Throwing money after beautiful girls. One date every three days. This is the private life of Ethan D Clapton, the Alpha of the largest pack in North America, the Blue Moon pack. He doesn't expect or even believes he'll meet the mate the Moon God has planned for him. There are so many women in the world, and he doesn't want to be tied to just one. As the CEO of Blue Moon Group, he believes nothing can't be bought with money, including the pet discarded by his ex. Until the day he meets that average girl-Ella Jane Ronan. She picks up his cat and names it the same as him. She rejects his check for $50,000, refuses to return the cat to him, and even asks him to explain why he abandoned the cat. No one ever dares to refuse him. And one more thing, this girl is his mate. She manages to pique his interest. But he will never tell this girl he is her mate. Because he will never ever accept a mate arranged by the Moon God.
"Hello, Ella's speaking."
"Hi, Miss Ella Jane Ronan, this is Ansel Bates. I'm the chief assistant to the CEO of Blue Moon Group. "The man spoke slowly and sounded like a patient guy.
But after he says he's from the Blue Moon Group, my brain alerts me to watch out for cold calls, forcing me to interrupt him.
"Sorry, as I have told you guys many times, I am not interested in any of your group's insurance or projects. Oh yes, I can't afford any of your apartments, villas, and other real estate. I come from a poor rural pack. I have no idea why my phone number is in your phone book, but please don't call me again for sales. Thank you. Bye." I hang up the phone, block the caller's number, and toss the phone onto the couch.
This is the 10th call I've received from Blue Moon Group recently, and it's something that's been nagging in my head lately. Has the group, belonging to the largest pack in North America, Blue Moon Pack, now been downgraded to selling their products to me, a poor student fresh out of school?
On the other hand, if I could afford the house or apartment they sell for the rich, I would have already replaced Ethan, the cat I picked up last week, with the most expensive cat food and the best cat climber.
Mask up, I continue to clean up the poop in Ethan's litter box, which stinks so badly I even suspect he stole a can of herring.
"What's up? Ella, another sale call?" My best friend Mia comes out of her bedroom. Yawning, she walks to the kitchen counter and pours a cup of coffee from the coffee pot.
Mia Watts is a hot 5'5" girl. Her skin is a healthy tan. Her busty breasts and delicate waist are destined to earn her frequent whistles and hits from boys on the street. Her shoulder-length curly black hair and big pure blue eyes made it hard for me not to be drawn to her eyes while speaking to her.
She's sexy and popular, and even though she hasn't found her mate yet, she's changed dates a lot. Mia looks like a proud female Alpha. Indeed, she is the daughter of an Alpha with a pack of several hundred members. She will undoubtedly become a female Alpha in the future.
I am the opposite of her. I am two inches taller than Mia, but my skin is pale. My breasts are average in size, my waist is a bit bulky, and my butt is not perky. My straight, messy blonde hair falls just above my waist, and I have normal hazel eyes.
Most of my clothes are sturdy jeans with plaid shirts because they're durable and cheap. But they also make me look like a stout cowgirl, a nickname I was given by my classmates from childhood.
Except for three relationships in high school, none of which lasted more than three months, I spent three tedious years in college as a single nerd. Perhaps, to these male wolves who have grown up in the big city, I, the daughter of an Alpha from a rural pack of seven family members, isn't worth too much attention from them.
I, however, don't care because what I want most is to get a decent job in this city. So, my father will stop asking me to go home on a blind date, find a mate or a good man, and inherit his pack.
"Yeah! Our university must sell the graduates' information to her Blue Moon Group's sales department. That's so funny. The world-famous Blue Moon Group now has to rely on the CEO's chief assistant to make harassing phone calls to sell their products. They're going to go bankrupt, aren't they?" I complain loudly.
Sealing the garbage bag containing the cat poop, I remove my mask to get some fresh air.
"I don't think so. If Blue Moon Group goes bankrupt, the whole continent will be in an economic crisis. I heard my mother say that Mr. Clapton bought a yacht for his girlfriend last week." Mia said, handing me another cup of coffee.
"Oh, which one? In a few years, I bet all the young girls in North America will be receiving Mr. Clapton's gifts." I rolled my eyes. Rather than his girlfriend, I prefer to call those girls his dates.
"Except for me and a beautiful young lady called Ella Jane Ronan," Mia jokes and takes a sip of coffee.
The Blue Moon University that Mia and I attended belongs to the Blue Moon Group. When I studied there, I heard a lot of gossip about Alpha Ethan D Clapton of the Blue Moon Group.
I was not particularly interested in others' personal life. But thanks to my gossipy bestie Mia, I had a lot of things about this emperor-like CEO engraved in my head. I even remembered them more clearly than the theories in the textbooks.
Ethan D Clapton was the most famous playboy since he entered Blue Moon University. He changed his dates almost every week. Those dates were like his clothes to him. He deserted them when he didn't like them.
At his 21- the age when usually shifters shift, it was reported that the Blue Moon Group spent a billion dollars to hold a beauty pageant all over North America to find his mate. Mr. Clapton met and shook hands with every single female of his age, judging by their scent and the electricity generated from the physical touch.
Still, his mate did not appear in the end, and this event did not seem to bring him a big blow. It just made him change his date more quickly. From one a week to one in three days.
After becoming the youngest CEO of Blue Moon Group at 22, he seemed to focus more on his career. In just three years, he expanded the scale of Blue Moon Group three times. It has become the largest business group in North America at present.
But judging from my recent experience, Blue Moon Group may be in some kind of crisis and needs to expand its client pool urgently. Maybe Blue Moon employees can try to contact their CEO's dates to improve their performance. Because according to gossip magazines, Mr. Clapton has been changing his dates faster than he can change his clothes.
"Oh, come on. I already have a handsome Ethan. No need for extras. Besides, he's the Alpha of the Blue Moon Group. Who am I? The daughter of an Alpha from an unknown small pack. He and I are in two totally different worlds. We'll never see each other unless he's abandoned like my Ethan and happens to show up on my way home." I shrugged and added a sugar cube to my coffee.
"You cat girl. How about finding a man? Blue Moon University has its 100th-anniversary celebration this Saturday. Maybe you'll meet your mate," Mia says, throwing out a topic she's always been interested in - how to end my single life.
"Maybe! To be honest, I'm more concerned about receiving a decent job offer."
BUZZ, BUZZ~
The doorbell is ringing.
"It must be the cat litter I ordered. You know, there was a SALE on pet supplies yesterday, 50% off. I bought 20 kilos of cat litter." Putting down my coffee cup, I turn around, preparing to answer the door.
"I'll go wash up." Mia waves at me and heads into the next bathroom.
Two men are standing at the door.
The one who rings the doorbell is a slightly chubby man. He is about 1 inch taller than me. His brown hair is fixed to the left by hairspray. Because of his friendly smile, his red cheeks are squeezing his brown eyes into two curved arcs. If he were wearing shorts and short sleeves now instead of a black suit, I'd take him for the nice guy standing on the ice cream truck handing ice cream to little kids.
In contrast, the taller and well-built man standing behind the slightly chubby man is wearing a dark blue suit. He is about 6' 2" with natural straight dark brown hair in a classic Caesar style. A pair of sunglasses fall on the straight bridge of his nose, covering half of his face. Only his dark brown eyebrows and 5 o'clock shadow are visible.
His pursed lips and almost drawn-together eyebrows tell me silently that this man is in a bad mood. The aura that radiates around him is also telling me- he is a badass, don't talk to him.
"Good morning, are you Miss Ella Jane Ronan?" The chubby man asks with a smile. His voice sounds a little familiar.
"I am. And you are?" My hand tightens on the doorknob. He knows my full name, and if these two aren't nice guys, I can be ready to close the door.
"I'm Ansel Bates. I called you six minutes ago, but you seemed to mistake me for a salesman and hung up on me." The slightly chubby man gives me his name. No wonder his voice sounds familiar to me. He's the one who just phoned me.
Wait, that's not right.
"How did you know my address? What do you want?" I heighten my alertness and pull the door inward.
"Where's my cat?" the man in sunglasses speaks in a cold voice, jutting his chin.

"Then why aren't you?" I responded, loving the feel of him pressed so close, my back to the mirror, my front to him. But even still, in some far corner of my lust-fogged mind, I realized that we were still in a bathroom. Anyone could walk in and see us. The thought of getting discovered was scary and erotic at the same time. "Oh, we're not done. Spread your legs a bit for me, Kitten." He commanded. When I did as he instructed, he settled between my legs again. "Now close your eyes. And try not to move." Dominic Rutherford murmured. My boyfriend called, "Baby!" as he jumped out of bed and scrambled to pull his pants off the ground. "Please, I can explain my love." Shutting my eyes, I inhaled deeply and tried not to cry when I realized that my dream of the man not being my boyfriend had been dashed. "What?" I asked, "What do you want to explain?" How did you lie about having a business meeting while you were in bed enjoying yourself with my best friend, even though I told you I was in serious pain, is that it?" I stood there, my heart pounding, and tears streaming down my face...
