Madison's POV
A familiar scent kissed my nose-jasmine and vanilla.
Sophia's favorite.
I froze halfway up the stairs.
It was late. William should've been at the office.
Sophia shouldn't even be here.
My fingers tightened around the banister.
One more step. Just one.
Voices drifted down the hallway-low whispers, intimate laughter.
His laugh. Her giggle.
No. No, I had to be imagining it. My mind was playing tricks on me.
William loved me. He said so.
He married me.
But then-a moan.
My breath caught in my throat. My legs moved on their own, carrying me to the bedroom door.
It was open-just a crack.
Don't look, I told myself. Don't.
But I did.
And everything shattered.
William's back.
Sophia's legs wrapped around him.
The sheets twisted around their bodies like some cruel ribbon, tying my marriage into a sick joke.
"You know I love you, right?" I heard William say.
"I always have. Marrying your sister was just a way to get close to you."
Those words broke me.
I didn't scream. I didn't cry.
I just stared, my heart cracking open-slowly, painfully, piece by piece.
Then Sophia looked up.
Her eyes met mine.
And she smiled.
That was when I knew.
It wasn't a mistake. It was a plan.
I turned on my heel, stumbling back toward the stairs.
My lungs burned. My vision blurred.
I had to tell someone. Expose them.
Anything.
Today was supposed to be one of the happiest days of my life. I'd just made a huge art sale.
I came home early to surprise William.
But instead, I walked in on the cruelest betrayal.
Then-
A rush of movement behind me.
A sharp shove.
And air. Just air.
My last thought, as my skull met the marble floor, was simple:
I loved the wrong people
.......................................................................................................
The blaring sound of the alarm jolted me awake.
I sat up, drenched in sweat, my heart racing.
Wait... what just happened?
That wasn't a dream. I knew it wasn't.
Because-I was back in my old room. My childhood room in my parents' house.
Panic surged through me.
I reached for the calendar on my desk with trembling fingers.
The date shifted before my eyes-from July 16, 2024, to July 8, 2023.
I froze.
Shocked. Confused. Afraid.
How was this possible?
Before I could process it further, there was a knock at the door.
Then her voice....Sophia's voice.
"Madison, are you still sleeping?" she called out, sweet and fake, just like I remembered.
"Can I come in?"
"Yeah..." I said, my voice barely steady.
She walked in, casually scanning the room.
"Seriously, sis? Don't tell me you just woke up."
"Yeah. Any problem?" I asked, trying to hide the fury rising in my chest.
Her face...it reminded me of everything.
The betrayal.
The pain.
The fall.
"Come on, you're supposed to try on some wedding dresses today. William's already downstairs waiting for you."
And just like that, it hit me.
Today's the day I was supposed to pick out my wedding dress.
Sophia pulled me to my feet, rambling about how I should hurry and shower.
I let her.
But as I stood under the stream of warm water, my mind drifted to everything I had ignored in my past life.
The way William avoided intimacy.
His dull eyes when we were alone.
How they lit up every time Sophia came around.
The endless excuses-"work," "late nights," "projects"... so he could sleep in the study.
I was too in love to see through the lies.
But now?
Now I had a second chance.
And this time, they won't get away with it.
I stepped out of the shower no longer timid or blind.
I slipped into a pair of jeans and a T-shirt-not the designer dress they expected.
This was the beginning.
A new Madison had risen.
And she was ready to begin her revenge.

"Is it considered betrayal to develop feelings for your best friend's boyfriend? What about when fate intervenes, and he turns out to be your destined mate? You might think it's luck and thank the moon goddess for such a twist of fate. That's what I believed until the love of my life uttered those dreaded words: 'I want a divorce!' As I stared at the pregnancy test in my hands, I realized it was better to keep my secret to myself. My name is Violet, and this is my story."
