CHAPTER ONE
THE BETRAYAL
My heart hammered hard in my chest. I felt as if my breath had been knocked out of me. My blood was running cold, and I could hear my ears ringing. My vision was blurry, and the floor was moving under me. The walls were closing in around me.
My sister had her legs wrapped around the waist of my boyfriend, and her hands were all over him. They were kissing passionately, and I was sure that I could see their tongues wrestling. The image was too much. My head spun and my knees were weak.
I could not believe what I was seeing.
I stumbled back into the wall, and it broke their moment. They turned around to look at me. He was naked from the waist up, and she had only her underwear on. Her breasts were out, and he had one hand cupping them. I stared at him, feeling betrayed.
""Li...Liam... what... what is going on here?" I asked, my voice was trembling, and I felt like I was going to throw up. He looked at me, and I could see guilt in his eyes. He pushed my sister away and she landed on the living room couch, her breasts bouncing up and down. He quickly got off the couch and started getting dressed.
"I...I can explain," he said, looking at me. "It's not what you think it is, Abby."
"So, this is not you and my sister in my living room, half naked?" I asked, glaring at him.
I turned to look at my sister, expecting to see a similar guilty expression, but there was none. She was glaring at me. I could not understand why she was looking at me that way. This was her fault, wasn't it?
"What are you doing here?" Zoey asked in a rather angry tone.
"This is my house, Zoey," I replied.
"No. It's not. Just because my parents were so kind to adopt you and your half-dead sister, doesn't mean you own this house. So, what the hell are you doing here?"
Her words stung.
They always did, and they had been the same since I moved in with her family when I was fifteen.
My parents had died in a car accident and my younger sister, Grace, had been seriously injured. The doctors had predicted that she was going to die, but somehow, she survived. It had taken her three years to get out of the hospital.
I guess Zoey hated that her parents had decided to adopt us. She made that known every single day.
"Why are you being so mean, Zoey?" Liam asked.
"Am I supposed to be nice to her? Why is she even here?" she asked.
"She lives here," Liam replied.
"No. She doesn't belong here. Her and her half-dead sister. My parents are so kind that they just kept taking in stray dogs." Zoey spat.
My face turned red, and I felt tears in my eyes.
"Why will you say such a thing Zoe? We are sisters. And you...you slept with my boyfriend. Aren't you engaged to someone else? Why are you fucking my boyfriend?" I yelled.
That's right, Zoey was engaged. Her parents had arranged a marriage for her to a rich man. The engagement had been announced a week ago, and her wedding was set to happen in two weeks. So I did not understand why she had been fooling around with Liam.
Zoey glared at me, and stood up. She was completely naked, and I had to admit, she looked beautiful. She had a perfect body and big breasts. Her long blonde hair cascaded down her shoulders. I wished that I was half as attractive as her.
I could not help but wonder if Liam had cheated on me before. He had always said that I was beautiful and perfect, but maybe he was lying.
"Oh please. Are you talking about the arranged marriage that mum and dad are forcing me into? I don't even know the man. So it's better I fuck Liam before I'm sent away from this house." Zoey folded her arms under her breasts. "Besides, he was not your boyfriend, Abby. You're not pretty enough to have a boyfriend. Don't flatter yourself."
I was about to reply, when I heard Nora, my adoptive mother's voice.
"What is going on here?"
Zoey and I turned to look at her, and Liam took the opportunity to run out of the living room.
"Nothing." Zoey replied and quickly started getting dressed.
"Zoey was having sex with my boyfriend. They were naked on the couch," I said, wiping the tears from my face.
My mother glared at me.
"I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation for all this. Maybe she wasn't thinking properly." My mother replied.
She turned to my sister and smiled.
"Honey, why would you want to have sex with Liam? Especially since your father and I has planned a wonderful wedding for you." My mother said.
"Because I hate the man you have picked for me. I don't even know what he looks like. He could be hideous. Why are you doing this to me?" My sister yelled.
"Honey, we had to arrange a marriage for you. Trust me, it's for your own good. He's the perfect guy for you." My mother said.
Then, she looked at me.
"And as for you. Why would you let your sister sleep with your boyfriend? What is wrong with you? This is your fault." My mother said.
I was taken aback.
"How can this be my fault? They are the ones who are having sex." I screamed.
I couldn't believe how my mother was taking their side.
I mean, I wasn't new to my mother's favoritism, but I was expecting her to stand up for me, this time. My heart was shattered into pieces, and my whole world was falling apart.
"Honey, you should have put some effort into keeping your boyfriend satisfied. That way, he wouldn't have been tempted by Zoey." My mother replied.
