Alexis 'Lex' Alabaster is a twenty-one year old farmers daughter. She lives in a small town, filled with people she's known, and disliked, for most of her life. She's strong, independent, and doesn't take peoples sh*t. Especially being an Omega in a family of Betas. She doesn't want a mate, and doesn't care to listen to 'reason'. Until the Lock's move into the small town. Rich, billionaire, playboy, Henry Lock takes an interest, but after putting him in his place, his father, Grayson, shows up on her doorstep. That's where things took a turn, and she's faced with a choice. Ignore the pursuits of the gorgeous man, or fall.
Alpha, Beta, Omega. The three secondary genders. Alpha's were meant to be strong, at the top of the food chain, the best of the best. Beta's were like a pack of crayons. Like one of those thirty two packs of crayons; you never know what you're gonna get if you're not paying attention. They could be who they wanted, without rhyme or reason. Omegas were at the bottom of the food chain. The runt of the litter, if you will. They are meant to bend a knee. Fall to your every whim.
That's how it was. But, of course, people evolve. Society evolves. People get tired of dynamics, and place holders. While a lot of people have changed their mind set, there were still the ones that laid into the roles. The rich, for one. The high and mighty. The literal top of the food chain. They had money, so they didn't care what everyone did, so long as it didn't affect them or their wealth. They instill their beliefs onto their family, and only make friends with those who do the same. God forbid one of their kids takes on a societal thought, or they would be put off the pasture.
Lex was not one of those people. The 5'7, broad built, dark green mullet haired, 21 year old, was one of the many people who demanded change. If someone didn't like her, and tried to step over her like she was nothing, she made them aware of how she was to be treated. Especially when they found out her secondary gender.
Lex was an Omega. A strong willed, hard headed, farm raised, Omega. A late bloomer at that. Everyone thought she'd be an Alpha, based on her cold demeanor, or at least a Beta. But when her first heat struck, showing her true nature, everyone was surprised. That didn't stop them from trying to take advantage of the newly revealed eighteen year old Omega. She had immediately set them straight by beating a man with a thick branch she had found as she had tried to get away, until he was bloody and there were several broken bones. A week later, she got suppressants, and she never, and she means never, forgot to take them. Once a day, for the last three years, and she wasn't going to forget today, or tomorrow. She hated the feeling. She felt weak, and vulnerable, and most of all, she was angry. Lex did not need any more stereotypes pushed on her than she already did, and being an Omega just made it worse.
As an omega, you were meant to be frail, and without a backbone. You were meant to be sultry, but not slutty. Slim, but fit. Confident, but submissive. Feisty, but meek. Beautiful, but easy to intimidate.
Lex was none of these things. She was bulky, and definitely built like she lived on a farm. May she be a little pudgy. She had a strong jaw, and a strong personality to match. She didn't wear makeup, or dresses, or frilly little skirts and heels. She wore work boots, jeans, baggy t-shirts and wife beaters, and button downs for the fall. Most of all, she hated people. They only exception being her grandparents, her parents, and her siblings. Well, her younger sister. Her older sister was all for the attention that came with being an Omega. Most of the family were Betas, except for me and my older sister. Which, odd as it was, wasn't impossible. Mary was all for the Omega culture. Lex was the complete opposite of it. She hated the way her sister fed the stereotype like it was a lost sheep. Especially with living in such a small town. Of course, people will talk, and word spreads fast, so the new slut of Edenburry was named.
"You're on private property," Lex leans against a fence post, about a mile south of their house, which enclosed the family's pasture.
The man, handsome in every aspect, turns and looks to her. His sandy blond hair is in delicately placed messy waves around the top of his head, with perfectly faded sides. His eyes are a colour akin to the sky, and his skin is a pale but rosy tone. The scruff on his sharp shin makes him seem like he hasn't taken care to shave it, but she could see it was on purpose. He's tall and lean, but muscular. Maybe half a foot taller than herself.
"I'm aware," he sighs,"Are you related to the family that owns it?"
"Who's asking?" She glares at him, her own stormy grey hazel eyes meeting his blue.
"Isn't it polite to introduce yourself first?" He raises a perfectly shaped brow, hands in the pockets of his probably tailored grey suit pants.
"Yer on my land," she glares harder.
He smirks,"Ya got me there," he walks a few steps towards her, and she can smell the expensive cologne wafting off of him. He's an alpha, she decides, and her scowl deepens. "My name is Henry. Henry Lock," he takes a hand out of his pocket to shake her hand, but she just looks at the hand until he chuckles and places it back where it began.
"Lex," she returns, not bothering to give her last name. If he was here, he must already know it.
"Ah, the second granddaughter," he perks up,"You must be wondering why I'm here?"
"Something like that," she sniffs, and he grins.
"My father just bought land not to far from here. They're building the new house as we speak. Should be up in a few days. I was getting to know the land," he confesses, and she nods once.
"How about you get to know it from a distance," it wasn't a suggestion, or a question,"coyotes might fancy that cologne you're wearing."
He raises a meticulous brow,"I'm not wearing any cologne," he smirks as she grinds her teeth together.
"Just buzz off, before my pops finds you. He won't be so kind," she turns and starts to walk off.
"I haven't met many Beta's that are violent!" He calls, and she lets out a laugh, looking back at him with a sharp toothed grin.
"You haven't done enough research!" She calls back and whistles. Two cats pop up from the grass, both a tan colour. One had a white spot over its mouth and nose, while the other had completely white ears. Maine coons. Her father got them for her after she found out her secondary gender. A congratulations present. He thought they would be good comfort animals. She trained them to protect and hunt.
"Good boys," she leans down a bit, scratching them behind the ears,"Heimdallr," she looks to the golden eyed one, the one with white ears,"Apollo," she looks to the one with light blue eyes, the one with white on his nose and mouth.
When she gets to the house, her cats hiss as her sister's huskies approach. The dogs her mother had gotten her sister when she found out she was an omega. Lex couldn't wait to see what Hayden got.
"Alexis," her mother walks out of the large farmhouse, and Lex almost sneers at her full name.
"Mom," she looks up, her cats hiding behind her legs.
"Whatcha doing?" She watches Lex walk up the stairs to the house.
"Coming back from walking Apollo and Heimdallr," she grabs the screen doors latch, but pauses when her mother sighs,"What?"
"I still can't believe your father got you those." Her mother didn't like cats. Somehow her father convinced her to let him get them for Lex. How he did it, the greenette will never know.
"You got Mary the most annoying dogs you could find, and you're worried about my well trained cats?" She looks at her mother sideways.
Her mother frowns, but shakes her head. She couldn't win this argument. She almost never could, with Lex.
"Whatever. Lunch is ready. Your grandparents are at the table already," she ushers Lex into the house, the cats quickly following their master.
As she sits down, her grandfather smiles at her,"Anything interesting in the fields?"
She pauses for a moment,"Yea, actually. Some guy named Henry Lock," she watches his face turn to a scowl,"I assume you heard all about them?"
"Yes," he sighs,"The Lock family is from New York. They own half of the poultry and beef processing plants in the US," he grumbles,"They think they'll gain something from moving round here. Experience and what-not. Henry is the oldest son, and has two other siblings, but they didn't want to ruin their reputation," he mocks whoever told him the story,"He moved down here with his father, Grayson Lock. From what I know, they're both Alphas. You be careful around them, you hear?" He warns Lex, and she nods, taking a bite of the chicken salad sandwich.
"Loud and clear, pops," she grins with food in her mouth, making her grandfather laugh, while her mother and grandmother tut over her for doing so. Just then, her father walks in, and she turns her grin to him, making him break into a grin of his own.
"I didn't know we were having see food!" He jokes and plops down next to his short haired daughter.
"It's chicken salad," her mother huffs as he shoves a bite into his mouth.
"Nuh-uh," he chews, and the father daughter duo opens their mouths before speaking in unison,"See food!" This earns a small chuckle, just before her sisters enter. Hayden giggles and joins the fun, while Mary gives them a look of disgust.
"Thank god I got moms genes," she huffs and sits down opposite of Lex.
Said woman sticks her tongue out, making the other woman make a face.
