LEONTIOS' POV
"Get out of my way!" I hissed, pushing past the cloaked figure that stood in my path.
"You don't want to do this," the cloaked figure said, his voice low and raspy.
"I have to," I replied, my eyes fixed on the dark alley ahead of me. "The Romans are raising threats against us. You do not expect me to sit and watch them perform their enterprise.
"There are other ways," the cloaked figure insisted, grabbing me by the arm. "You do not have to do it this way. And I have mentioned countless times that you should not allow your emotions to cloud your judgement." He gently gripped his rod tighter as he made his statement.
I pulled away and glared at the cloaked figure.
"My King, remember your regime is going to be short lived. You cannot afford to make reckless decisions because of your temper. And you needn't prove anything that you'll regret later." He warned.
"My King, the magistrate has requested to see you." A guard called and he dashed into the throne room. The magistrate followed, holding a list.
I knew what the announcement was about, whilst I collected the list from the magistrate to check it out. My breathing became slightly ragged as I became enraged.
"This wasn't supposed to be the case." I blurted out.
"You cannot withhold punishment from whom it is due. A rebellious woman cannot be accepted as one of us." The cloaked man said.
"There has to be another way." I whispered.
"You're dismissed. And make sure she receives the punishment she deserves." He takes the seal and waits patiently for me to take it. I didn't... hesitant, I stared at the seal.
Then I slowly took it from him...eyes lingering on the list in front of me before I pressing the seal against it.
The magistrate and the guard left the moment they collected the seal.
Raged, I turned to the cloaked man.
"You are not her mate, neither is she anywhere near your class. It's preposterous to try and save her." He said calmly as usual.
"You cannot say that because I'm deeply in love with that woman."
"You cannot lose guard because of a woman." He gritted out. "And just because you loved her doesn't permit you as the ruler to interfere with the laws of the empire." He contorted.
But I stepped down the stairs attached to my throne and walked past the man.
"My King!" He called.
I do not care what it is that he wishes me to be as the Ruler of Greece. I live by my own rules and nobody can question that.
I hurried past the knights while my watchmen followed behind me. Having every individual bow as I strode through the corridor had me paying no attention, all I wanted to do was to save Thaleia.
The supposed bride of the Caesar of Rome and the rebellious of all women in Greece.
Her beauty attracted so many and her refusal of the proposal had made her a living example to other women.
Althea, her little sister of sixteen years just has mesmerizing as Thaleia I believe has picked up on the rebellious trait of her older sister.
And while I believed that Thaleia was indeed right for standing on her belief. It was also rebellious to betray the principles of her society least she becomes a common woman and a laughing stock to all other women.
And knowing Thaleia, she would rather be executed than made a mockery.
That was the reason I was hurrying to the execution ground. I didn't want it to be a choice, neither a chance for her to kill herself.
I will take her as my bride if nobody else does. I cannot afford to watch her executed. I will bring back that honor she lost.
The crowd was gathered as they watched with curiosity and morbid fascination.
The magistrate was a stern-faced man, dressed in a dark robe. He looked down at Thaleia with disdain. How dare he?
"You have been brought before me for the crime of refusing to marry the man chosen for you by your father," the magistrate said. "This is a grave offense against the law and against your family. The punishment for such a crime is severe, and you must be made an example to others who would follow in your footsteps."
Thaleia tried to speak, but her words were cut off by the magistrate's raised hand. "Silence!" he thundered. "You have been found guilty, and now you will face the consequences of your actions."
"Take her to the square, and bind her to the whipping post," he commanded. The young woman let out a cry of fear as the guards led her away, but there was no escape.
As the crowd watched, Thaleia was bound to the post, her back exposed to the sun. The magistrate picked up a whip, and the air was filled with the sound of its cracking.
And when he raised it...
A growl echoed in the air, loud, clear and authoritative.
The people cowered sensing the pressure in the atmosphere.
I had no idea the growl had come from me till the guards around me stepped back in fear.
I was ready to face anyone who dared lay a finger on her. I growled again. Believe it or not the consequences were going to be severe.
"My King, you have given your word and you have sealed the punishment. You cannot go back on it..." The magistrate mentioned boldly.
Nobody could do anything to me. I was the King, I had the final word. My voice was not my voice... because my wolf had taken over.
"You should think twice before touching her. A single misstep, and you will become a pawn in your own game."
For two years, Ashton had poured his heart into his marriage, yet Emalee's heart remained cold. Despite his dedication, Emalee presented him with divorce papers. She bluntly stated she could not remain married to a man whose net worth was less than a million dollars. Ashton signed the papers, closing one chapter of his life and stepping into a new beginning. Then, Ashton revealed his secret identities: a music mogul, a medical expert, and a martial arts master—each persona impressive enough to stun the world. As Ashton’s true capabilities came to light, Emalee was overwhelmed with deep regret.
"You're mine, little puppy," Kylan growled against my neck. A soft gasp escaped my lips as his lips brushed my skin. My mind screamed at me to push him away-the Lycan Prince who had humiliated me again and again, but my body betrayed me, leaning into him before I could stop myself. He pressed his lips against mine, and his kiss grew more aggressive, more possessive as I felt my legs weaken. What was I doing? In a split-second, I pulled away and slapped him hard across the face. Kylan's eyes darkened, but the smirk on his lips exposed his amusement. "You and I both know we can't fight this, Violet," he said, gripping my wrist. "You're my mate." "And yet you don't want me," I replied. "You told me you were ashamed of me, that l'd never be your queen, that you'd never love me. So please, accept my rejection and let me go." "Never," he whispered, his grip tightening as he pulled me closer. "Soon enough, you'll be begging for me. and when you do-I'll use you as I see fit and then I'll reject you."
Billionaire Bennett Graham urgently needed a wife to close a business deal but his fiancée wasn't ready to tie the knots yet. So his grandmother picked the most unassuming maid for him. Everything was supposed to go incredibly well, and all he had to do was wait until he divorced her a year later. But after seeing Maliyah's ocean eyes.it wasn't looking simple anymore. *** Before I could get her up, it was as if she felt the light and an uncomfortable sound came out of her mouth. "Uh-huh..." She raised her hand to cover her eyes. But I didn't have time to wait for her to wake up, so I told her to "Get Up." My voice seemed to scare her, and her light-fearing eyes suddenly widened and she kept moving to the corner. The only voice in the quiet art room was her fear-filled voice, "No...please...go away...don't come close to me." She was afraid of me? I hadn't even spoken to her before, what was she afraid of? This was definitely not going to work, I couldn't talk to her if she couldn't calm down. Then I moved closer to her, my hand on her trembling shoulder, and I whispered soothingly "Calm down.I'm not going to hurt you.I'm not going to hurt you."I assured and then she moved her hair away from her face as if to stare at me properly. Our eyes met.It was that moment. It felt as if I was enchanted for a moment. Those ocean eyes were the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen.
"Please don't do this. I beg of you." I mustered up the courage to speak these words. My voice is pleading, and my eyes are desperate to get to him. "I can't wait any longer. You don't know how bad I want you; even your tears turns me on." His face came closer to me. I could feel his warm breath on my face, and his words sent a chill down my spine. ☆☆☆ When a dangerous captor sets his sights on a young girl, he knows he needs to have her, even if it means taking her against her will.
My name is Katia, and I am just trying to survive until my fated mate arrives. Which may be easier said than done. Rejectection is the last straw. Whispering my acceptance of his rejection. I run through the pack house, out across the manicured lawn into the forest. "I'm sorry, my sweet girl," I say to my wolf. I'm sorry you have been stuck with me and have had to suffer everything I have. She whispers," it's not your fault, Katia. We came to a cliff with a waterfall. The hurt keeps pounding at me. I need it to stop. My sweet girl, and I just want peace, I keep running and leap off the cliff. Spreading my arms wide, with tears streaming down my face, I fall, not making a sound, waiting for sweet oblivion where we feel nothing ever again. "I love you, my sweet girl! Until we meet again, "My wolf replied just before we hit the water, "I love you too, Katia. I have never regretted a moment with you." The Snow Moon pack is having their last barbecue of the summer next to the waterfall on their land. The adults are laughing and joking while watching the pups play. The alpha, beta, and gamma are swimming with some of the older children and playing a game of Marco Polo. Someone yells, "Oh my goddess, someone just jumped over the waterfall!" Everyone is frozen as they watch what looks to be a child falling arms spread wide, no one makes a sound. The small body hits the water like a plane crashing into the side of a mountain. The alpha, beta, and gamma, spring into action, swimming towards the area the person went under. The alpha is screaming his wolf is going crazy repeating, "Find her. Find her...find her!" They dive and the beta surfaces with a small person in his arms. Alpha takes the girl from his beta, laying her on the ground. The men are shocked by what they see. She is covered in scars and injuries. Her body is twisted and broken. The Beta asks, "Who could have done this to someone so defenseless?" Alpha drops to his knees, repeating, "MATE...MATE...MATE!"
Drugged and deceived, she bore a child amidst tragedy-her son, falsely declared dead at birth.
