AIDEN'S POV
Tears rolled down my cheeks as I stood with my father watching how my mother was laid to rest . I secretly pinched myself in hopes that it was all a dream. Reality dawned on me when I couldn't see the casket any longer...My mother is dead.
We were soon done with the rites and my dad went to entertain the guests . Having nothing to do , I sat down looking around our home...one that was filled with laughter and giggles of my parents and I just yesterday . But now , it seems to be enveloped by darkness , looking cold and devoid of any form of warmth that a home could have. The mourning decorations and people in black clothes as I am , made it all worse. I could hear their whispers...
"What a pity , he is still so young."
"I heard that he is their only child , thankfully he is a son."
"That's true , if he were to be a daughter, I am sure his dad would marry another wife as soon as possible."
"His dad is still young so he can easily get another wife"
The 10 year old me wondered if my dad would really marry another woman just after my mother's death. The thought of it really saddened me , my lips quivered and I could feel tears finding their way down my cheeks for the umpteenth time today . I stood up in haste and walked away from there , running to the garden which my father built specially for my mom . I couldn't hold it in any longer , so I fell on my knees and bursted into tears .
I cried for a while like there was no tomorrow which means to be true in my case. I just couldn't think of living without my mum , it all felt strange and foreign to me. I was lost in my thoughts when I heard a voice above me...
"Are you okay?"
I looked up to see who came into the garden as visitors were not allowed to come to this side of the mansion. I saw a cute round face with doe-like hazel eyes , her long dark brown curls fell over her shoulders with bangs at the front . She wore matching rose earrings and a necklace.
"Are you okay?" She asked once again , pouting.
I blushed in embarrassment as I stood up in a hurry after realizing that I have been staring at her face for a while now. I couldn't help but wonder if she heard me crying.
"I came here with my dad but I can't find him , I think I am lost." She said , pouting while looking down at her feets.
She asked looking back up, " Do you live here?" I nodded my head in response.
"Are you sad?" She asked out of nowhere.
I looked at her wondering how I should answer that. She continued , "My dad said that hugs is the best cure for sadness"
"Do you want a hug?" She asked cutely , tilting her head sideways.
I wasn't able to give a response before she wrapped her little hands around me . I was taken aback , not knowing what to do , I just let her be.
"I am Rosey , what's your name?" She then asked.
I was about to answer when I heard someone shouting . "Rosey ! Rosey !! Rosey !!! , where are you?" . "Ohh , that's my Dad" "Dad , I am here" She shouted.
A man who seemed to be around my father's age came running towards us. He hugged her and then scolded her lightly after pulling away"I have been looking for you , why did you disappear? I asked you to wait for me,"
"I am sorry dad, it won't happen again," She apologized , blinking her eyelashes at her father.
Turning his head to me , he looked at me and said, "Oh, you must be Joshua's son , how are you?"
"I am fine, thank you sir" I replied.
He nodded his head and then told Rosey that they needed to leave. On hearing that , Rosey pouted and then said goodbye to me.
I looked around me and suddenly felt all alone after they left. I then saw a shiny object on the grass , I picked it up and I realized that it was one of Rosey's earrings. I ran to catch up with them but I couldn't find them as they had already left the house. Looking down at the rose earring, I couldn't help but smile a little as I remembered her cute little face and her dazzling hazel eyes.
"Rosey...My Rose...My hazel beauty..." I whispered.
I sighed, placing the back of my hand on my eyes as I woke up from the memories of my childhood. It's been 12 years already and I still can't forget her. I wondered where she is and how she is doing now. She definitely doesn't remember you any longer , my inner voice taunted to which I just rolled my eyes at.
Knock , knock , knock
My thoughts were cut off by a series of knocks on my door. I got out of my bed to check who was at the door.
"Good morning Captain, the Commander requires your presence," The soldier saluted as he delivered the message.
"Okay" I replied sternly.
I closed the door and then quickly freshened up. I knocked on the commander's office. "Come in." I heard.
"Good morning Commander," I saluted.
"Good morning Captain Aiden , how was your night?" He asked , looking up from the documents he was reading.
"It was fine sir," I replied.
"That's good, I called you here to tell you that the General himself requested a leave for you and it has already been approved. It will officially start tomorrow," He said calmly.
I frowned at that not knowing exactly why my grandfather would do that "Okay , noted commander," I answered.
"Good , you can take your leave," He nodded.
I saluted and then went out. Getting back into my room , my grandfather's message came in.
"Go and stay with your father for sometime."
Seeing the message my frown deepened wondering why I needed to take a leave from work to live with a man that abandoned me 12 years ago.
He was my first love. And my first heartbreak. Now, he's back-with a ring, a contract, and a proposition I never saw coming. Darius Ferguson is a name that turns heads. Billionaire. Power player. The kind of man who can make or break anyone with a single deal. The world sees him as untouchable, unstoppable. But to me? He's the boy who disappeared without a goodbye. The one who left me picking up the pieces of a heart he had no right to break. Now, years later, he's standing in front of me with an offer too tempting-and too dangerous-to ignore. Marry him. Be his perfect wife in public. Play the role until the ink dries on his biggest business deal yet. In return, he'll make all my problems disappear. One year. No emotions. No messy entanglements. Just a means to an end. It should be easy. Except nothing about Liam has ever been easy. He still knows exactly how to make my pulse race. Still watches me like I belong to him. And when he touches me, I forget every reason I swore I'd never let him back in. But this isn't real. It can't be. Because I refuse to make the same mistake twice. Even if pretending to be his wife starts to feel a little too real.
Everything has with a price. Including her. I'm Damien Anderson. I run this city. Control is everything to me. In business, in pleasure-I never give up the upper hand. So when a stubborn little thing dares to defy me, it gets under my skin. Makes me want to break her, own her, make her beg for everything I know she needs. That fire in her green eyes? I want to watch it flicker and fade into sweet submission. I give her an offer she can't refuse-thirty days in my bed, and her money problems disappear. No strings. No emotions. Just my wealth in exchange for her innocence. But Lily isn't just another deal. She's an obsession. A weakness I never saw coming. And now? I don't care about the contract. She's mine. And I'm never letting her go.
One glance. One touch. One note of her mesmerizing voice, and I'm undone. Like a dream I never want to escape, she draws me in, wrapping me in her presence. Consumed. Overcome with need. Fueled by an unshakable desire to claim her as mine. One night, I take more than she's ever given, and it only leaves me craving more. Needing more. Desperate for more. She's the one I've waited for my entire life. And I'll be damned if I let anyone-our families included-stand between us. She trusts me. Yearns for me, just as I ache to possess her. Forever. But fate throws a twist we never saw coming. A curveball no one could have predicted. Still, I cling to her light. She's my Angel. Something about her-about us-makes me believe I've found heaven on earth. She's now my world and I'm never letting her go. Not now. Not ever.
Adeline I was already regretting this blind date when my ex walked into the restaurant-hand in hand with his new girlfriend. The urge to disappear hit me hard, so I did what any self-respecting woman would do . I ran to the ladies' room, unfortunately for me , it was a men's room... and so I had no choice but to climb out the window. Except I didn't exactly stick the landing. Instead, I tripped, tumbled into the dumpster, and almost got shot by a criminal who was on the run from a hot cop. --- Kenneth I was staking out a notorious drug dealer, waiting for the perfect moment to move in. Everything was going smoothly-when a woman fell-yes, fell-from the restroom window and almost got shot by the suspect. The suspect bolted. My cover was blown. And the woman? She looked up at me with the most stunning eyes I'd ever seen... and then tried to run. I caught her before she could get away. Annoyed as hell, I slapped cuffs on her. She was livid. I was livid. But the only thing worse than losing my target? The fact that I couldn't stop staring at her. And I had a feeling that wasn't going to change anytime soon.
My past is a locked door. Sealed shut. Guarded by the lies I tell to survive. A mask. A façade. A carefully crafted illusion. But no disguise is perfect. No wall is unbreakable. And he-relentless, unyielding- shatters through every barrier I built. He gets too close. Sees too much. Draws me in with a fire I can't control. Our connection is raw, reckless- a beautiful kind of destruction. But love is dangerous. Secrets are deadly. And there's one truth I swore he'd never know. One part of me I refuse to expose. Because he's just as fractured as I am. And together, we might be the only thing standing in our way.
He's not just a criminal-he's a king in the underworld. A ruthless leader who commands two of LA's most dangerous gangs. And now, I belong to him. Kidnapped. Trapped in a gilded cage with no escape. I should be terrified, desperate to run. But his touch is intoxicating, his presence irresistible. He says he took me for a reason. That my father wants him dead. Can I trust the man who stole me? Or is he playing a game far deadlier than I realize? The truth will shatter everything. And when it does, I'll have to make an impossible choice: Betray the family I've always known... Or surrender to the man who owns my soul.
