I was rejected, but soon, I will marry a wheelchair-bound Rogue. "Is this your fiancé?" "Yes, he is my husband, Raymond Black," I introduced. "How shameful, you are marrying this... uh, rogue, who has no clan, no fixed pack, and can't even protect you if attacked by other werewolves?" I stood at the altar, with many people below, as if saying to me: you are such a fool! Raymond said beside me, "Caitlin, if you want to back out, you still have a chance now, you can choose to run away." I shook my head, "No... I won't run away, you will be my husband." I saw a hint of surprise in his emerald, green eyes. ******* I was set up by my best friend to have sex with a strange man, my first MATE rejected me, an enemy weapon ran through my father's heart, pierced my mother's body. My best friend's family stripped me of my ALPHA status, and I became everyone's go-to OMEGA. Until that man came along, Rogue, and he saved me, but... I found that he seemed to hide a lot of secrets, wait, my second mate is alpha king?!
Caitlin's POV
"Caitlin! You should be in the kitchen right now, not in the basement! Are you trying to slack off again?"
Judy's hoarse voice echoed through the house, and I sighed resignedly, getting up from the creaky old spring bed.
She is the beta female of the pack and my nightmare.
My name is Caitlin Hill, and I am the omega of the Fang pack.
A year ago, I was the sole alpha heir in the pack.
"Caitlin!" Judy urged again.
"Coming!"
I replied, looking at myself in the mirror. My golden-brown hair was hidden under a baseball cap, and my sapphire blue eyes were filled with weariness.
High nose, attractive lips, but all of this was concealed by the coal dust from the basement.
I did this on purpose; beauty only attracts more trouble.
In the kitchen, I was preparing breakfast for today, toast and eggs.
Judy waved the cane in her hand and harshly struck my arm, "You shouldn't be slacking off! Christmas is just a few months away, and we have a lot to prepare!"
I lowered my head obediently to avoid more beatings.
"Where's Beth?" a man's voice came from the doorway, and my body tensed.
That man was my former fiancé and my first mate, Jason.
I remember, once under the silver moonlight, he stood in front of the bonfire in the forest and said to me, "Caitlin, you will be my lover, I will only love you."
But later, I was drugged by my best friend Beth and ended up in bed with a stranger, all witnessed by Jason.
He rejected me, and I couldn't forget it. He didn't listen to my explanations and firmly said, "I, Jason Henry, reject you, Caitlin Hill, as my mate."
My heart ached, a wolf howled inside me, and I could feel her sadness and despair.
I endured the heartache and responded to his rejection.
After being rejected, I didn't show any other werewolf symptoms, no burning pain or death.
Strangely, after a brief heartache, both my wolf and I returned to normal.
But the next day, my parents were cruelly killed by enemies, and Beth's father took advantage of the situation, becoming the new alpha of the Fang pack.
Everything happened so fast, as if it had been planned.
When I realized it, Beth was already engaged to Jason, and Jason's second mate turned out to be Beth?!
As for me, Beth stood in front of me, looking down at me, "Caitlin, I won't drive you out of the pack, I will take care of you, but your abilities are too weak. You can only stay as an omega in the pack."
I had just come of age, and it took many transformations to succeed, a very painful process, and my wolf was weak. If I were driven out of the pack, I didn't know how to survive.
But staying was also a nightmare.
They withheld all my "wages," and apart from some leftover bread I could eat every day, I had nothing else.
"I told you! I will never marry her! My fiancé is only Jason!" Beth's sharp voice came from the study. When she saw Jason, her anger turned into surprise, and she jumped into Jason's arms like a lively rabbit.
I turned away, pretending not to see any of it.
Although it had been a year, I still couldn't let go. My fiancé married my best friend.
I brought the toast and eggs to Beth, and her sweet face smiled at me, "Thank you."
Then she lowered her voice and said to me, "Covering up your beauty was the right choice, Caitlin. You know, I care a lot about your past with Jason."
I nodded without saying a word.
Alpha Joseph also arrived at the table; he was Beth's father.
At the dining table, they argued again, and I sat in the utility room staircase nibbling on dry bread, looking at the book in my hands.
"Beth! You should follow my words!"
"Sorry, Joseph, Beth is my fiancée, she should marry me."
"But this is a blood oath!" Joseph slammed the table, his tone filled with helplessness.
With a vow sealed in blood, those who break it will die.
Silence fell.
I strained to hear and caught Beth's words: "That man shouldn't be me either!"
The rest of her words faded away.
After breakfast, Joseph instructed me to go to the study.
Beth stood nearby, her golden curls cascading down, chin held high like a proud swan.
Joseph spoke, "Caitlyn, you should know that without us, you would have been killed by the enemy's pack or become their slave. It was at Beth's request that we took you in; you should remember our kindness."
I remained silence, if being treated as an omega and having my parents' pack taken away counted as kindness...
Beth looked down at me, "Now, here's your chance to repay that kindness, marry that sickly Rogue!"
"Then you won't have any thoughts about Jason anymore!"
Oh! Beth probably didn't know, after being rejected by Jason, I had no more thoughts about him. Not being trusted as a mate, I didn't want to go through that feeling again!
My wolf roared angrily within me, despite her small size, she despised all these arranged circumstances, longing for freedom and true love.
Quiet!
I told her.
I looked at Beth, "I agree to marry him."
I didn't want to marry a man I didn't love, especially a rogue who might emit a foul odor, lose his mind, and become aggressive.
But I wasn't afraid!
If I could escape from here!
Caitlyn's POV
Soon, that day arrived.
I wore a white linen dress, my only slightly presentable outfit, as the rest of my clothes had turned old and faded from washing.
After all, I didn't have a luxurious and beautiful wedding gown.
For the first time in a year, I wiped away the coal dust from my face, revealing my true self!
I sat in the dark, damp basement, waiting for that unfamiliar man.
My feelings were complex; leaving here was undoubtedly a relief, but I hadn't yet discovered the cause of my parents' deaths...
I didn't believe it was an accident!
And I had no idea what fate had in store for me next.
I gently touched the relic left by my mother, a necklace made of moonstone: "Moon Goddess, do I make a right choice?"
"Caitlyn! I think you should be ready!" Judy pushed open the iron door, allowing light to flood into my small basement room.
As I entered the hall, I finally saw the man.
Due to his disabled legs, he sat in a wheelchair, wearing a mask, but his pale lips clearly showed his weakness.
He looked sick for a long time, appearing much weaker compared to other healthy werewolves.
He was currently talking to Joseph, occasionally interrupted by coughing.
"Caitlyn?" Jason called out to me from the side, looking surprised to see me, then frowned, "So, you've given up on yourself just to marry such a wolf? He's a ROGUE!"
I frowned, sounding aloof, "I'm sorry, I don't understand what you mean, Jason."
"Even if you reject me and I refuse you, you shouldn't degrade yourself like this! I heard from Beth that you begged the alpha to marry him."
I couldn't help but chuckle, "Do you think I have the right to refuse? I'm the former alpha's daughter of the Sharp Fang pack. If I were to refuse the current alpha, Joseph would agree!"
Ha, did you hear that? My former mate had such a ridiculous idea, always believing Beth without giving me an ounce of trust.
With just a few words from Beth, he was convinced that I begged to marry a ROGUE.
Jason's expression turned from shock to disgust, "Beth was right, you're just a whore who can climb into different men's beds for a purpose."
Although we had severed ties, hearing such insults still made my heart ache.
"Darling," Beth's sweet voice came over, she leaned on Jason like a boneless shrimp, her hazel eyes gleaming with pride. But when she spoke, she put on that facade of kindness, "You don't need to persuade Caitlin anymore. I've tried to advise her, but she seems determined to marry that ROGUE."
"I can't believe that such a person was once my mate," Jason's face turned cold, he glared at me fiercely before turning and walking away.
After everyone left, Beth reverted to her usual sharp and sarcastic demeanor: "Did you see that? This is the man you're about to marry. He wears a mask because his face has been disfigured into a monster, and when he was driven out of the tribe, the alpha broke his legs."
"Haha, this is the destiny that suits you, Caitlin. You should marry a crippled monster! Instead of fantasizing about Jason!"
I turned to her, she looked surprised, then jealous. I knew she always resented my appearance, and she gritted her teeth, lowering her voice, "You should cover up your ugly face."
