"Nice to know you, sweet pie." He pulled her closer and whispered, "I miss your taste." Elena gets drunk and spends a hot night with Sean Blackwood, who helps her with the hospital bills. She signs a contract, but things get out of hand. Accidentally, she breaks the contract and decides to flee the country. Elena starts a new life and meets Eric, a kind-hearted man who loves her with all his heart. One day, Eric asks her to marry him. He brings Elena home to meet his uncle, Sean Blackwood, someone she never expected to meet.
"You'll be called when it's your turn." A woman said to Elena Wilson.
"Thank you." Elena's bright smile spread across her lips. The woman was sitting in a chair in front of a room where she was about to interview for a job.
Elena considered the interview a miracle amid the tragedy that had befallen her family. Her father was depressed and committed suicide after his company went bankrupt. Their family was criticized and ostracised by the people they used to help. Elena and her mother hit rock bottom and had to fight from the bottom up to start a new life.
After being turned down by dozens of companies, Elena finally got an interview call from a major company. Elena hoped this was the beginning of a renaissance for the Wilson family. She wanted to prove that she could restore the Wilson name so that people wouldn't underestimate her.
"Ms. Wilson!" A call caught Elena's attention.
"Yes, it's me." Elena smiled in response to the call. Her eyes fell on a young woman dressed in bright red standing in the doorway.
"Come in! Mr. Hubner is expecting you," the woman said.
Elena got up and left the chair. Just then, the phone in her pocket rang.
"Excuse me," Elena said to the woman waiting for her.
Elena rejected the call from the unknown number. She turned off the phone and put it in her pocket. After that, Elena immediately entered the room to conduct a job interview. She didn't want to waste the opportunity to take a call from a stranger.
The thirty-minute interview went smoothly. Elena got through each session perfectly and was optimistic that the company would hire her.
"I'm pleased with all your answers." Mr. Hubner nodded. "Come in tomorrow at 8 a.m. to meet with the company's CEO."
"Alright. Thanks for the opportunity, Mr. Hubner." Elena nodded respectfully with a graceful smile.
"Don't be late; opportunities don't come twice," Mr. Hubner advised.
"I understand," Elena replied.
As she left the room, Elena couldn't wait to tell her mother the good news. She took her phone out of her pocket to call her mother. However, she found many missed calls from unknown numbers. Curiosity blew Elena's mind. She dialed the number and received the devastating news that shattered her heart and soul. Elena's mother had been in an accident and was in critical condition in the hospital.
Elena drove her car to the hospital at high speed. Her mind was so frantic that she didn't care about her safety. She just wanted to get to the hospital as soon as possible and find out about her mother's condition.
Arriving at the hospital, Elena ran to find her mother. She bumped into a man and nearly fell over, not paying attention. Luckily, the man quickly caught her.
"Are you all right?" the man asked.
The man's handsome face struck Elena. A face that looked familiar, but Elena couldn't remember where she'd seen it before.
"Hey, are you all right?" The man repeated his question.
Elena blinked quickly, then pulled away from the man's embrace as she realized their intimate position.
"Sorry, I'm in a hurry," Elena said.
The man before Elena had just opened his mouth to talk when someone called her.
"Elena!" A doctor called.
"Doctor Evans!" Elena turned away, leaving the handsome man in front of her.
"I need to talk to you," Doctor Evans said as soon as Elena approached him. The doctor said, "I've tried to contact you several times, but..."
"What about my mum?" Elena urged with tears in her eyes.
Doctor Evans replied, "Your mother has severe kidney damage."
"Oh my God!" Elena covered her mouth with her palm.
"She could have survived with one kidney. But unfortunately, her other kidney has a problem, too," the doctor explained.
"Oh, Gosh!" The joints all over Elena's body felt weak and terrible thoughts swirled in her mind.
"I'm sorry. I've tried my best," the doctor said as he grasped Elena's shaky hand. "The only option is a transplant. Your mother needs a new kidney to survive."
The more information the doctor gave her, Elena's mind became frantic. If her kidney could match hers, then Elena was ready to give one to her mother. But their blood types were not the same. How would the kidneys match?
"Oh, God! What am I supposed to do?" Tears fell from Elena's eyes.
Elena was desperate. She didn't know where to go to find the kidney for her mother. She cried in the hallway and felt she had no hope that her mother would survive.
It wasn't just the difficulty of finding a donor and the vast amount of money she had to prepare. Her savings were only enough for about three months of living expenses. Elena couldn't afford it.
"Josh," Elena murmured as she suddenly thought of her boyfriend.
Like a breath of fresh air, Elena stood up quickly and wiped away her tears. With shaking hands, Elena picked up her phone and called her boyfriend.
Josh's family is well off. Josh would soon become the head of the family company. Elena hoped Josh would give her a loan to pay her mother's medical bills.
"Come on, Josh! Pick up the phone." Elena paced as she bit her lip.
Elena called several times, but Josh didn't answer, so she decided to go to her boyfriend's apartment.
Elena arrived at Josh's apartment in about thirty minutes. She took the elevator to the 10th floor. On that floor, Elena walked down a quiet hallway. Her destination was unit 1014, at the end of the corridor on the left. With great hope, Elena took wide steps.
In front of the door of unit 1014, Elena stopped. A sudden doubt came into her mind. Elena had hardly ever asked Josh for anything all this time because she understood that he was starting his career. But she needed the money as soon as possible.
"You're my only hope, Josh." Elena took a deep breath and let it out harshly.
The passcode to Josh's apartment was Elena's birthday. She punched in the numbers and pushed open the door. She walked in and wandered around as she heard someone talking.
"Josh? Is he home?" Elena muttered as she furrowed her brow.
She sharpened her ears and stepped slowly. The voice led her to Josh's room, and it became clear that there were two different voices. Elena's heart raced. Her brain vehemently denied that she recognized whose voices they were. But she couldn't stop her legs from swinging towards Josh's room.
"When are you going to break up with Elena? I get jealous every time I see you with her." Elena was very familiar with the woman's voice.
"Soon, honey. I still need her to help me with my work." And that was Josh's voice.
Through the door, which wasn't closed tightly, Elena saw Josh. He was in an intimate embrace with Bianca, her best friend. Elena's hand over her mouth, and the tears fell uncontrollably.
"I love you, Josh. I'm tired of sneaking around with you like this," Bianca said.
"Oh, Bianca, sweetheart. You know how much I love you and your body." Josh kissed Bianca on the lips.
Elena's tears felt like her whole world had come crashing down. She saw the man she loved and the best friend she trusted making out on the bed, naked. Josh and Bianca had betrayed her.
