The gift of life and the unending supply of breath might be a blessing to some of us but it was merely a curse to Elsa Havel. A young lady who has lost count of the days she had been locked away in hell. She was born a princess but all of her happy memories had been erased from her as she was left to dwell in the dark. Her vampire captors had always been extra careful with her until that fortunate day that Elsa will never forget. She ran and ran right into a speeding car that belonged to Tyson Park, The Alpha of Crystal Pack and Elsa's mate. What happened when Tyson found out that his mate was an abomination... a hybrid? A mix between the werewolf and their worst enemies...the vampire. Will they prevail and overcome the obstacles within them and those in their environment? At what cost? What happens when the fire in Elsa collides with the icy nature of Tyson Park? What does fate have in store for these two predestined lovers with opposite but identical marks on their forehead and chest respectively? Will they succeed in ending the war between the two species?
ELSA
"You will die soon."
He hissed with venom.
My blurry sight didn't permit me to have a glimpse of the speaker but luckily for my unlucky self, I had learned to know them by their voices.
"How hilarious? Your birthday would be your death day too."
He said and I didn't miss the evil laughter that came after his statement. His name was Logan, Logan Redlaw....my youngest but most brutal tormentor. Do you wonder why he hates me so much? Or what did I do to deserve his torment?
All I can say is that Logan hated me because I was different from him and I didn't do anything to warrant such treatment.
And yes, it's my birthday. Tragic!
My body was twisted in an uncomfortable state and my shackled wrists and ankles weren't feeling any better than they were yesterday or the day before. Despite the pain that was coursing through me, I could feel the hot fire of anger burning through my small, fragile and battered body.
How I carried anger and agony in the same body might be strange to normal werewolves, vampires, and hybrids but we need to set this straight before we delve into my tragic story.
There is nothing normal about my pathetic life.
"I smell anger on you, Redhead. Feeling angry is totally unnecessary. My father and other coven members are holding a party to celebrate your death and our success in the red throne room."
Logan murmured like the fool he was. My death was equal to their success. What a stupid bunch of bloodthirsty dickheads.
But I wasn't complaining about dying. I had envisioned it several times in the past four years. This was no life for someone who was born a Princess.
"Your strength and ability to withstand harsh treatment will never cease to amaze me. I will never forget you after you die, Elsa...you have always been my favorite pet."
Logan said, trying to make his tone sweet but he only succeeded in making my name sound unpleasant. You might think he isn't that bad until you witness the cruelty inside of him being unleashed.
"Lucky me! I can't w-wait to be free of you, L-logan. When I'm dead, y-you won't have your f-favorite pet anymore. Seems you are f-the unlucky one now."
I winced in pain as I forced words out of my sore and dry throat. My bruised lips parted to say more insulting words to Logan as my eyesight became clearer than it was before but words failed me.
"You have always been a feisty bitch."
Logan's booted foot kicked into my stomach gruesomely and I collapsed back into the dirty hard floor that had been my bedroom for the past four years. The metallic and familiar taste of blood flooded my mouth and I spat it out.... onto Logan's face as he crouched down to probably strike me across the face.
The strike came after the offense though and I felt pleased to see my blood on his silver-gray hair. More punches and slaps were delivered to my swollen and aching body and Logan's fangs elongated due to fury.
"How dare you ruin my outfit for your pre-funeral party? I would have loved to kill you right here but the whole coven had waited this long to achieve the greatest power of all."
Logan gritted his teeth, pulled me up to my feet roughly, and dragged me out of hell to goodness know where but one thing was certain- my death.
I cringed and winced as we passed by many other prison cells when I saw other prisoners' states. Not that I was treated any better; I was given the worst of it all but at least I was able to withstand the cruelty I was put through but these people weren't able to survive–They died.
I choked on my breath when the smell of decaying flesh found its way into my nostrils. I gagged as I saw another body that was being devoured by huge and multiple maggots. I knew the Red Blood Coven vampires were evil but seeing people in pain hadn't been my thing....
I should have learned my lesson but there was something inside of me that detest hurting others. I wished I could take their pain away....who am I to do that?
"Don't worry sweetie, culty demand that we give you a proper burial after you lay your life for the betterment of the pure vampires. You won't end up like them."
I felt disgusted by Logan's declaration.
Pure breed?
Who were they fooling?
And whereas, why on earth would pure breeds need the blood and life of an abomination like me to attain power?
These fools might be my bloodline but they had ruined everything my grandfather had worked on. Every-damn-thing I grew up to presumably love was no longer in existence, not even the memories of my childhood or my life before the beginning of my journey in this hellhole.
The little details I remember were a result of some words that Logan, his father, or other vampires say to me. They always described how they killed my grandfather on my sixteenth birthday, and how they did a lot worse to my mother. I didn't remember but they made sure I didn't forget too.
"Welcome to your twentieth birthday party, little pet."
Logan whispered like I wasn't about to get killed, just as we took a turn that led us out of the prison and into what was referred to as the red throne room. My eardrums vibrate in response to the loud sound that envelops me as Logan stopped dragging me only to push me forward and into the cause of the noise.
My legs wobbled which made me collapse to the ground and I felt like my head was going to explode from how loud the hundreds of vampires that had shifted their attention to me were.
"There is our guest of honor! The celebrant herself!"
Dominic, Logan's father and the head of the Red blood coven said in a hard tone and I raised my head from the marbled floor to look at him–at all of them and they look right back at me but while mine was born out of repulsion, the vampires stared at me hungrily....like I was a piece of bloody meat.
Well, I was a whole body of bloody meat.
My gaze returned to Dominic as he brought his glass to his lips. The redness of blood coated his teeth and smeared his lips and he rolled out his tongue to lick them clean. They all had a glass of blood in their hands and I didn't need to be told to know that it was human blood.
The dead and pale human bodies next to each seating section say it all. I might have been locked away for years but I wondered if it was right for another creature to suck the life out of others that aren't animals.
Funny how I was unbothered by the glaring truth that I was about to share the same fate.
If anything, I was glad that my misery was about to end. I was feeling fortunate that I wouldn't have to continue living as a lab experimental rat. I was grateful that they finally made up their mind which was thanks to the revealed prophecy as they had been saying.
"I'm still not perceiving your fear, Child. You are all grown up but you smell the same as always. Your mother would have done everything in her power to see you today but too bad she won't."
At the mention of my mother, Dominic succeeded in spiking my interest. Does that mean she is alive or he had killed her? Do his words mean that I wasn't alone in the cruel world?
Hope bloomed within me even though I couldn't make out what my mother looked like. I found myself wondering if she had the same features as me or if she shares the natural silver-gray hair with her supposed bloodline...I found myself wanting to remember her.
"Longing? That isn't what I want you to feel. I want to be able to taste your fear along with the blood I'm drinking."
Dominic sounded drunk which I think wasn't possible. I mean blood isn't alcoholic, right?
To my dissatisfaction, Dominic didn't find the stronghold of my emotions satisfying so he ordered five of his men to make me feel FEAR.
Well, I loathe whoever created me for making me the way I was because I knew I wouldn't feel fear but Satisfaction and pain which would make my death process slow... Too slow for what I desired.
I was bashed and kicked. I could hear my bones breaking and snapping out of place as Dominic's men descended on my already weak body. I gritted my teeth as pain consumed my entire being...I couldn't see the blood but I could feel it dripping down from my nose, mouth, and other injured parts of my body.
Other vampires on the seat snarled, laughed, and jubilated as they hooted in joy while I was turned into a punching bag. How could they find joy in what I was experiencing?
"Sick bastards."
It was barely a whimper but I was sure the whole crowd heard me... They were vampires after all.
"Cease! Cease treating the birthday girl and our special guest of honor in such barbaric manners, gentle vamp."
Dominic managed to say amidst his laughing fist. Haha, what was funny? But that was enough to stop the men from doing more damage to my body. I became too weak to even open my swollen eyes.
Dominic's dumb followers roared with laughter along with him as they yell all sorts of curses at me. They weren't okay with my pain but they made do with it.
"Let's get started."
Dominic ordered, silencing the crowd. I didn't know when left his throne but I sensed when he got to me just as he picked me up from the ground by pulling my tangled and bloody hair.
"I have a present for your foreseen death date, Hybrid."
I gagged....not because of Dominic's words but due to the foul smell that engulfed me when he spoke into my face. Dominic went on to praise himself and "his bright son" as he called Logan.
"We have been working our asses off to give you something on your special day. We all know how brutal we have treated you. Bring me the vial, son."
I was certain whatever Dominic was talking about wasn't a birthday cake or a pink super cool laptop. I was expecting something wicked from them like the key to unlocking the door separating me from the afterlife; if there was one.
They didn't disappoint me.

After one glance at the coffin, I swallowed my saliva and then begged with my fingers crossed. "Mr. Carroll, I'm starving! May I eat your pastries? You don't mind, do you?" "I do." "Ah!" Scared, I broke out in a cold sweat. My legs went limp, and I fell to the ground. I shouted, "Ghost!" Carroll curled his lips, leaned over, and touched the black coffin. "Mr. Carroll has risen from the dead. What do you think of this headline tomorrow?"
