When I found out I was pregnant, I came across a Weibo post: "What should I do if my brother marries a woman he doesn't love to save me?" I was lamenting how outrageous the scumbag was when I clicked in. To my surprise, the poster was my sister-in-law. And that scumbag was my husband.

Chapter 1

When I found out I was pregnant, I came across a tweet. "What should I do if my brother marries a woman he doesn't love to save me?"

I was just lamenting about how outrageous some men could be and clicked on it.

To my surprise, the poster was my sister-in-law.

And that man was my husband, Rory Lambert.

1

I clicked on the profile picture of the poster, and indeed, it was my husband's sister, Emily.

How could Rory not love me?

I recalled the day we first met. At a dinner party, a director was relentlessly trying to get me drunk.

He even tried to touch me with his greasy hands.

"Stop acting all innocent. Who knows how many men you've been with?" He sneered, attempting to drag me to a hotel room.

It was Rory, a powerful figure in the city's elite circles, who intervened.

He just grabbed the director's hand, twisted his wrist until it broke, and kicked him.

"If I ever see you harassing actresses again, or hear you use foul language, don't blame me for making you disappear from this industry." He warned.

After that, he began to pursue me.

Later, he confided in me that he had lost his parents at a young age and only had an adopted sister, whom he relied on.

He longed for a family of his own.

I, too, having grown up with divorced parents, yearned for a family.

So, after knowing him for less than two months, I agreed to a whirlwind marriage.

I loved him deeply. When I learned his sister had uremia and needed a kidney transplant, I even volunteered to be tested for compatibility.

But it turned out everything was just an act.

No wonder he was so unusually happy when I agreed to donate my kidney.

But Rory was such a powerful figure, and he just wanted to get a kidney for his adopted sister, why would him go to such lengths, even sacrificing his marriage?

Now that I was pregnant, would he change his mind?

2

I wanted to confront him and get some answers.

Just as I was about to knock on the door, I overheard him dismissively telling Emily, "How could I ever love her? An actress isn't worthy of me."

"Then why did you marry Amy?"

My heart tightened. This marriage was truly a sham.

"Didn't I do all this for you? You ungrateful girl." Rory said, patting Emily's head and pinching her nose.

"Your blood type is rare. After all these years, she's the only match we've found. Without a marriage certificate, how could we be a legitimate family, making it easier for her to donate a kidney?"

So that was how it was.

Then I understood why he went through the trouble of marrying me.

It turned out that he was afraid that I wouldn't donate my kidney!

And he morally coerced me into it by using the family bond.

I clenched my right hand into a fist, biting my lip to stifle a sob, but tears were already streaming down uncontrollably.

"What if you develop feelings for her over time? If that's the case, I'd rather die than have you sell yourself." Emily pouted.

"I don't want her but her kidney." Rory reassured her. "Don't worry, your brother will save you."

Emily clung to his hand, "Brother, if something goes wrong during the surgery and you have to choose between us, who would you save?"

I pressed my ear against the door, terrified of missing a single word.

I still held a glimmer of hope.

After a moment of silence, he softly said, "I can find another wife, but I only have one sister. Of course, it would be you."

Even though I had mentally prepared myself, hearing it still felt like a knife slicing my heart into pieces.

"Brother, please don't leave tonight. Just thinking about you sleeping in the same bed as her makes me feel worse."

Emily pleaded, tightly embracing Rory, pressing herself against his back.

Although I had suspected their relationship was not purely sibling-like, witnessing it was still shocking.

"Brother, sleep with me." She implored.

"We're siblings!" Rory said, restraining himself, but he turned and held her in his arms.

"But we aren't related by blood! If it weren't for our reputation, I would have married you today."

Emily's eyes were tearful, which made people want to pity her.

Rory kissed her forehead, lips, and collarbone, his voice dripping with affection when he was coaxing her, "Good girl... "

3

I couldn't listen any longer.

The twisted relationship between these siblings was nauseating.

Back in my room, I masochistically continued scrolling through Emily's tweets.

The more I read, the colder my heart became.

One post showed a familiar pair of hands holding a porcelain bowl of steaming soup.

Emily's caption read, "He spent two hours making this soup for me, but I couldn't finish it. In the end, I asked him to take it back to the office because he works so hard."

The date matched the day Rory brought me soup.

What I thought was a loving gesture was actually leftovers.

Remembering that soup made me feel sick.

"He heard the blessing of church on the mountain was very spiritual, so he went early in the morning to get me a peace amulet, hoping I'd live a long life." read another post, accompanied by a photo of her wearing the amulet.

The date was the same as when he gave me a peace amulet.

It turned out he didn't go to the mountain for me.

Emily's amulet was different from mine.

Hers looked particularly exquisite, while mine must have been a freebie.

I foolishly treasured it, keeping it with me always.

I even remembered dropping it in the water accidentally during a shoot and spending the entire night searching for it.

I ended up with a high fever for a week but felt lucky to have found it.

My heart felt like being stabbed by countless needles, a sharp and intense pain.

But it wasn't because of Rory, it was for myself.

I scrolled to the most recent post, from the day he proposed to me.

"I casually mentioned wanting to see fireworks, and he actually booked an entire mountain to set off fireworks for me all night." It was accompanied with a collage of firework photos. The center photo showed fireworks spelling out, "R Love Y."

I always thought it stood for Rory and Amy.

But it was Rory and Emily!

It seemed I was deluding myself.

When a woman loved a man too much, she would go to great lengths to find excuses for his betrayal and desperately search for evidence of his past love, to convince herself not to believe everything she saw.

Yet, I discovered that even the so-called evidence of love from the past was fake!

The brother deceived me into marriage, and his sister, knowing everything, still played the third wheel.

Moreover, there was an unspeakable, inappropriate relationship between the siblings behind closed doors.

You two siblings were quite something!

You made a fool out of me.

I felt as if there was a weight on my chest, making me hard to breathe.

In my despair, what seemed like a sweet gift from God turned out to be poisoned by the devil.

No wonder he never set a date for the wedding after getting the marriage certificate.

It was all just to use me, so why bother going all out?

I used my alternate X account and posted a note about the successful kidney match report with the caption, "Hope it helps his sister, and may our family always be together."

When the netizens found out I donated a kidney for his sister while he cheated on me, what a scandal it would cause in his circle of the city!

At that moment, Rory tiptoed back into the room, gently lying down beside me.

He still carried the scent of Emily's perfume. I pretended to turn over, facing away from him, forcing back the urge to vomit.

Since they wanted my kidney, I decided not to give it.

And as for this child, I didn't plan to keep it either.

I wanted Rory to understand what it felt like to kill his own child.

I also wanted him to taste the bitterness of having his sincere heart trampled upon.

4

The next day, Rory's friends heard that Emily was discharged from the hospital and came over to visit, staying for a meal.

Rory skillfully served Emily soup and dishes.

Emily glanced at the beef burger, and Rory dutifully removed the burger's skin, put it on his plate, and then gave the beef inside to his sister.

He then ate a piece of bacon that Emily had bitten and tossed into his plate.

His friends seemed used to it, as if they had seen it a hundred times.

Although they were siblings, their behavior was more like a couple's.

Emily smugly smiled at me and said, "Amy, I've been frail and sickly since childhood, so my brother is used to taking care of me. He doesn't let me do anything and doesn't trust others to do it either. He spoils me too much. You won't get jealous, will you?"

I appeared indifferent on the surface, but inside, I felt more disgust than jealousy.

Whether in the Lambert family or among his friends, I felt like an outsider.

Indeed, this marriage was just a trap staged for me.

His friends said, "Yes, Amy. Rory has been a brother who's overly protective of his sister since he was young, don't think too much. When they used to sleep together as kids, you weren't even in the picture! Honestly, if someone didn't know better, they'd think Rory and Emily were a married couple!"

Rory frowned slightly, picking up a spoon and tossing it at his friends, "What are you talking about!"

"Hey, just joking."

However, he had thrown my spoon.

I quietly bent down, lifting the tablecloth covering my legs, only to see Emily's foot gently rubbing against Rory's leg.

They were flirting under the table in front of so many people.

They liked this kind of thrill, didn't they?

5

I quickly stood up, pretending not to see anything.

Rory asked considerately, "What's wrong?" I gave him my usual gentle smile, "Nothing, just dropped the spoon."

He patted my shoulder, whispering, "Let the maid handle such small things."

I asked the housekeeper to get me a new spoon.

Emily sneered a bit, dissatisfied that Rory's attention was on me.

"Just pick it up, why get a new one?"

"But even if you pick it up, it's still dirty. Even after wiping, there are marks. I don't like using dirty things."

Not just spoons, but people too.

Emily rolled her eyes when Rory wasn't looking, but I caught it.

I looked at her neck, concerned, and asked, "Emily, what's on your neck? It looks like a hickey?"

My words piqued everyone's curiosity, and they all turned their eyes to her neck.

Alan widened his eyes, "Wow, Emily, you're either at the hospital or home all day. When did you get a boyfriend? Wow, which guy managed to win over Emily? Bold enough to leave such a noticeable mark on Emily, Rory would break his legs, right, Rory?"

Rory's expression turned awkward, and he reluctantly agreed with a grunt.

Emily hurriedly brushed her hair forward, trying to cover it up.

"You must be mistaken. It's a mosquito bite. I scratched it, and it turned out like this. I haven't even been on a date, so stop making things up."

I pretended to believe her, "Oh, I thought you had a man hidden in your room!"

Emily's eyes flickered, and she stammered, "No, no. With my condition, what right do I have to date? I wouldn't want to hold anyone back."

After speaking, she put on a sad face, lowering her head.

Rory quickly comforted her, "If the Lambert family's little princess isn't qualified, who is?"

Alan chimed in, "Exactly, exactly. Didn't Amy's kidney match with you? You'll definitely be cured. Our little princess, once you recover, dating one or even a hundred won't be a problem."

Everyone laughed at his playful words, except Rory.

Of course, he wouldn't want to see his sister with another man.

After all these years, he probably already considered Emily his possession.

Alan asked her again, "So what kind of guy does Emily like? Maybe I can help you find one."

Emily thoughtfully rested her chin on her hand, "I like someone taller than me, with a well-defined physique, double eyelids, a high nose, and looks great in a suit... "

"Sounds like you're describing someone specific! Emily, you wouldn't have a secret crush, would you? From your description, this person seems familiar?"

Watching them guess, I couldn't help but find it amusing.

Emily was just shy of saying Rory's name.

I feigned a sudden realization, glancing between Emily and Rory, and asked with interest.
