Chapter 1 THE BRITH OF BELLA

There was a lot of excitement in the palace the day bella was born.she was the first child of her parents-king Andrew and Queen Alicia.she was conceived after nine years of a happy and very expectant marriage. It was not as if the king and his queen were quarreling or something.In fact, they loved each other very much but it is said that"success is not complete without a successor".So no matter how much they loved each other or how they behaved, there was still a void to fill up.

It was now two hours since the queen had been in the labour room and the initial excitement gradually turned into suspect in turn, change into anxiety and apprehension

The king was now pacing up and down his room in apprehension when news came to him that his wife,the queen had been delivered of a bouncing baby girl.

Most king would have been disappointed to hear that after nine years of childless, their wife had given birth to a female, but this king was an exemption.To him,a female child was as good as a male one or even better.He was extremely happy and grateful to God for giving him a child at last.The guard who informed him also said that the baby was so beautiful that the queen had named her Bella on the spot.The king then ordered the guard to announce urgent party in the palace that evening,in honour of the baby; sister to Queen Alicia,sat on her bed thinking about her life.

She wondered why her plans had so woefully failed."she had always been lucky since our childhood"she thought aloud,as she could not help a flash back to their childhood days.

Alicia,who was her younger sister,had always been lucky. Her star always shone so bright.She was a very amicable character and was a favorite to everybody.

When she, patricia, heard that the prince was choose a bride from their family,she had thought it would be her, but to her chagrin and disdain, prince Andrew had chosen her sister instead. She, patricia,in her jealousy and bid to take revenge on her sister,she had visited spanish,a wicked witch to help her eliminate her sister, Queen Alicia.To her, utter dismay, however, spanish told her it was not possible, that if she kills her sister,she would die, That the only thing she could do was to make her sister barren for nine years. If during the course of nine years of bareness,she could succeed in getting the prince to marry her,he would throw her sister out of the palace and make her patricia his queen. In additional to that, her sister would remain barren for ever, even as a wife to another man.

All the strategies employed by patricia to achieve all these proved futile, it seemed there was no way getting through her sister.It was now exactly nine years since her exacted with the witch doctor called spanish and true to her words, Alicia, when she could not but bear the thought of calling"queen"especially in her absence was now a mother"- of a very pretty girl", or so she heard."No", thought lady patricia, this can not happen not while I am still here alive" .she stood up, picked up her shawl and covered her shoulder and went off angrily,her destination,the house of the spanish,the witch.later that evening,the palace was bubbling with activity.it was full of guests for the party which was open for everyone.
