Jake slowly slides his right hand inside her panties and Lily quickly gasps as she never known the feeling of a man stroking her down "Do you like that?" Jake whisper in her ear waiting for her answer and permission to go dipper "Oh Jake.." she could finally forms a word. Jake then went further to gently insert his index finger inside her, "Mm" Lily unconsciously let out a moan "You like that don't you?" Jake said naughtily as he licks her earlobe and slowly increased the speed of his hand stroking her. "Yes, I do" she found herself replying without thinking. The feeling was crazy, it was amazing but also unbearable, she wanted more, she wanted him inside her, she was ready to give him all of her. "I want you!" she blunted out
Lily Thompson stared at her reflection in the smudged mirror of the café's cramped bathroom. At 22, she looked older than her years, her once-vibrant green eyes now dulled by the monotony of her daily routine.
Wake up, drag herself to work, plaster on a smile for customers who barely looked at her, then trudge home to her tiny studio apartment. There, surrounded by half-finished paintings and art supplies gathering dust, Lily would curl up on her secondhand couch, scrolling through social media feeds of more successful artists living their dreams. Her days blurred together In a haze of espresso shots and latte art.
She adjusted her apron, emblazoned with the 'Bean There, Done That' logo, and sighed. This wasn't where she had imagined herself when she'd dreamed of becoming an artist. The aroma of freshly ground coffee beans wafted through the air as Lily emerged from the back room. The café was bustling with the usual morning crowd: harried businesspeople tapping away on laptops, students cramming for exams, and the occasional tourist poring over a city map. Lily plastered on her customer service smile and got to work.
"Grande soy latte, extra hot, no foamp!" she called out, sliding the cup across the counter. The customer barely looked up from their phone as they grabbed the drink and rushed out the door. Lily's smile faltered for a moment before she turned to the next person in line. As the hours ticked by, Lily found her mind wandering to her tiny studio apartment. In the corner stood an easel, covered with a sheet to hide the half-finished painting beneath. It had been weeks since she'd touched a brush. Between her shifts at the café and her exhaustion at the end of each day, her passion for art had been reduced to a distant memory.
During her lunch break, Lily sat in the alley behind the café, sketching absentmindedly in a worn notebook. The pages were filled with fragments of ideas: whimsical creatures, fantastical landscapes, and portraits of people she'd never met. She looked at her latest drawing-a fairy with tattered wings-and felt a pang of longing for the life she'd once envisioned for herself.
"Lily! Break's over!" her manager's voice called from inside. Lily snapped the notebook shut and tucked it into her bag. As she stood up, she caught sight of a flyer on the community bulletin board.
'Local Art Fair – Submissions Welcome!' it proclaimed in bold letters. For a moment, her heart raced with excitement, but reality quickly set in. When would she find the time to create something worthy of submission? Back inside, Lily resumed her position behind the counter. The afternoon crowd was different from the morning rush-more leisurely, with people lingering over their drinks and engaged in quiet conversations. As she prepared order after order, Lily found herself eavesdropping on snippets of lives that seemed far more interesting than her own.
"I just got back from backpacking through Europe," a young woman gushed to her friend.
"The gallery loved my latest series. They want to feature me next month," an older gentleman in a paint-splattered jacket said into his phone. Lily felt a twinge of envy with each overheard conversation. She'd always imagined her life would be filled with adventure and creativity, not the endless repetition of
"What can I get started for you today?"
As closing time approached, Lily began the nightly cleaning routine. She wiped down tables, restocked supplies, and mopped the floors with mechanical efficiency. The last customer had left, and she was looking forward to going home, maybe sketching a bit before falling into bed. Just as she was about to lock the door, a man came rushing up, waving his hand to catch her attention. Lily hesitated for a moment before turning the lock back and opening the door.
"I'm so sorry, we're actually closed," she began, but the man cut her off with a charming smile.
"Please, I've had the day from hell, and I desperately need a coffee. I promise I'll be quick," he pleaded, his blue eyes twinkling with a mix of exhaustion and hope. Against her better judgment, Lily found herself nodding.
"Alright, one coffee to go. What can I get you?" As she turned to prepare his order-a simple black coffee-Lily couldn't help but notice the man's disheveled appearance. His suit was wrinkled, his tie loosened, and his dark hair looked as if he'd been running his hands through it all day.
"Rough day?" she asked, surprising herself with her forwardness. The man chuckled.
"You could say that. I'm Jake, by the way. Jake Harrison."
"Lily," she replied, turning back to the counter with his coffee in hand.
"Here you go, one black coff-" In that moment, several things happened at once. Jake reached for his wallet, Lily extended the coffee, and neither noticed the small puddle of water on the floor from Lily's recent mopping. As Lily took a step forward, her foot slid on the wet surface. She lost her balance, pitching forward with the coffee still in her hand. Time seemed to slow down as Lily watched in horror as the lid popped off the cup. The dark liquid arced through the air, splattering across Jake's crisp white shirt and blue tie. The empty cup clattered to the floor as Lily crashed into Jake's chest, sending them both stumbling backward.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry!" Lily gasped, mortified. She grabbed a handful of napkins from the nearby dispenser and began dabbing at Jake's shirt frantically.
"I'm such a klutz, I can't believe I did that. Your suit is ruined!" To her surprise, Jake started laughing. It wasn't a polite chuckle or a forced laugh to ease the tension. It was a genuine, full-bodied laugh that seemed to come from deep within him. Lily looked up, confused, her hand still pressed against his chest with a napkin.
"Well," Jake said, still chuckling,
"when I said I'd had the day from hell, I didn't think it could get any worse. But somehow, this feels like a fitting end." Lily felt her cheeks burn with embarrassment.
"I'm so, so sorry. Please, let me pay for your dry cleaning. It's the least I can do." Jake gently took her hand, removing it from his chest. But instead of letting go, he held onto it for a moment longer than necessary.
"How about this instead," he said, his eyes meeting hers.
"You let me take you out for coffee-somewhere where you're not working, of course. After all, you owe me a cup, and I have a feeling you could use a break from this place." Lily blinked, taken aback by the unexpected turn of events. She looked at Jake-really looked at him-and saw kindness in his eyes, along with a spark of something else. Interest? Intrigue? Whatever it was, it made her heart skip a beat.
"I... yes," she found herself saying.
"I'd like that." As they exchanged numbers and Jake left with promises to call her soon, Lily couldn't help but feel that maybe, just maybe, her life was about to get a little less mundane. She looked down at the coffee stain on the floor, which moments ago had seemed like a disaster, and smiled. Sometimes, she realized, the biggest messes could lead to the most beautiful opportunities.
