BRIAN'S P.O.V
I wasn't ready for all of this chit-chat. Conversations in official meetings bore me. I could not wait to leave this place. It felt like I was frozen in time and needed to leave immediately.
"How long is this going to last?" I asked Tommy.
"C'mon, we just got here," he replied hastily.
"It feels like forever" I answered as I shrugged my shoulders.
I should not even be here. Discussing stocks, profits, and losses is not on my agenda. Enough of this, I was prepared to leave. I stood up and began to head towards the glass door.
"Where do you think you are going?" I heard from behind my back.
"None of your business" I replied with a smirk.
"You shouldn't address your elders like that" the familiar voice replied.
It should be Dan speaking, the company's secretary since before my Dad passed. I turned around to face the table and all eyes were focused on me. Tommy buried his face as he knew my next line of action would be diabolical. I walked back to the meeting and looked Dan in the eyes.
"Don't you work for me?" I asked him outright. At the moment the room became so silent, that even a needle dropped, it would be heard in the room. He was so angry, but there was nothing he could do.
"I have to attend to other businesses, I will see you around later", I said.
"Tommy, can you come over here", I asked.
Tommy got up and he walked towards me.
"Ensure you give me a breakdown of what happens here in this meeting today" I whispered into his ears.
"Sure, I'm gonna do that," Tommy answered.
"I will be on my way, I have a lot of things to attend to," I said as I walked out the door.
I heard lots of murmuring, I remained quiet, I knew they could never say it in my presence.
I headed downstairs towards the reception and the day could not get any worse. I didn't find my driver around, I was getting pissed off.
"Where the hell is my driver?" I asked the receptionist bluntly.
"Uhmmm... Sir...he must have..." she stuttered before I could let her complete her next statement.
"Do you mean that you don't know his whereabouts?" I asked once again, trying to be more polite.
"No, Sir. "I am not aware of where he went," she answered shakily.
"Then call him, God damn it !!" I ordered.
I did not want to call the driver myself because my temper would get the best of me. I believed he assumed I would not be done with the meeting this early.
Guess I will need to wait for him to return. I can't pay him and yet drive myself to wherever I want to go.
"He is on his way now, Sir" the receptionist replied, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"He better be", I answered almost immediately.
"Do you care for a drink, Sir, while you are waiting?" she asked.
"Just get me sparkling water" I answered.
"Anything else?" she asked once again.
"I only need that" I responded as I stared directly into her eyes.
She rushed to get the drink while I had a seat in the waiting section. The entire auditorium was filled with pleasantries, but I was not in the mood for any of it.
I am used to all the irrelevant greetings, most of them do not like me.
They just tag along due to my wealth. It is something I have been used to right from inception.
I stared at the entrance and I could see Timothy as he sprinted towards me.
He was sweaty and highly uncoordinated.
The shock on his face was unmatched, as he never believed I would be here at that very moment.
"I am sorry Sir, I am" he began to rant.
"Where the hell did you go?" I screamed out.
"Coffee... I went to get some coffee along the street" he answered.
"And did you inform me about your movements?" I asked him.
"I am sorry Sir, I didn't expect you to be done so quickly", Timothy answered.
"Then you assumed wrong, let's get out of here" I responded.
I turned around and nearly bumped into the receptionist.
"You can have your sparkling water," stretching it out to me as she said.
"Am not interested again", I replied, gesturing to her to keep it.
"Get my bag from the conference room", I ordered Timothy.
"On it Sir," he said as he ran up the stairs.
I wondered how I forgot to pick it up when I left earlier. It was probably due to how boring and annoying the environment was.
He rushed down the stairs with my briefcase swinging from his arms.
"Can't you be more careful with that?" I instructed.
"I'm sorry, Sir" he apologized once again.
"You know I'm getting tired of all these apologies" I answered.
"I'm sorry Sir," he said once again.
I looked him dead in the eyes, and he knew I was angry.
"Just be quiet, Timothy...don't make the day worse than it already is".
"I'll do just that, Sir," he answered.
We started to head out, and I noticed a particular lady racing into the building as she was heading towards the reception.
She looked scruffy but yet astonishing.
It wasn't a face I knew, so I stood back to observe what was going to play out.
She started talking to the receptionist as she was visibly fidgeting.
I couldn't make out the details of the conversation, but I was interested.
"Do you know her?" I asked Timothy.
"Of course Sir, everyone knows Bianca", Timothy replied confidently.
"I wasn't talking about the receptionist, dumbass" I replied.
"Who's the lady in green?" I asked as I pointed toward the mystery girl.
"I don't think I know her, Sir," Timothy said.
"Perhaps she's here on business" he continued.
Getting closer to her, I discovered how beautiful and astonished she is.
I stretched out my hands to greet her, "I'm Brain".
Now I want her to burst out emotionally and all of that due to my status.
Instead, she answered calmly, "I'm Susan, nice to meet you."
She quickly released her right hand from my handshake, before I could make the next statement.
"I need to start going," she said as she hurried out through the door.
I've got to know who she is.
There is something about her.
