A devoted stay-at-home wife, Giselle Harrison, became pregnant a month after waking up in a hotel room with a total stranger. Unsure of who was responsible, she received an unexpected divorce request from her husband, Xavier Sheffield, who had discovered her intimacy with the stranger. He kicked her out, and she subsequently gave birth to a set of twins. Five years later, their paths crossed at his multi-billion-dolar company. This encounter rekindled feelings between them, but Xavier decided to make her his personal assistant, turning her life into a living hell.

Chapter 1 Pregnancy news

God, I am pregnant," Giselle thought as she stared at the pregnancy test in her hands. She couldn't believe she was a month pregnant. Her phone rang, making her flinch as she picked it up. It was Cameron. She was about to take the call when the door opened, revealing Xavier. She got to her feet, her heart sinking as she stared at him. He wore an unhappy expression but looked at her as he approached. "Hey, honey," she said, forcing a smile. He looked away from her and sat on the sofa. Giselle fiddled with her fingers as she sat next to him nervously.

He placed his hand on his temple, resting his elbow on the sofa arm. "Honey?" He didn't respond, continuing to look everywhere but at her. "What is wrong?" she asked, her voice almost breaking. His eyes moved to her. She gulped. His gaze rested on her. Her hands became sweaty as she dropped her gaze. "Giselle," he called, prompting her to look at him. He was looking at her. "Yes?" "I want a divorce." She froze. "Wha...what?" she stuttered. He stood up and turned to leave. She lost control of her legs as they carried her in front of him, blocking his way. Her heart pounded tirelessly. He glared at her. "Xavier, what is... what is wrong?" she stuttered, feeling her hands shake. He didn't respond but kept glaring at her. His height had never seemed so intimidating. Could it be because of everything? Why was he asking for a divorce? What was going on? She nervously stared at him. "Wha...." The next thing he did made her freeze. He pulled out some pictures from his bag and threw them into the air effortlessly. The pictures rained down on her like flowers. She stared at them, trying to understand what they were. Her world stopped at the sight of one. She leaned down slowly and picked it up. Her heart sank into her stomach as she stared at the picture. It was a photo of her and a random man, naked together on the bed. She covered her mouth with her palm in absolute terror. She looked at the other pictures. They were all images of her and the random man. She couldn't believe this. Oh God. What was this? Who had done this to her? "Who the fuck are you?" Xavier spoke up. She looked at him. He was glaring at her. The look on his face was beyond anything she had ever seen-hate, pain, and anger all mixed together. Her heart felt like it might explode. She shook her head slightly, tears brimming in her eyes. "Who the hell did I marry?" he snarled. She opened her mouth to speak but couldn't utter a word. "I married a cheap whore!" he spat. She flinched, feeling a sharp pain in her heart. "I can't believe this." "Xavier, it is... it is not what you..." "Don't give me that bullshit!" he snapped, making her flinch as she dropped her gaze. Tears streamed down her face. "You cheating dirty cheap whore!" he spat. She gasped slightly as she held her chest. "How could you do this to me, Giselle?" he asked. His voice sounded different this time, making her look at him. He had tears in his eyes. That broke her heart beyond imagination. "All I did was love and care for you," he almost whispered. She sobbed silently as she stared at him. "I worked tirelessly just to make you a happy wife, and you do this to me." She reached to touch him. "Xavier, please..." "DON'T touch me," he snarled, making her withdraw her hands. "You disgust me," he spat. She shook her head. "Xavier..." "I regret ever stepping foot in your parents' house to ask for your hand in marriage. You are the worst mistake of my life, and I hate you so much, Giselle." She dropped her gaze, letting out sobs. Tears filled her face. "You know, you are a very good pretender," he said. "I was a fool to think you would be a good and faithful wife to a nobody like me." She looked at him, shaking her head. "No..." "I was a big stupid fool!" "No, that's not true. I wasn't pretending. I love you, Xavier," she cried. "Oh shut the fuck up, liar. You are a bloody liar!" Her heart ached painfully. "You never loved me. Why the hell did you even agree to marry me? You know I have nothing. Why did you marry me? So you could hide under the umbrella of a married woman and be free to roam as you wanted?" "No!" she cried. He scoffed. "Quit faking those tears, Giselle. They only show how much of a pretender you are." She continued sobbing. "You are a snake, sent from the pit of hell to destroy my heart!" "Xavier!" "That's what you are!" he blurted. Her heart broke again. "How much did he give you, huh?" She looked at him. "How much did he offer you to betray me like this?" She couldn't speak, only sob. "A million?" he asked. She sobbed more. "Two million?!" "He didn't offer me anything!" she cried. He scoffed. "You did it for free, huh?" Her heart ached badly. "I wasn't good enough for you?" he asked. She shook her head. "I wasn't good enough for you, both financially and sexually?" "No, that's not..." "Then what was your reason for betraying me like this?!" he yelled angrily, making her flinch. "Tell me, Giselle. Stop this fucking mess of tears!" "It was a mistake," she sobbed. He scoffed in disbelief. "It was a mistake, I swear." He muttered something she didn't hear as he moved away from her. "Please, you have to believe me. I didn't do this on purpose. I..." "I want a divorce, Giselle," he retorted, repeating those dreaded words. "No, please." "It is over," he said. She shook her head. "Don't do this, please." "I don't ever want to see you in front of me again." "Xavier, please." "Go in there, pack your things, and leave my house and my life," he said calmly. "What...?" "Get out, Giselle!" "No," she cried, dropping to her knees and clasping her hands together. "Don't make me repeat myself." More tears flowed. "I don't ever want to see your face again in my life," he said. "Xavier, don't do this. I can't live without you. Please," she begged. He reached for her clasped hands and took off the ring on her finger. Her heart clenched harder as she looked at him. "Xavier..."
