In the story I want to tell how we met and how the love story started and how we got married.
The main character, Edie, was a young girl working on The Peebles home. Her role is a baby sitter at their house for the two young children. One day, a man flew in on an airplane. I assumed that planes must have been pretty new because he was there giving people rides. The pilot was a man named Chris Watters. Of course, the story makes you believe that this was the man who was going to end up being her husband. The first time he saw her,he just so happened to be coming over to get a pump and she just so happened to be dressed up in a dress, heels, and makeup which she NEVER wears.
Pretty coincidental. After they meet and exchange a few words, he lets her know how nice and beautiful she looked and he left. Her being so young, she was never used to someone saying such nice things to her, and she didn't even respond to him. After this first encounter, she makes sure the kids are asleep and sneaks off to spend time with Chris.
He offers a cigarette then they begin to smoke and talk together. After they spend this time together, we can tell Edie is starting to like Chris. The next day he then asks her to come up, even extending a free ride to her and a cigarette. A day or two goes by and a new character is introduced who claims to be engaged to Chris named Alice. When he finds out that she's there he puts signs up around his plan saying no more rides during the evening and Edie goes out there to check on him. Once she gets there with a cake, he invites her in and tells her about his plan to get out of there by 5 tomorrow. After they
talk about it a little bit, he begins to kiss her and she really enjoys it. I'm pretty sure they were about to have sex until he realized how young she was and jumped up. He promised to write her letters when he left. The letter was supposed to contain details about his location and they'd meet up there one day.
The day he took off, his "fiance" had no idea it was going to happen. Eventually her and Edie end up getting into this big argument where Alice calls Edie a few inappropriate things. Edie really brought it on herself by trying to brag about what happened between the two of them. She was trying to hurt Alice's feelings when she said it and ended up feeling dumb in the end.
As months went on without Edie ever receiving a letter for Chris, she finally realized it was never going to happen. She had an epiphany. Edie thought about women all over the world living their lives waiting on man to come through for them. She didn't want to end up dying waiting for someone whose probably forgot all about her. She stopped going to meet the mailman everyday for the mail, and he was worried about her and called the Peebles asking about her. She ended up marrying him.
I was pretty upset with the story because I felt like I was reading about her and Chris who seemed like they were going to end up being together. There was so much useless information in it that didn't even contribute to the overall point of the story, I can say
