Kendra was am average middle class girl who was born into an abusive family. She worked hard to finally be someone with the help of her siblings. She concluded high school four years ago where she experienced her first and most hurtful heartbreak by her ex , Reuben. After managing to get back on her feet, she encounters Reuben again and realized she still loves him. Reuben on the other hand has become a very successful boss and CEO of a fashion based company .
"Kendra!! Kendra!! Wake up. You'd be late for your job interview" said Christy, Kendra's older sister . Kendra tossed and turned on the bed before suddenly springing out of the bed.
"Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, I'm gonna be late" said Kendra as she picked up her toiletries in a hurry before entering the bathroom. "You slept past all the alarms you set for your interview, lil sis, I tried very hard to wake you up " Kendra heard Christy saying. "Where's Josh?" asked Kendra from the bathroom. "He stepped out for a bit" answered Christy.
In a flash, Kendra was out of the bathroom and trying to put on her clothes. "You know you have to get new clothes, right? You can't keep wearing all these old clothes over and over again" mumbled Christy. "I know big sis but you know that the city of Morado we live in spends high on fashion and I can't spend that high on clothes" replied Kendra. Kendra got dressed up and applied the little makeup she knew how to do , checked herself in the mirror and was putting on her shoes when she heard Christy shout from the kitchen "Kendra! You're gonna miss the bus, eat something before you leave". "I'm not hungry, I'm gonna miss the bus if I eat" Kendra shouted back.
Kendra made a bolt for the door as she waved at her sister. "Ok then,do your best" said Christy. "I will" shouted Kendra from the door.
Kendra ran as fast as she could to the bus stop and got there, panting heavily. "Phew, I'm on time" she said to herself as she checked the time on her phone. The bus arrived in no time and Kendra got on the bus and greeted the bus driver before strolling to her favourite seat on the bus. After sitting down, she looked out the window and began to reminisce about her life: she was the last child out of three children born into an abusive family, her older siblings,Josh and Christy were all she had in this world after they managed to escape from their parents. She thought about her dreams to be a fashion designer although she didn't have the money to be trained in that area so she settled for studying Economics in the university. She thought about high school where she had fallen in love for the very first time in her life with Reuben, her high school's star football player. who believed in her dream of becoming a fashion designer. Although Reuben broke her heart due to reasons she couldn't comprehend in high school and was never seen again, Kendra kept pushing and striving to be a better person, which was why she was going to apply as an intern to one of the biggest fashion company in the whole of Morado: Forza Fashion Haven.
She just hoped she'd get the spot because she had heard that it was a highly competitive job to acquire and she wasn't surprised. Forza Fashion Haven had built a strong name and gained solidarity in the fashion world in Morado. Kendra sighed as she snapped out of her reverie as the bus came to a stop . She got out of the bus and let the fresh air hit her on the face and she gazed at the building she was about to walk into. "Wow, it's magnificent" she thought to herself. "Okay Kendra , you can do this" she said to herself and walked into the building.
She entered into the ground floor of the building and went straight to the receptionist's desk. "Hi, I'm here for the internship interview" she said to the young lady behind the desk. The young lady looked her all over with contempt and said with a quirky smile "Are you sure you're not here for the cleaning job? Kendra knew that was meant to be an insult but she smiled back nevertheless and said "No, I'm here for the internship interview, I'm sure" . "Kendra Scott?" said the receptionist. "Yeah that's me" replied Kendra. "Tenth floor" said the receptionist as she eyed Kendra. "Thanks, but umm, where can I find the bathroom?" Kendra asked. "End of the corridor on every floor" replied the receptionist. "Thanks again" Kendra said before making her way to the bathroom on the ground floor. "Such a bitch" Kendra said under her breath.
Kendra got to the bathroom and looked into the mirror, she knew the receptionist looked down on her because of the way she was dressed but she didn't care. She was happy with herself and her body. At age 20, with a beautiful face and a height of 5 feet and 7 inches and a hot body filled in all the right places, she knew she had a satisfactory body. She felt a bit dizzy . She thought to herself about what she wanted to be and asked herself what she wanted most and something in her head replied to her question "A fresh start ".
She fixed her makeup, sighed and walked out of the bathroom ."Tenth floor, huh" she said to herself as she walked into the elevator and pressed the 10th floor button and the elevator started moving. She heard a ding after which the elevator doors and she walked out into the office area. She was still trying to find her way to where the interview was being conducted when suddenly, everybody began running helter skelter. She managed to stop a blonde young lady and asked her the cause of the commotion.
"The CEO is on his way, you don't want him to scold you for not doing your work properly" the lady said. She hurried away and left Kendra standing there, still confused. She decided to allow the commotion to settle before doing anything else and in the blink of an eye, all the workers assembled in a straight line with the blonde holding Kendra's hand to join them while they all bowed their heads.
The elevator doors opened with a ding and a young man fully decked up in a suit stepped out. His aura was alluring and Kendra found it oddly familiar. She couldn't see the man's face but she saw his shoes and tried to remember if she had ever encountered the man before. "Lift your heads" said the young man who she presumed to be the CEO. When she raised her head up, she felt a bit dizzy and everything swirled around for a bit and she saw the man's face and then opened her eyes wide as the man turned to look at her, she said "Reuben?" The man looked at her in surprise and said "Kendra?" She couldn't believe her eyes. She felt dizzy again, everything started to spin and then everything went blank.
