MORRIGAN'S POV
"So hungry."I grumbled rubbing my stomach. It had been a while since I'd eaten something. Being a rogue had its ups and downs, and today I was experiencing one of those downsides.
I lost my parents when I was young and ever since then I'd just been on my own moving from one place to another. There were good and bad moments. When you are a rogue you need to be careful of both packs and other rogue wolves. Packs want to either imprison you or kill you, some want you to join their packs and rogues want to steal from you or kill you and when you are female they take advantage of you.
After a while of being a lone wolf I'd just decided to avoid going near pack territories and avoid other rogue wolves as much as possible, but it was not always possible.
I always stuck to the dense forests, most packs cleared their territories and they always marked them so I could smell it from miles away.
'Snap', a sharp sound had me looking around. I smelt it before I saw it, a rabbit. My stomach growled even louder and my mouth began to salivate. I hadn't eaten in days.
If I changed into my wolf form, the rabbit would get away so I dove towards it without any hesitation. I missed it by an inch, it hopped away and I chased after it.
I ran after it not caring or checking where I was going, my main focus was catching it and eating it.The hunger was driving me insane.
If only those pack wolves hadn't tried to capture me, I wouldn't have lost a week's worth of food.
The hunger made me slower than normal and the rabbit was clearly going to get away, so in a desperate attempt I tried to use my power which didn't go well as it only drained me. I watched the rabbit hop behind a line of trees.
"Fucking hell!" I cussed and chased after it. This had to be the worst week in a very long time, I got ambushed by a pack for a reason unknown to me, I lost all my food, I fell down a cliff, I couldn't even use my powers cause I was exhausted and hungry, and now I can't even catch a fucking rabbit.
"Stupid rabbit! Come back here, let me eat you!
Just as I made it to the line of trees the ground below me gave in and I found myself falling down. As soon as I hit the ground a sharp pain went through my entire body and I let out a loud and agonizing scream.
I did not understand what was going on. A weak whimper came from beside me. I struggled to turn my head in that direction, a naked man was laying there. On a net? We were caught in a large net covered in wolfsbane.
"Caught another one." I heard a voice say above us. I was struggling to stay awake. The pain was unbearable, something I had never felt before.
"Hurl them up and put them in the dungeon until Alpha Zephyr and Beta Ronan get back." Someone said,
"Fucking rogues...always... our...pack... ready... fucking... suf....."the voice slowly faded away as I lost consciousness.
"Wake up." Someone whispered. "Wake up child." This time louder than before.
I slowly opened my eyes, every single bone in my body hurt. It felt like I had been trampled by a herd of moose.
After a long struggle I managed to sit up. I slowly looked around, it was a dark place with only a single small window to let in air and a candle illuminating the place. The ground was hard and cold and there were bars.
I wasn't alone in the cell, there were 3 other people with me. They were all rogue wolves and male. They looked worse than me, bruised with messy hair, and they had obviously been beaten and they weren't healing quickly.
"Where are we?" My voice came out hoarse and dry.
Nobody looked in my direction let alone reply to me. I sighed and adjusted myself.
This was definitely a pack's territory. I was so focused on catching that stupid rabbit that I failed to notice that I was invading some pack's territory.
I could probably get away, right? I mean I'd done it a couple of times, I could either use my geokinesis or soul howl to get out of here.
"Same powers that drained your last when you tried to catch a fucking rabbit." I thought. I let out a frustrated groan.
I sat there with the other three guys, awaiting whatever it was that was going to be done to us. The sun that seeped through the window slowly faded and the candle burned out leaving us in the darkness only a small and dull light came from the moon.
No one came and I couldn't smell anyone either. This was the first time I had come into contact with wolfsbane. I had seen it from afar, now I understood why others feared it so much.
Werewolves using wolfsbane on other wolves, evil and fucking vile. I could hear the others' light snores but I could not sleep. How could I be in a situation like this? I was hungry and tired.
My stomach growled multiple times, it felt like there were little ants biting me in my stomach. My head pounded so much I thought it was going to explode.
My whole body felt like it was being pricked by needles. Was I going to die here just like this, of hunger and pain?
My eyelids fluttered as I tried hard not to fall asleep. I did not trust the men in here with me or the men outside these bars wherever they were, I did not trust anyone except myself.
One of the last things my father told me was to only trust myself and to survive no matter what. So I needed to survive no matter what.
