving behind the woman who I had loved?" He asked with a wicked smirk before shaking his head in disbelief.
"Well, allow me to tell you this: all I wanted was a breeder who would bear me a son so that my late father's properties would be transferred to me. I don't know why the old man requested for me to get married and have a son before taking full control over his properties and companies, and to be sincere, I don't care. I have gotten what I want, which is the baby, and as for a wife, I already had one for a very long time ago, only that she was barren and couldn't give birth," he said to her with a wicked smirk.
"As he said all these things to Sarah, she couldn't restrain herself from shedding tears anymore; she could still remember three years ago when everyone kept on warning her not to get married to Xavier, but she was too in love to listen to anyone, paying deaf ears to everyone she went on and married him, and now she's about to suffer the consequences. No matter how broken she was, she still knew that she was in the twenty-first century, not in the early eighties, and she could easily file charges against Xavier, accusing him of kidnapping her baby, and without adding any effort, she would get her baby back.
"I must admit that I have been a fool all these years, but I don't remember having any agreement with you in which I accepted to become your breeder," she said to him.
"Really?" She asked him before bursting into a round of laughter. With the way he was laughing, one could think that what Sarah said was funny or that she was insane and didn't know what she was saying.
"Here, I was thinking that you were wise, but I didn't know that you weren't. True to your words, you were a fool, becauae if you weren't, you could have read everything written on the marriage certificate before signing it," he said before bursting into another round of manic laughter.
"Catch," he said to her before throwing a document at her, and immediately she caught it.
"This is the sample of our marriage certificate; go on and read it," he said to her, and without hesitating, she started reading in a low tone. After reading it for some minutes, she finally saw the part where it was written that the marriage was only temporary and that her only mission was to bear a son before Mr. Xavier Quim, and once she does that, they must get divorced, and everyone goes their different ways, but the child remains with Mr. Xavier Quim.
After reading it, she didn't realize when the document fell from her hand. Looking at Xavier, who was still grinning ear to ear, her vision started becoming blurry, and at the same time, her two legs weakened immediately. Without realizing it, she lost balance and was about to collapse when someone caught her from behind.
Despite her weak state, she could still recognize the cologne of the person who caught her from behind; it was that of Claudia, her best friend.
"Hey Sarah, are you okay?" Claudia's familiar voice sounded from behind as she helped her up.
"Yes, and what are you doing here?" She stuttered, knowing that she hadn't invited her over and that she didn't want her to witness what was going on.
Without answering her question, Claudia walked towards Xavier, bent her head, and kissed him passionately before turning her gaze towards Sarah, who was staring in shock.
"I came to see my husband," Claudia said to her with a smirk.
