Chapter 1 THE VOW

Isabella POV

The day had finally arrived, the day I dreamt off since I was a little girl.

Today I was going to spend the rest of my life with the man I love.

Here I stood at the entrance of St Anglican Church, my heart beating in my chest. The world outside felt like a hazy dream, distant but in here, everything was perfect and magnificent.

I admired the exquisite decorations , which gave the church a magical and fresh aura. The church is decorated with white roses and large garlands. Sunlight streamed through the stained-glass windows, painting soft and colorful patterns across the pews. Reminding me that I'm truly having my fairytale wedding. It was everything I had imagined.

l couldn't help but think of myself as a fairy tale princess,my gown is made out of soft silk, lace, chiffon material floating around me. Tiny diamonds and pearls are scattered over the neck line. Only God knows how much he spent on this dress.

My heart filled with joy and anticipation taking a step at a time in my father's strong arm leading me to the alter.

I tightened my grip on his arm.

He let out a deep, steadying breath, his grip is strong yet trembling slightly. I could feel the emotion.

"I'm really proud of you my princess" My father whispered, his voice laced with emotion

I swallowed hard, blinking my eyes to keep my tears from falling "Thank you. Papa. I'm finally walking the aisle with you" I was close to tearing up.

He chuckled but I could see the sadness in it , he's finally giving her little girl to another man. "I always told you love was unpredictable but I guess you made your choice"

Yes I had made my choice.

For years my father thought this day would never come.

He had warned me against Rhys Miller countless times, convinced our love was reckless.

For years he would tell me he would only bring me nothing but heartache , warning me he'll only ruin my life all because he saw me kissing my soon to be husband, he would say we are from different backgrounds , we don't belong together and that would tear us apart even more.

Guess who proved him wrong?

Rhys proved him wrong.

I remembered the nights he climbed up to my window just to give me flowers, whispering sweet nothings against my skin, promising me forever or how I'd sneak out and spend the day with him. The days he would wipe my tears whenever my father's disapproval weighed me down.

And finally, from today we'll be spending the rest of our lives together.

The congregation rose to their feet as the soft hum of the wedding march started. Taking a deep breath, I steadied myself.

I lifted my gaze , and there he stood.

Rhys Miller.

God! He was so beautiful.

He was standing at the altar, his million dollars black tux fitting him like a second skin. I couldn't help but gush over how his perfect black hair fell perfectly around his face, his sharp jawline and his eyes, damn! How I love those clear blue eyes.

The moment his eyes met mine , a slow smile tugged at his lips.

As we reached the Alter my father took a deep breath before turning to Rhys . With a reluctant sigh he stretched out his hand to the man who will be my husband to take.

Rhys hesitated for a second before taking it. His fingers were warm but damp with sweats

He's probably just nervous. Every groom got nervous right?

"Hey sunshine" Rhys said, in his deep husky voice that could drop my pants right now but of course we are on the Alter.

"Hey" I replied with a grin

But something felt a little off.

I couldn't help but notice how nervous he looked. His fingers tightened around mine, his grip is damp almost shaky. I couldn't help but noticed his smile was not reaching his eyes

"Are you nervous?" I asked him

He shook his head "you look ravishing. How about we skip the wedding huh?" Pulling me closer to him

I placed one of my hand on his chest "God! You look so hot" I whispered to him which made him grin sliding his arm slowly to my hips.

Then-

The Reverend coughed which made me slap Rhys hand away from my hips, he pulled away smirking as heat rushed to my cheeks . The congregation laughed at the sight

Then it was time to say my vows.

I took the mic facing Rhys, taking a deep breath and I said

"I stand before you today my love, and with these people here as our witnesses, with my heart full of joy I vow to be with you, to cherish you , to love you immensely , to be your partner in whatever life throws ours ways.

In death, sickness, no matter what life may brings , through every challenges I vowed to be by your side, we will build a home in God's n..."

A sudden movement stopped me.

Rhys took a step back.

My breath caught. A chill swept through me.

I looked up to see his face paled, his eyes wide with something I couldn't seem to explain

A lump formed in my throat " Rhys?"

He let out a shaky breath, his voice is barely above a whisper.

"I can't"

What's happing? The microphone trembled in my hand, hitting the floor hard

The words I never expected fell from his lips.

This can't be happening.

He turned away, his steps echoing down the aisle and I screamed

"RHYS!" He didn't turn, he left and never looked back.

He disappeared from my sight. My body trembled, my heart felt heavy and confused

The murmurs of the congregation faded in silence my vision blurred and before the reality hit me I slipped into darkness.
