Verna faces the demands of college life, working nights and studying in the mornings, aiming for a memorable experience. Unfortunately, her plans are disrupted when her mother becomes seriously ill. To support them financially, Verna works tirelessly as a waitress, putting her dreams on hold. One fateful night, Galdn Rogue, the affluent heir of Rogue Manor with a billion empire, misunderstands Verna's role and mistakes her for a stripper. Their encounter leads to a heated night together, leaving Verna awestruck by the vast difference in their social standings. Despite her desire to linger in his presence, a sudden call about her mother's health abruptly pulls her away. Leaving silently, Verna convinces herself that her meeting with Galdn was a misunderstanding and expects never to see him again. However, fate intervenes when she discovers that Galdn owns the hospital where her mother is being cared for. Verna assumes he won't remember her, but she is proven wrong. "It's you," Galdn utters upon seeing the woman who has lingered in his thoughts. "Why did you leave me?" Without hesitation, Verna replies, "I don't need your approval to decide whether to stay or go. That night was a misunderstanding." Galdn's dissatisfaction is unmistakable, and his following statement leaves Verna stunned. "Despite the confusion, you made an impression on my bed. If you won't acknowledge our night, then I'll take responsibility for being your first." Verna's heart races as she realizes she was not only misjudged but also that Galdn is resolute in keeping her near.

Chapter 1 A Night's Deception

Verna's Point of View

As I slowly opened my eyes, the morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow on the room and illuminating the stunning man lying next to me.

His features, now relaxed in sleep, were like a work of art, with sharp cheekbones, and a strong jawline.

The stubble on his jaw added a rugged charm to his otherwise flawless appearance, and a faint scar near his right eyebrow hinted at a past unknown to me.

A wave of disorientation washed over me as I tried to recall the events of the previous night.

Why was I here, beside him, in this unfamiliar room?

The sharp pain in my head intensified, making it difficult to focus. Before I could gather my thoughts, the piercing ring of my phone shattered the silence.

With trembling hands, I answered the call to hear my cousin's urgent voice, filled with distress about my mother's worsening condition. The news hit me like a thunderbolt, leaving me stunned and breathless.

In that moment of chaos and uncertainty, I knew I had to leave. With a mix of confusion and alarm, I quietly slipped away from the man's side, the weight of the situation heavy on my mind. The unanswered questions swirled in my head as I hurried out, the urgency of the situation propelling me forward.

...

In the hospital, the sterile scent of antiseptic filled the air as I stood by my mother's bedside, listening to the doctor's grave words about her deteriorating condition.

Each word felt like a dagger to my heart, the weight of the situation pressing down on me like a heavy burden.

After the doctor left, a heavy silence enveloped the room, amplifying the sound of the machines beeping rhythmically in the background.

The reality of the situation sank in, casting a shadow of uncertainty over my thoughts as I grappled with the harsh truth of my mother's condition.

As I tried to absorb the news and make sense of the chaos around me, my cousin approached, her eyes filled with worry and confusion.

"Where have you been? You didn't come home last night," she exclaimed, her voice tinged with concern and frustration.

Caught off guard by her sudden appearance and the accusatory tone of her question, I struggled to find the right words to explain my absence.

The events of the night before and the whirlwind of emotions left me speechless, grappling with the guilt of not being there when my mother needed me the most.

I was at a loss for words, unsure whether to confess that I woke up beside a handsome stranger, both of us undressed and sharing a blanket.

"I stayed overnight at work," a sense of unease settled within me, knowing that the truth was far more complicated than I could explain.

My cousin's gaze lingered on me, her eyes searching for any sign of deception or exhaustion in my demeanor.

Concern etched on her face, she gently probed further, "You look exhausted. Did you even manage to get any rest at all?"

Her voice carried a mix of worry and skepticism, as if she could sense that there was more to the story than what I was letting on.

The sterile hospital air seemed to close in around us, amplifying the tension in the room.

I tried to compose myself and nodded at her with a smile. She gazed at me intently until her expression softened.

My cousin sighed and quickly approached me, placing her hand on my shoulder.

"You should take a break. You have work again tomorrow evening and classes in the morning. You won't get a chance to rest," she said.

"Thank you, Ryle. I need to double my efforts. When I heard about my mother's situation, the concept of rest vanished. I can only rest once I have enough money to save her life."

"Do you think you can meet Auntie's needs when your body is already worn out? Verna, you've been pushing yourself since last year. Do you think fatigue has no effect on your body?"

I fell silent. "I know Auntie is your only family left, but please remember that I'm still here," Ryle quickly took my hand and gently caressed it. "Even though I have my own family now, I can help you take a day off to rest."

I refrained from arguing with my cousin and promptly accepted her offer. Though I wanted to watch over my mother, Ryle was right. Without proper rest, I wouldn't be able to meet my mother's needs.

After bidding farewell to my mother as the dextrose supported her body, I thanked Ryle. Despite my desire to stay with my mother, I knew I truly needed rest, even if it meant deceiving myself.

As I walked towards the hospital exit, the sun bathed the bustling street in a warm glow. In the midst of car horns and people's conversations, a sudden sharp pain pierced through the delicate area between my legs, causing me to stop abruptly.

I slightly restrained myself from screaming as the piercing pain between my legs worsened.

I closed my eyes, causing the memories of last night's events to slowly come back to my mind.

"Is she a stripper?"

When those words crossed my mind, everything suddenly became clear as to why I woke up naked beside that man.

And why this area between my legs is throbbing with pain.

I felt the urge to break down in hysteria, but all I could do was come to terms with the fact that my innocence was stolen by an unfamiliar person.

I suddenly heard people whispering around me, forgetting that I was already near the hospital exit.

As I looked, everything around me seemed to freeze. Even my breath stopped as my eyes landed on the person entering the hospital.

As our eyes locked in an intense gaze, a surge of anxiety and unease swept through me, vividly recalling the moment I woke up beside him, completely exposed and vulnerable.

The man halted as he entered through the entrance, his intense gaze fixed on me, sharp and cutting, until a smirk played on his lips as he walked directly towards me.

"It's you," he said, still grinning. "How could you leave without informing me?"

His eyes held a mixture of amusement and curiosity, his smirk revealing a hint of mischief as he spoke.

I remained silent, attempting to compose myself from the twisting pain I felt, but he seemed to notice my discomfort.

"Is it painful? I'm sorry, I think I was too harsh last night," he said, causing a rush of blood to my face. I felt embarrassed.

I tried to muster up my strength and composure. I faced him, staring intently into his fiery eyes while his strong jawline moved in rhythm.

"Do we know each other?"

His brow furrowed as he gazed at me with amusement. His eyes held a multitude of secrets.

His smirk turned into a grin.

"You were the stripper last night. I was right," he said.

I remembered because I couldn't forget the scar on his right eyebrow.

"What do you want?"

"Why did you leave without waiting for me to wake up?" he asked, a hint of annoyance in his tone.

"I suppose I don't require your consent, do I? I'm merely a stripper, in case you've overlooked," I retorted, despite the sting of being labeled as a stripper.

His expression shifted abruptly, sending a wave of unease through me. Drawing closer, he gently placed his lips against my ear, his warm breath caressing my skin.

I was taken aback when he suddenly grabbed my waist and pulled me gently towards himself.

"What do I want?" he chuckled. "If you're not ready to take responsibility for our passionate night together, well, I'll gladly take responsibility for being your first. That I was the first to savor your essence."
