Source: The night before the wedding, I accidentally overheard my fiancé Gu Yi talking to his friend. He was full of pride, saying, "Thanks to that jacket of yours, I was able to hook up with this little rich girl." I didn't make a fuss; I just wanted to call off the wedding, but Gu Yi threatened to drag me up to the rooftop. It was only in that moment, as he held me while we fell from the rooftop, that I realized this man was a madman. He leaned close to my ear and uttered a nightmarish curse, "Zhou Wei, you will be mine for all eternity." How is it that in this new life, I'm once again targeted by this madman?

Chapter 1

Before the wedding, I accidentally overheard a conversation between my fiancé, Edmund Lawson, and his friend.

He was full of pride, saying, "Thanks to your help, I managed to win over this wealthy girl."

I didn't make a scene, and I just wanted to call off the wedding, but Edmund threatened me and dragged me to the rooftop.

As he held me and we fell from the rooftop, I realized this man was insane.

He whispered a nightmarish curse in my ear, "Renee Evans, you will be mine for all eternity."

Given a second chance at life, how did I end up being targeted by this madman again?

01

In my previous life, when I overheard Edmund's conversation with his friend, I realized he approached me with ulterior motives.

I pushed open the door and demanded to break off the engagement. I saw Edmund's body freeze, and he slowly turned around, his eyes bloodshot and terrifying. He enunciated each word, "Say that again."

Even if I said it ten more times, it would be the same. I hate being deceived the most. "Edmund, I want to call off the engagement."

Suddenly, Edmund picked me up by the waist, carrying me like a piece of cargo towards the stairs. I pounded on his shoulders desperately, but his steps didn't falter. He kicked open the rooftop door, which was barely locked, until my back was pressed against the railing.

He leaned close to my ear, his voice hoarse with a nearly perverse madness, "Renee, I would rather die than call off the engagement."

I watched as friends rushed up and kept shouting at Edmund, hoping to awaken what was left of his conscience.

He glanced back, a cruel smile tugging at his lips, and my heart sank as I saw the resolute expression on his face.

He exerted force with his hands, and my body lost its balance, slowly tipping over. Yet, he clung tightly to me, suddenly pushing off with his legs, and we plummeted straight down.

Despair enveloped my heart. At that moment, I couldn't face death calmly, squeezing my eyes shut as the wind howled fiercely past my ears.

Edmund's grip didn't loosen, and he was holding me tightly, whispering like a demon in my ear, "Renee, you will be mine for all eternity."

My mind was blank, but I had the only one thought that in the next life, I would stay far away from this lunatic.

02

When I opened my eyes again, the strong wind still howled fiercely past my ears. A speeding roller coaster flashed by, and the people on it screamed sharply.

I looked up and saw the towering twin drop towers across from me. Wasn't this the amusement park next to the university?

In my previous life, I was young and naive, unafraid of anything, thinking I had escaped my parents' control and wanted to try everything new.

I had arranged to ride the drop tower with classmates, but as soon as it started, the intense feeling of weightlessness made me faint instantly. The machine stopped urgently, and I was sent to the hospital by a helpful senior from the same college, barely escaping with my life.

That senior later became my fiancé, and it wasn't until the wedding was about to start that I knew he had taken credit for saving me.

Given a second chance at life, I didn't dare to gamble with my life. I declined my classmates' invitation and waited in the rest area below the drop tower.

Driven by intense curiosity, I didn't leave immediately. With my eyes scanning the surroundings, I hoped to find the senior who truly saved me in my previous life and thank him personally.

The amusement park was bustling, filled with students from nearby universities, including many young couples.

My gaze fell on a couple not far away, walking and talking sweetly.

The girl looked familiar, and she seemed to be from a different class in the same major as me. Just as I was about to greet her, the moment the boy turned around, my breath caught, and a chill ran down my spine.

It was Edmund!

The curse from my previous life replayed in my ears, and a heart-wrenching pain tore at my chest.

Unconsciously, my teeth bit into my lip, and the bloody taste on my tongue brought a moment of clarity. I saw the girl and Edmund walking towards me, and there was only one thought in my mind, I should run!

But my legs felt like they were filled with lead, unable to move an inch. My breathing became rapid, and a fear deeply ingrained in me made my body tremble uncontrollably.

"Are you feeling unwell?"

A gentle voice sounded in my ear. I turned to see a boy standing beside me, the glaring sunlight casting a shadow over his handsome features. His long, thick eyelashes couldn't hide his beautiful eyes.

My gaze fell on the familiar pattern on his jacket.

03

"I..." I tried to speak, but my throat was painfully hoarse. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the two people behind me moving closer. Cold sweat dripped from my forehead, draining all color from my face. I couldn't utter a single word.

A girl's voice, filled with surprise, reached my ears, "Jeremy, is this your girlfriend?"

The girl patted the boy's shoulder, greeting him familiarly, and introduced Edmund to him, "Edmund, this is my best friend from high school, Jeremy Reid. Jeremy, this is Edmund Lawson, a year ahead of us in the business major. He's my boyfriend now."

After the two boys exchanged polite greetings, all three of them focused their attention on me.

The girl tilted her head, squinting as she studied me before finally asking, "Are you Renee Evans from Class Three? I'm Maia Watson from Class One."

She then turned to Jeremy, winking as she spoke in a low voice that we could all hear, "This is the most beautiful girl of our college I told you about. Isn't she pretty?"

The boy smiled, his eyes curving as he waved his hand, "Maia, you've misunderstood. I just saw Miss Evans looking unwell and came over to check. She's not my girlfriend, and I wouldn't want to cause any trouble."

When I was listening to their conversation, my mind kept replaying memories.

Jeremy? I searched my mind for this name but found nothing.

In my previous life, Edmund liked to take me to his friends' gatherings, and I knew most of his friends, but I had never heard of anyone named Jeremy.

Feeling a bit disappointed, I lowered my head, realizing today wasn't the day to meet him.

Just then, my classmates finished their ride on the drop tower and came over to greet me, easing the awkwardness among us.

With my classmates by my side, I felt my tension gradually dissipated, and I linked arms with them, ready to leave.

"Wait!"

The boy named Jeremy suddenly called out to me, scratching his head shyly, "Is it convenient to add you on social media?"

Was he trying to flirt with me? It had been a long time since I had experienced something like this. Instinctively, I glanced at Edmund, who was also watching the situation unfold, but his expression was indifferent.

In my previous life, Edmund was very possessive, not allowing me to interact with other boys. I had very few male friends in my contacts, let alone encountered such straightforward requests.

A classmate leaned in and whispered excitedly in my ear, "Go ahead, add him on social media! That's Jeremy. You have no idea how famous he is!"

04

On the way back, my classmate kept talking about how lucky we were to see the two most popular figures in school at the same time. It was just a pity that Edmund already had a girlfriend.

Did Edmund have other girlfriends in my past life? I suddenly couldn't remember. In my previous life, he burst into my world like a whirlwind romance, intense and passionate.

When I found out he was the kind-hearted senior who saved me, I developed a fondness for him, and we naturally ended up together until the eve of our wedding.

I was terrified of the curse he whispered in my ear as he fell in my past life, his sinister gaze sending chills down my spine.

It was better this way. He had a girlfriend now, and his life had nothing to do with me anymore.

"Renee, your phone's been vibrating for a while!"

My classmate's shout snapped me back to reality. I stared blankly at her before realizing my phone was vibrating. I pulled it out of my pocket to see several messages from Jeremy on social media.

They were all words of concern, and he was asking if I wanted to go to the hospital since I didn't look well. I politely declined.

I wasn't sure if it was because I didn't ride on the drop tower when I woke up, but many things were different from my past life. I was incredibly grateful for this second chance. I never thought of seeking revenge on Edmund. Reflecting on my actions back then, I realized they were somewhat rash, but I was glad I recognized Edmund's dark side in time.

In this life, I must keep my distance from Edmund and spend more time with my parents. In my past life, when I fell, I saw them crying helplessly by the railing, and I couldn't bear to see that again.

I ran into Edmund again downstairs at the dormitory who was sending off his girlfriend.

I realized my mental preparation was useless. My heart was in turmoil again, my palms cold and trembling. I gripped my classmate's hand tightly. She gave me a puzzled look, "Renee, what's wrong?"

I couldn't tell her the truth, so I let go of her hand and quickened my pace toward the dormitory, as if I was being chased by a ghost from my past.

After walking for a while, I slowed down, placing my hand over my chest, feeling my heart pounding. I gradually calmed down. I thought, maybe I was really sick.

05

I sat in the dormitory, lost in thought, when someone knocked on the door. I opened it to find Edmund's girlfriend standing there. I remembered she lived just one floor below us.

"Renee, Jeremy asked me to see if you could go to the teaching building. You haven't replied to his messages all the time."

Her tone was teasing, and she winked at me, explaining in a low voice, "Jeremy was a big deal back in high school. He didn't care for anyone, and now you've caught his eye. Good job!"

She seemed to misunderstand my relationship with Jeremy, and I didn't know how to explain. I picked up my phone from the table, realizing it had shut down due to a dead battery.

I thanked her and closed the door, plugging in my phone to charge, waiting for it to power on.

And an idea popped into my head-perhaps distraction was a good way to handle emotions.

Once my phone was back on, I saw numerous messages from Jeremy. He humbly asked if I could help with a project that needed a translator, as it matched my expertise.

I went to the study area of library where Jeremy had arranged to meet. There were quite a few people inside, all busy with their heads down. My sudden knock interrupted them, and they all looked up at me.

Among the crowd, I immediately spotted Jeremy standing in the aisle. He wore a white sweater, his freshly washed hair falling over his forehead, and his deep, dark eyes were warm and inviting.

When he saw me, he walked over gracefully, introducing me to his classmates. They teased us, but he remained calm, his expression unchanged.

I sat alone, and Jeremy brought over a stack of documents, apologizing, "Renee, I'm sorry, but we're in a bit of a rush and need your help."

I skimmed through the materials, which were for a financial experiment project. Some of the technical terms were also unfamiliar to me.

I could only translate the general content, leaving the specialized terms blank to discuss with Jeremy later.

When I was immersed in my field, my mind was filled with terminology, which truly calmed me down. I took notes, translating and recording as I went.

When I finished translating a document, I wanted to ask Jeremy about the technical terms.

Looking up, I realized the classmates who had been in the study room had already left, leaving the room empty.

I instinctively reached for my phone, only to find Jeremy standing beside me, smiling.

"Why are you so timid, getting scared to tears? I've been here the whole time."

Since my rebirth, the fear of seeing Edmund had been suppressed in my heart. And when I saw the empty classroom, the fear surged again, and my emotions erupted, tears suddenly streaming down my face.

06

Jeremy was startled by my crying. He stood helplessly beside me, silent for a moment, then seemed to muster his courage and hugged me without a word. His back was straight, his shoulders broad.

I felt an unprecedented sense of safety in Jeremy's embrace, gradually stopping my tears, sniffling a bit, feeling a little embarrassed.

Jeremy suddenly released me, his body relaxing. I looked at the boy standing before me as he gently patted my head, a dazzling smile on his lips. "You're such a scaredy-cat. Come on, I'll walk you back to the dorm."

I pointed to the unfinished translation documents, and Jeremy carefully packed them into his bag.

To reach the girls' dormitory, we had to walk along a narrow path. The streetlights were dim, and we walked side by side. Our shadows stretched long, like two friends in perfect harmony.

Seeing the dormitory lights, I stopped, waved to Jeremy, and sincerely thanked him, "Thank you, Jeremy."

The faint lemon scent from him had a calming effect. Watching his figure disappear into the distance, I turned and headed toward the dormitory.

Suddenly, I saw a boy leaning against the wall at the dormitory entrance. In the dim light, he smiled, his eyes cold and piercing.

It was Edmund again!

I pretended to be calm as I brushed past him, but before I could take a step away, my arm was suddenly grabbed, pulling me back a few steps.

In an instant, I was pinned against the wall at the dormitory entrance. I stared at Edmund, his dark eyes burned with a fierce intensity, like a bloody stain spreading in his gaze.

"Renee, do you remember what I said?" His tone was terrifyingly harsh. Pressed against the cold wall, I trembled all over.

I was only filled with shock. Edmund, he had been reborn too!
