"I Arthur Carter reject you and caught all bonds with you." Those words chattered Selina as she was thrown into the cave even before realising it. She was sacrificed as their annual vessel two days after she got married after realising that her destined mate was her husband's younger brother. What will be her fate?
Selina's POV
I sat down, distressed, on my bed with my heart racing. I was getting mated on this day without even my consent.
My hair was styled, and my dress clung pretty to my skin. I was looking beautiful-or, would I say, more beautiful than usual?
"Annie! Annie." I whispered. "I need you right now. Annie,'' I called again, this time giving up.
"Urrh". I sighed as I heard my doors creak.
"Miss Selina, the Alpha requests to see you," a maid announced.
"Lead the way." I sighed.
"Yes, Miss". She bowed and opened the door widely while I walked out.
I walked behind her as we made our way to the pack hall. I took a deep breath as I began to hear distant chattering. The noise became louder the more steps I took.
"Lady Selina has arrived." A man announced, tinkling a fork and a glass. I got to the door immediately. He was the beta of the park.
The hall fell silent. I could hear my footsteps as I walked in. I darted my eyes around the hall in search of my soon-to-be mate. I wasn't shy about looking around, despite the crowd. One thing my late mother told me was to never act timid, despite the situation.
"Come to your father, daughter." My father requested.
I let out a fake smile as I climbed the stairs to meet him. He stretched out his hands while I placed mine on his as he helped me count my steps.
"Today!" He began. "As we all know, my daughter, Lady Selina, will be addressed as mated before noon. We've carried out some rituals requested by the moon goddess, and they are eligible to be mated."
The crowd began to chatter and sing songs of praise. I let out a heavy sigh because it wasn't the first time they were celebrating absolute rubbish.
"Come, come, daughter, your mate awaits you," my father smiled as I pulled my hands to work with him.
My eyes popped open when I saw him. He had curly brown hair, and his face formed an oval shape. His lips were minted pink, and his brows were carved into good shape.
I darted my eyes around his body. Indeed, I haven't seen such a handsome man in my pack.
"Meet my daughter, Selina, and Selina; meet your in-laws and your mate.".
"Mate?" I blurted out upon seeing the man to whom my father pointed.
"Yes, Mate. I know you don't know yourselves yet, but with time, you will." He assured me.
"Father, I."
"I'll leave you to be the good daughter your mother taught you to be." He smiles and walks away.
I let out a soft groan because it just happened again. I was never given the opportunity to speak out. Never!
"Are you okay?" a muscular voice asked in a calm tone.
I darted my eyes in search of the voice, and when my eyes met his, I said, "Yes, yes, I'm fine." I responded, catching my breath.
"I think you'll make a good wife for my brother." He teased me.
"Oh damn! Is he your brother? how handsome." Annie blurted out.
"Oh please!" I cautioned her in silence; when I needed her, she was nowhere to be found."
"I hope so." I smiled at him. "I should say hello to your parents.".
"Oh, please." He stretched his hands towards her parents and gave me the go-ahead.
Why didn't it have to be him? Why did it have to be this cruel person that hardly noticed me?" I self-spoke.
"Greetings, my Alpha; greetings, my Luna." I smiled at them.
"Welcome to our family," his mother said while her husband smiled.
Tim, Tim, Tim! The sound of a fork and glass was heard, drawing everyone's attention.
"It's the mood of celebrations, so let's wine and dine." My father announced.
The rest of the evening was usual for me. I didn't see anything new or special; there was zero feeling of tension that I was getting mated. I wondered if the royal mating books I read were performed with no emotions, the same way I felt.
I only wish my mother was alive; maybe I would have felt a bit of sorrow before leaving.
"The carriage is ready, my lady." A man in his mid-fifties whispered to my mate's mother.
My father's presence was requested as they told him about our leaving.
My father darted his eyes toward me. I could see the tenderness in them. I wasn't sure of what it was, but I knew he was definitely going to miss me.
"Go well, daughter; we shall meet again." He hugged me and walked me outside the hall to where the waiting carriage was.
My new family walked behind me while my son-in-law stood before me and was making his way into the carriage.
"How cruel," I muttered.
"Did you say something?" My father acquired.
"Yes, father. Whatever reason you did this, whatever reason you mated me to a total stranger, even going as far as conducting the moon goddess should be worth it." I sighed, hugged him finally, and stepped into the carriage.
It was a long ride as we tailgated on the narrow and deserted road, far away from my pack. I became tired and wanted to sleep but wouldn't dare; at least I needed to be vigilant when with complete strangers.
No one said a word to each other as we drove in complete silence. We approved a mighty mansion. It had few reflections of fire from the windows. The horses began to feeble as we got closer.
I stared at the surroundings as we drove inside. It looked old and abandoned. Some trees were dead, while others looked uncultivated.
"Get down!" my mate's mother demanded.
I was astonished, wondering how she got down from the carriage before me.
"Yes ma'am." I responded as I stood in front of her.
"Henceforth, address me as Luna. You are in my pack, my territory." She boasted.
"Yes, my Luna." I succumbed.
"I, the new appointed alpha, rejects you, Aurora as my Luna and even if we are mated, I still reject you". Those words were the most hurtful and unexpected words Aurora heard. She and Alfred have been lovers since their teenage age. After the murder of her parents, she gave out her Alpha position to Alfred with an agreement to become his Luna. "You're a creepy bastard." His eyes smolder me and his answering grin is nothing short of beautiful. Deadly. "Yet you hunger for me. Tell me, this appetite of yours, does it always tend toward 'creepy bastards'?" **** Widower and ex-boss to the Mafia, Zefiro Della Rocca, has an unhealthy fixation on the woman nextdoor. He was the only man who touched her right, and the crazy man took no small pains in ensuring he would be the last.
