ALPHA GABRIEL RIVER'S POV
There she layed in all her glory, everything about her yelled perfection, and yet deep inside I knew she wouldn't be the one for me. I already made a huge mistake before realizing what I was stepping into.
I fell in love with my maid, Elena had everything a man could ever wish for but she was still nothing but a maid to me.
She turned slowly in my direction while I stood still staring at her.
"What's the time, you should have woken me up earlier." She murmured to me with a pale smile on her face while laying half-naked on my bed.
"I just wanted you to rest for a change," I said to her, making her pale smile fade away.
"You know that can't happen, I need to be woken up early due to my chores." She replied, she stood up gracefully with the blankets still wrapped around her chest.
"Everything about the both of us isn't right and yet you have fun watching me sleep." She questioned while slowly pacing towards me. She placed her hands on my chest with a smirk on her face.
"I still need to protect my dignity." She whispered to me.
"What dignity? I never said I won't marry you, Elena." I whispered in her eyes, making her tense up.
I gazed into Elena's eyes, searching for any signs of doubt or hesitation. But all I found was determination and a glimmer of hope. She wanted to believe me, she wanted to trust that I would keep my promise.
"Elena, I know that our situation is complicated, but I want you to know that I am completely serious about marrying you," I said firmly, my voice filled with conviction. "I understand the consequences and the challenges we may face, but I am willing to face them all if it means being with you."
Elena looked at me, her expression a mixture of surprise and disbelief. "But Gabriel, you're the Alpha, the leader of our pack. Marrying me, a mere maid would create chaos and conflict within our pack. They might not accept me as their Luna."
I cupped her face in my hands, gently stroking her cheeks with my thumbs. "I don't care about the opinions of others, Elena. What matters is what we feel for each other. Love should never be limited by societal norms or titles. I choose you, Elena, not just as my mate, but as my equal and partner."
Elena's eyes filled with tears, and I felt a pang of guilt wash over me. She had endured so much rejection and judgment because of our relationship, and it was time for me to put an end to it.
"I promise you, Elena. I promise to fight for us, to fight for our love," I vowed, my voice filled with determination. "I will do whatever it takes to make our relationship public, to make you my Luna, and to show our pack that their Alpha stands by the choices he makes," I added, she smiled at my words before slowly pulling my hands from her cheeks.
"You can make all those promises now but that would not change the fact that I need to return to work." She said before walking away, I still don't understand why she finds it so hard to believe me.
After Elena left I decided to have breakfast with my mom for a change and maybe talk about my choice for once. Elena needs to see me in action to understand what I mean.
"Princess Bethany from the Blackwood clan would be spending the night here, hope you won't have a problem with that." Those were the first words my mother uttered to me immediately after I joined her to have breakfast.
"Are you trying to set us up together also?" I questioned making her smile.
"Why are you delaying your coronation, you can't mess around forever." She said but more like a whisper. Elena walks in with a few delicacies on a tray while my mom continues to glare at her in disgust.
Elena drops the dishes and bows before walking out. I wonder how she is always able to keep a straight face and avoid my stares during her working hours.
"Gabriel." My mom called out to me, bringing me back to my senses.
"Huh," I responded.
"You need to settle down, and not all this rubbish you keep doing. You have an obligation which you have to fulfill, you won't be able to do anything this way."
" What do you mean by rubbish? And who said I was doing rubbish?" I questioned, also curious at what she meant.
"You think I don't know?" She whispered.
"Know what?" I asked, dropping the spoon in my hands.
"That you sleep with the maids secretly." She whispered like someone would slit her throat if they heard her.
I relaxed in my seat more comfortably before laughing out loud.
"And why are you whispering, I wasn't hiding it from you ..it's the truth and you have to face it," I said to her,
"Gabriel !!!!!" She yelled, slamming her spoon on the table.
"You think I don't see the way you look at her, you know I can make her quit her job but I won't do that. I want her to witness you abandoning her." My mom exclaimed.
"That would never happen." I reminded her before leaving the dining premises, but as I took a corner I found Elena standing there with the tray still in her hands while she used her hands to hold her mouth together, I could see tears piling up in her eyes as she stared at me.
"Elena," I called out to her before pulling her in for a tight hug.
" I am sorry Gabriel, I am putting you in such a tight spot." She whispered before running off. I was about to chase after her when I noticed a few maids hiding behind the walls to spy on us. I just slowly went back to my quarters.
I paced back and forth in my study, frustration building up inside me. It wasn't fair that I had to hide my love for Elena from everyone. As the Alpha, I should be able to make my own choices and follow my heart, but it seemed like the opinions of others held more power over me than my desires.
The pack's traditions and societal norms dictated that I should be with someone of high status, someone who could bring power and influence to our pack. But I didn't care about any of that. All I cared about was being with Elena, the woman who had captured my heart and soul.
I had tried to convince Elena to trust in our love, to believe that I would fight for us, but I couldn't blame her for her doubts. She had been rejected and judged for our relationship, and it was understandable that she had built up walls to protect herself.
But I couldn't let her go. I couldn't let her slip away from me because of the narrow-minded views of others. I would fight for her, I would fight for our love, no matter the consequences.
I made my way back to my quarters, determination burning inside me. I needed to find a way to make our relationship public, to show the pack that I stood by my choices.
As I entered my quarters, I found Elena sitting on the edge of the bed, tears staining her cheeks. She looked up at me, her eyes filled with a mix of sadness and hope.
"I'm sorry, Gabriel," she whispered, her voice cracking. "I didn't mean for any of this to happen. I never wanted to come between you and your duties as Alpha."
I walked towards her and gently knelt in front of her, taking her hands in mine. "Elena, you have never come between me and my duties. If anything, you have made me a better Alpha. You have shown me the importance of love and compassion."
She sniffed and wiped away her tears with the back of her hand. "But what about the pack? They won't accept me as their Luna. I will always be seen as the maid who stole their Alpha's heart."
I cupped her face in my hands, staring into her tear-filled eyes. "I don't care what the pack thinks. Our love is stronger than their judgments. I will make them see that."
Elena gave me a small smile, a glimmer of hope shining through her sadness. "How? How will you do that, Gabriel?"
I took a deep breath and spoke with conviction. "I will announce our relationship to the pack. I will make it clear that you are my chosen mate, regardless of your status. I will fight for us, Elena, and I won't rest until we are accepted and respected by the pack."
A mixture of disbelief and joy crossed Elena's face. "Do you mean it, Gabriel? Will you do all that?"
I nodded, determination coursing through my veins. "I promise you, Elena. I will do whatever it takes to make our love known. We deserve to be happy, and I won't let anyone stand in our way."
Elena reached out and pulled me into a tight embrace, her tears soaking into my shirt. "Thank you, Gabriel. Thank you for standing by me. I love you."
"Gabriel!!!" It was my mom yelling from the passage, I heard her pace getting closer, I was relaxed but Elena wasn't.
"Alpha Gabriel, please let me leave now." Elena pleaded.
"No, you won't leave. My mom needs to face reality." I said to her but she shrugged, staring around in panic.
" Just let me hide somewhere at least." She said, rushing towards my closet. Smiled quickly before hiding and just then my mother barged in with a frown on her face.
"Where is that slut!!!" My mother yelled, scanning my bedroom.
" Who are you looking for?" I asked.
" You think I don't know who you were sleeping around with,"
" Why are you taking this so seriously?" I asked.
"Princess Bethany mustn't find out about your mischievous behavior till you two become mates."
" What do you mean by mate?"
" It had been arranged, since you haven't been able to find your real mate we would form an alliance with another family so you can start ruling your packs with a firm grip as your father did." She said,
"And you definitely can't say no because it has all been arranged." She added.
