He was eight years old when unknown men broke into their house, beat up his father and assaulted his mother. Witnessing all this, eight years old Luka made a deal, a deal that still couldn't save his parents! These men still took him with them to a place he has to fight for his survival each day, no one was allowed to die. You fight to live, for your right to live... This was what he did until the real truth about his parents death begin known to him, Luka swore revenge to make every single one of them pay!
Luka grimace, his pointed finger curled around the trigger, ready to fire as he stared into the eyes of one of his parents killer. He allowed the memory of that fateful night consumed him for a few minutes...
A distance noise jolted eight year old Luka awake, the noise came again but this time, it became clear to him that the noise was coming from the living room.
He looked around his room, sleepily rubbing his eyes. He swings down from the bed with the intention of checking out the source of the noise. His little finger crawled around the handle, on the verge of twisting it open, he heard a strange unfamiliar voice.
"Shut up Rossi!" Sneered the person with visible anger in his voice.
His once sleepy eyes were now wide awake, fear made him paused debating whether he should open the door or not. All debates flew from his mind when he heard his mother screamed.
Their apartment was small and crowded with arts objects which his mother sell down at their shop a few blocks away from the neighbourhood.
Opening the door a little, he peeked through the small space, having a glimpse of the living room. His hands were sweaty, his eyes watery at the sight of the strangers in their home.
He counted four men in dark suits and leather shiny chooses, he couldn't make up all their faces because they were wearing sunshades. His father was kneeling down in front of them, begging as blood drip down his mouth.
He couldn't see his father face but he saw the man holding a small pistol, his knuckles bloody from hitting his father. His mother screamed again and this time it tore at his heart.
Ignoring his own fear, he made the mistake of dashing out, ready to defend his parents. All eyes turned to him as soon as he stepped into the living room. The sight before him was one of the ones he would never forget in a long time.
His mother was naked, beaten and some strange men were touching her. Now that he took a proper look at his father, he could hardly recognized the man.
His left eye has blood dripping down from it, while his right one was swollen and half closed. He didn't need a doctor to tell him that both his parents were in a lot of pain.
The man holding the gun smiled at him, it wasn't a nice smile. The smile has him quivering and when he removed the sunshade, showing his face, he felt scared, angry and felt the urge to cry all at once.
"And what do we have here?" Hissed the man, his eyes trailing over Luka with piqued interest.
"Please, let my parents go." Whimpered Luka not really understanding what was going on.
"Why should I let them go? They deserve to be punished. Your father here has the nerve to steal from me!" The man replied. "I will let them pay and make you watch then finish you after, I have no use for you."
His mother had stop screaming, she stared into the distance as if she wasn't really there. His throat closed up as tears ran down his face, he reached for her, wanting to hug her but was shoved away by one of the men.
"Please don't hurt him!" Cried his father, crawling over to his side but was also knocked down by another one of his men.
"Take me instead!" Shouted Luka, raising to his feet. "I will work for you, I will bring more bad men for you to kill." He pleaded even though he didn't fully grasped the meaning of his words. "Let them go, I will work for you."
If his interest wasn't piqued before then it was now, Lorenzo allow his eyes to access the young boy. He didn't think he has any potential, he was too skinny, doesn't look well fed but then he hasn't hit puberty yet.
With a couple of hard trainings the boy should be useful. He thought considering the young boy's word and then he nodded. "Very well then, you will work for me."
"No!" His father screamed. "Kill me! Leave them alone!"
"Take the boy to the car, I will be joining you shortly." He ordered his men.
The men took the boy away and he stood up, pointing the pistol first at the boy's pathetic mother, he fired a couple of shots. He then aimed the gun at the father, without any words, he fired him multiple times.
Luka was hardly out of the house when he heard the gunshot, he stilled knowing his parents had been killed. He thought he would cry but he didn't, instead he looked distantly and longingly back at the house.
"Move boy!" Lorenzo slapped the back of his head as he walked past them into the waiting car.
Luka watched him go, clenching his fists. Without thinking, he took the men holding him by surprised by running after Lorenzo and snatching his gun from him, he pointed it at him and fired.
Shock radiate from everyone as Lorenzo cried in surprised clenching his arms. His men raised their guns, ready to shoot Luka them but he stopped them, impressed at how quick and light on his feet the young boy was.
He might have potential after all, thought Lorenzo. One of his travel nurse, ran out from one of the waiting car to attend to his wounds immediately.
Luka braced himself for the worse, he knew the consequence of his action, he couldn't believe he had shot someone! He started to cry knowing he was no difference from the bad man that killed his parents.
He expected to be shoot dead on the spot but instead, he was shoved into a waiting car and they drove away. He cried the entire time, cried for his parents and the impact of their death hitting him.
The fact that no one consoled him made him cry harder and the realization that his mom wasn't around to kiss his hurt away, his father won't be around to threaten the object or someone that hurt him.
He was all alone and being taken away by the same people who killed his parent. The young boy cried himself to exhaustion until he dozed off.
Lorenzo looked over at the boy, he allowed him to cry but he will make sure that this was the last time he ever cried. The quick thinking and acting of the boy had impressed him more than he cared to admit, he didn't doubt for a second about the fun he would have shaping the young boy into his own image!
