"I will take everything I once lost back with my own hands!" Noah Reed vowed to himself. Four years ago, his family abandoned him and he became homeless. He had nowhere else to go and wandered on the streets for a long time. When he was down and out, a gorgeous and kind angel, Charlotte Pierce showed up and helped him. One thing led to another and they soon became husband and wife. The first few months of their marriage weren't easy. Noah felt less of a man because he couldn't cater for her. He decided to join the army just to become more worthy of her. After four years of active service, he made great achievements during wars and was awarded the highest honors. Noah was now at the finish line of the race at becoming a better man. But to his greatest surprise, he found out that Charlotte's parents were forcing her to remarry. Her parents had no regard for him. With all firmness, he vowed again, "I'll not lose anything precious to me again. I swear to protect our love. I, Noah Reed, will take back everything that I lost. All those who ridiculed me and wrote me off will bite their fingers in regret when my true identity is revealed!" And so, Noah embarked on another journey-one of revenge and fighting for love.
"Noah! Where the hell are you? I can't hold on much longer! My family forced me to get engaged to Tommy Fernandez. It's been four years since you left. If you don't come back, then I... I really don't want to live anymore!"
A message, only a few dozen characters, yet filled with a sense of despair, traveled across eight thousand miles of land and arrived at the battlefield on Doriland's border.
Today was the day that Noah, the supreme commander of the Doriland Legion, was crowned the title of God of War.
After this day, Noah would officially retire and leave the battlefield.
On the training ground, countless military personnel gathered to bid farewell to Noah.
Everyone present held a deep admiration for Noah, their eyes burning with fervor as they watched in awe at this man in a military suit standing at the center of the square.
From where they stood, Noah was like a supreme god who had descended to this world.
"This is... the message from Charlotte." Noah stared at his phone, his face brimming with rage.
After four years of endless warfare, the last thing he expected was to receive a distress message from his wife as soon as he reopened his phone.
"Stop the coronation ceremony! I need to go back to Bayhedge as soon as possible!" Noah ordered in a deep voice.
"Yes, General!"
The adjutant quickly took out a military walkie-talkie and relayed the command.
Within just four seconds, a black combat aircraft with a special code landed in the center of the square, a tremendous roar marking its arrival.
"That's the general's exclusive fighter!" one of the soldiers in the crowd exclaimed. "It's the latest and top-of-the-line model, the only one in existence in all of Doriland!"
"Silence!" a commander shushed, his voice booming like a distant thunder. "No one is allowed to talk!"
As the commander issued the edict, the well-disciplined soldiers quickly restored the peace and quiet in the area.
Under everyone's gaze, Noah slowly ascended the fighter, which cost up to 20 billion dollars.
As the engine roared to life, the fighter slowly lifted off the ground and ascended into the air.
Every soldier on the square wore a stern expression. Even without a command, they all saluted and bode their farewell to Noah.
With six other white fighter jets accompanying it, Noah's fighter jet quickly left the border and flew towards the distance.
"Charlotte! I'm coming back to see you now!" Noah cried in determination. There was a resolute look in his eyes as he pushed the throttle lever of the fighter.
The speed of the fighter reached six times beyond the speed of sound, causing a loud sonic boom to explode in the air as it headed straight towards Bayhedge.
Three hours later, Noah, who was directly piloting the fighter, slowly landed on the open landing site at SkyLink Airport, located at the central area of Bayhedge.
On both sides of the landing site, hundreds of soldiers wearing black armed uniforms sealed off the scene, preventing anyone from passing through.
Hudson Reynolds, the Chairman of the Bayhedge Chamber of Commerce and President of the Paysine Group, rushed to the scene upon hearing the news. However, the massive crowd that had formed beforehand blocked his way.
Hudson knew better not to force his way through. Although there was an urgent look burning in eyes, he knew that his only option now was to stand and wait.
"Mr. Reed! Mr. Reed! It really is Mr. Reed! He's back!" Hudson shouted, his expression bursting in elation as he watched the man walk out and descend from the fighter.
"Mr. Reed! It's me, Hudson! I'm here!" Hudson excitedly waved his hands, hoping to catch Noah's attention.
However, at this point, all Noah could think about was Charlotte. Everything else was irrelevant. Without acknowledging Hudson, he headed straight to the car prepared for him in advance and left the airport.
When Noah arrived at the Fernandez family, his eyes widened in shock as he read the words flashing on the screen in the hall.
"Congratulations to Miss Charlotte Pierce and Mr. Tommy Fernandez for their engagement!"
In an instant, Noah's face darkened as murderous intent surged in his heart.
Four years ago, Charlotte was a beautiful and famous female CEO in Bayhedge.
One rainy night, Noah had an accident while he was on a mission in Bayhedge, rendering him seriously injured. His injuries were so severe that he ended up collapsing by the roadside.
In that moment of need, it was Charlotte and her kind-heartedness that rescued him from his perilous situation.
While he was recovering from his injury, it was then that Noah and Charlotte began to develop feelings for each other.
Charlotte wanted to marry Noah, but her family opposed to it.
In the eyes of the Pierce family, Noah was just some random man she had picked up from the roadside. They saw him as nothing more than a wandering beggar who wanted to take advantage of Charlotte. In other words, they didn't deem him worthy of her.
It wasn't until Charlotte threatened them with her own life that the Pierce family finally succumbed to her demand to marry Noah.
However, shortly after their marriage, bad news came from the southwestern border of Doriland.
At that point, Noah had already recovered from his injuries.
In order to protect Doriland, he had no choice but to leave Charlotte.
She had told him that she would wait for Noah to come back, and now, he had finally returned.
Upon entering the hotel, Noah saw the guests in the lobby, clinking their glasses and enjoying casual chats.
"I really pity Ms. Pierce," one of the guests commented. "Four years ago, everyone looked up to her like she was a goddess. But then, she ended up marrying a beggar who later ran away. That must've been such a huge disgrace to the Pierce family."
"Julian couldn't tolerate others mocking his daughter, which is why he forced her to get engaged to Tommy, that playboy."
"I heard that she locked herself in her room for several days as an act of protest."
As Noah listened to the guests talk, his hands balled into tight fists, and the expression on his face turned ice cold.
In the four years that he was away, he could only imagine how much suffering and humiliation that kind and fragile women had to endure.
But now that he was back, everyone and everything that had inflicted even an ounce of misery onto Charlotte must disappear!
As Noah fixed his eyes onto the stage where the bride was, his heart trembled.
The woman in front of him was none other than his wife, Charlotte. Even though four years had passed, he hadn't forgotten a single thing about her.
She was wearing a white wedding dress that showcased her long legs and exquisite figure.
Her skin was as fair as snow, but at this moment, her face looked pale. Despite that, she still resembled a fairy straight out of a painting.
Four years had passed, and Noah still thought of her as the most beautiful woman in the world.
The only thing marring that beauty was her eyes red from crying and the tears that had made her face wet.
Noah gnashed his teeth as he marched towards the center of the hall.
As soon as he arrived, Charlotte immediately recognized him.
"It's you! You finally came back! Noah!"
A look of excitement and joy flickered in Charlotte's eyes as her heart swelled with intense emotions. She looked at Noah in disbelief, tears streaming down her swollen eyes.
"I'm sorry for being late," Noah apologized to her.
He was a man who had faced countless enemies on the battlefield without flinching. And yet, the mere sight of his woman was enough to make his voice crack.
Out of the blue, Charlotte smacked Noah hard across the face before covering her face once again and continued sobbing.
Noah took all the impact of that slap. He knew that he deserved it.
The next second, Charlotte raised her hand again, but this time, the slap didn't land.
"Noah! I haven't heard from you since you left. It's been four years. I thought you were dead. Do you have any idea how much I've had to go through all these years?"
Charlotte's voice was hoarse, and her tears continued flowing nonstop.
Noah didn't utter a single word. Instead, he stretched out his arms and pulled Charlotte into an embrace.
"I'm sorry," he whispered to her ear after some time.
As he stroked Charlotte's hair, he vowed to himself that he would protect this woman at all cost. He would never let anyone bully her again.
"Ladies and gentlemen!" Noah announced to the crowd in front of him, his deep voice booming throughout the hall.
"Today's engagement banquet is nothing but a farce. Charlotte is my wife. As such, he can't be engaged to anyone else. Thus, this banquet is hereby cancelled. Every one of you may leave now."
Noah's voice, full of vitality, reached everyone's ears.
His words fell like a bomb on a still lake, causing massive ripples as murmurs and whispers broke from the crowd.
"Who's this guy?"
"Could he be the beggar that Ms. Pierce married four years ago?"
"It's been four years! How does he have the audacity to still come back? I thought the Pierce family had already taken care of this guy..."
As the scene in the luxuriously decorated hall was starting to become unruly, three figures rushed down from upstairs with menacing looks on their faces.
It was Charlotte's sister, Caroline, her mother, Hazel, and her father, Julian.
"Noah! You unfaithful man! Why are you back here all of a sudden? We all thought that you had died outside long ago!" Caroline shouted at him, her disdain clear to see in her face.
"It's all because of you!" Julian chimed in, his face sporting the same expression as Caroline's. "Because of you, my daughter has been endlessly mocked for four whole years! Get out of here right now! If you don't, then don't blame me for what I'm about to do you!"
Despite their fierce demands, Noah remained unfazed. His face turned more serious as he said, "I assure all of you that this time, I will bring Charlotte happiness!"
"Shut up!" Hazel scolded him. "You're just a loser! What kind of happiness can you give my daughter anyway?"
She then pointed to a young man wearing a suit and declared loudly, "The only man who can make Charlotte happy is him, the third son of the Fernandez family, Tommy Hernandez!"
Noah then turned his head to look at the man Hazel was pointing at, only to see that the man was actually approaching him with a security guard in tow.
"Where did this guy come from?" Tommy cursed as he approached Noah in large strides. "How dare you snatch my woman from me at our engagement banquet?"
In Bayhedge, Tommy was notorious for his bullying and mischief.
Thus, he never expected that someone would be brave enough to come and steal his woman at their very engagement banquet.
"Tell you what: I'll give you three seconds to let go of Charlotte and get out of here!" Tommy threatened.
However, this didn't strike any fear in Noah's heart. He shot him a cold look and retorted, "The one who'll be leaving is you!"
The boldness of his response made Tommy gnash his teeth. "That's it! You'll go to hell!" He turned to the bodyguard beside him and ordered, "You! Teach this guy a lesson!"
"Yes, Young Master!"
Following his command, a security guard with a hulking and formidable figure stepped forward and threw a punch aimed at Noah.
"Be careful!" Charlotte exclaimed.
"You want to fight with me? You must have a death wish!"
With a sneer, Noah lifted his foot and kicked the security guard in the gut.
With a single powerful kick, the security guard was launched backwards, blasting away like a cannonball.
Everyone who saw this gasped in shock, unable to believe what they had just seen.
"Damn you! How dare you fight back!" Tommy gnashed his teeth even tighter, his jaw clattering in rage.
"Everyone! Come out and lend a hand!"
Upon Tommy's orders, more than ten scrappy young men rose to their feet.
A malicious look flashed in Tommy's eyes as a wicked grin formed on his face. "Break this guy's legs for me!"
"Yes, boss!"
The thugs cracked their knuckles as they began walking toward Noah like he was prey.
But all of a sudden, the hotel door was kicked open.
There, over a hundred soldiers emerged, armed with submachine guns as they rushed into the hotel lobby.
The soldiers moved so fast that in less than three seconds, they managed to completely surround the entire hotel lobby.

"Never," he whispered, his grip tightening as he pulled me closer. "Soon enough, you'll be begging for me. and when you do-I'll use you as I see fit and then I'll reject you."
