I was the Alpha's Fated Mate, yet I lived in the mansion as an unpaid servant while he played house with his mistress. For five years, Emilio refused to mark me, claiming my wolf was too weak to bear an heir. But on the night of the Gala, everything shattered. His mistress's son accused me of hitting him. Without asking for the truth, Emilio unleashed his Alpha power on me. He slammed me into a buffet table to protect a lying child. I lay in the broken glass, feeling the life inside me-the baby I hadn't told him about yet-slip away in a pool of blood. Instead of helping me, Emilio stepped over my body to comfort his mistress. "Clean this mess up," he barked at the guards, leaving me to die. Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers disguised as tax forms and prepared to leave. But his mistress wasn't satisfied. She paid rogues with Emilio's own family silver to throw me off a cliff into the freezing river. They thought the weak Omega would drown. They were wrong. The icy water didn't kill me; it awakened the Ancient White Wolf dormant in my blood. Three years later, I returned not as a ghost, but as a Queen. Emilio knelt in the snow, weeping and begging for another chance. I looked down at him, my eyes glowing gold, and smiled cold. "I reject you, Emilio Thomas."

Chapter 1

Chapter 1

Elana POV:

The smell of burnt toast hung in the air, a bitter, carbonized scent that perfectly matched my mood.

I scraped the blackened crust off the bread into the sink. 7:00 AM sharp. If breakfast wasn't on the table when Emilio came down, the temperature in the kitchen would drop faster than a freezer door opening.

I was his mate. But inside these glass walls, I was an unpaid housekeeper with a title nobody respected.

My phone buzzed against the granite. Pack Internal Server. Priority: Red.

[Leo Thomas - Pup Baptism and Heir Confirmation Ceremony. Location: The Sanctuary. Time: Now.]

The plate slipped from my fingers. It shattered, ceramic shrapnel skittering across the tile like ice.

Leo. The child he had with Hayden.

"Board meeting," Emilio had said while adjusting his cufflinks this morning. "Quarterly earnings are down. Don't wait up."

I didn't bother with the broom. My wolf, usually a dormant, silent thing buried deep in my chest, clawed at my ribs. She let out a high, keening whine that vibrated in my teeth.

I grabbed my coat and ran.

The Sanctuary was an ancient stone chapel on the edge of the estate, a relic from before Moonstone became a corporate empire. I parked my beat-up sedan behind a phalanx of sleek black SUVs and slipped in through the service entrance.

The scent hit me first.

Emilio. Rain on asphalt-ozone, power, electricity. But today, it was choked by something cloying. Overripe peaches and synthetic pheromones.

Hayden.

I peered through the crack in the heavy oak doors.

Emilio stood at the altar, looking like a god in his Italian suit. He held a boy, maybe three years old, whose dark curls mirrored his own. Beside him, Hayden preened in a white dress that was a little too bridal for a baptism. She beamed, radiating a smug, oily satisfaction.

"Elders," Emilio's voice boomed, the Alpha resonance vibrating the stained glass. "I present Leo. His blood is strong. He will lead Moonstone when I am gone."

The Elders nodded, old men in expensive suits murmuring approval. Nobody asked about the Luna. Nobody asked about the Fated Mate.

I felt bile rise in my throat.

Five years. Five years of "not yet," and "the timing isn't right," and "your wolf is too weak."

"We can't risk the bloodline, Elana," he'd told me, his eyes cold as glaciers. "You haven't even shifted. If we breed, and the child is an Omega... the board would eat me alive."

I backed away, hands trembling. I pulled out my phone and dialed him.

Through the crack, I saw Emilio frown. He fished his phone from his pocket.

"Elana? I'm in a vote. Make it quick."

His Mind-Link voice was a steel door slamming shut.

"I just wanted to ask when you'll be home," I whispered, fighting the urge to scream. "Breakfast is cold."

"Late. The board is grilling me on logistics. Go to bed."

He was lying to his Fated Mate while standing fifty feet away.

Suddenly, the boy in his arms squirmed, grabbing Emilio's tie. "Papa! Look!"

The shout echoed through the phone line.

Emilio froze. His head snapped up, scanning the shadows of the hall.

"I have to go."

The link severed.

I slid down the cold stone wall until I hit the floor. He wasn't waiting for me to get stronger. He was replacing me.

I scrolled through my contacts to a number saved under "Do Not Call." A project manager from Silver Lake in Zurich who had seen my portfolio years ago.

Emilio had called my architectural sketches "cute hobbies." He forbade me from working for rival packs.

I pressed call.

"Silver Lake Construction."

"This is Elana Gomez," I said, my voice surprisingly steady. "Is the position still open?"

"Ms. Gomez? We... yes. But we need you in Zurich immediately."

"I can be there in three days."

"Standard NDA applies. You enter a silence period. No contact with your old pack."

"Perfect," I said. "Silence is exactly what I need."

I hung up and wiped my face. I wasn't the Luna of Moonstone. I was a ghost haunting a dead marriage.
