I never expected that the daughter of the nanny I sponsored for her education would be having an affair with my "phoenix man" husband, mocking me as a boring old woman while sleeping in my big bed. They caused me to have a miscarriage and are plotting to take my house and swallow my company. I am carefully planning my counterattack, digging one pit after another for this pair of scoundrels, so they can jump in themselves. I want them to understand just how great the consequences of betraying me will be!

Chapter 1 Set A Trap

I never imagined that Charlie Holden would end up in bed with Noreen Andrews, and they were in our bedroom.

Listening to the sounds coming from the voice recorder which I accidentally left on in the bedroom, I was shocked, furious and disgusted.

I wanted to rush home immediately and give that couple of cheaters a good beating, questioning them about why they would betray me so shamefully.

As I drove up to the house, I suddenly hit the brakes, holding back that urge to act impulsively.

I wanted them to understand the heavy price of betraying me.

01

Charlie and I had been married for six years, and life had been relatively harmonious.

I used my parents' inheritance to start a moderately-sized ‌cosmetics company, bringing in a few million dollars annually.

Charlie worked at an advertising agency, where his designs had gained some recognition in the industry.

Charlie hired a live-in housekeeper from his hometown, who named Marie Higgins.

Marie was diligent and kept the house in perfect order, which gave me peace of mind.

Noreen, Marie's daughter, was studying at college in this city and visited her mother at my home frequently.

She was sweet and well-mannered, and I liked her, treating her as a sister like. I often gifted her clothes, bags, and cosmetics, and even wanted to introduce a promising young man to her. Little did I know she would repay my kindness by getting involved with my husband, Charlie. She even had the audacity to ask Charlie who he preferred in bed, her or me. It was so nauseating that I felt like throwing up.

"Honey, I have some good news for you, I'm pregnant!" I said, feigning joy as I handed Charlie a forged seven-week pregnant report which my friend had made for me, adding, "You're going to be a dad!"

"Really?" he asked, Charlie's face lit up with joy as he eagerly took the report, examining it carefully. He grabbed my hand excitedly, saying, "Joyce Holden, you must take good care of yourself and the baby. Let me know if you need anything."

"Honey, there is something I need your help with," I said, pretending to be in a difficult situation.

"Go ahead." Charlie said.

"My company is facing some difficulties in bankroll turnover recently, and I need eight million dollars. I'm thinking of mortgaging our house to borrow the amount, just for a couple of months." I said.

The villa we lived in was in a then-undeveloped suburb when we got married, costing only two million dollars. I had paid an eighty thousand dollars down payment, and Charlie had been paying a fifteen thousand dollars mortgage monthly.

Unexpectedly, in just six years, the area developed rapidly into a central business district, and the villa's value soared to twenty million dollars.

"Our house is worth twenty million dollars now. Isn't mortgaging it for eight million dollars a bit of a loss?" Charlie said hesitantly.

"Alright, if you don't want to, I'll find another way," I said, standing up with a look of resignation. I took a few steps, pretending to stumble and holding my head with one hand and the table with the other.

"Joyce, are you okay?" Charlie asked, and he quickly supported me.

"I'm feeling a bit dizzy, probably due to stress and the pregnancy," I said, touching my stomach with a worried expression. "This baby came at a bad time. Maybe we should wait to have a child?" touching my belly with a worried expression, and added, "This baby came at a bad time. Maybe we should wait to have a child?"

"No way," Charlie said, immediately anxious, "It's just a mortgage. Let's do it!"

I took out the property authorization letter I had prepared and handed it to Charlie for his signature.

Without much thought, he signed it and gave me his ID card.

I took his authorization letter, ID card, and the property deed, and called my friend Bryanna Cooper. We had completed the ‌Agreement of Purchase and Sale, transferring the property to Bryanna's name.

Then, I obtained a contract from her to change the legal representative of my company, setting the stage for my next step in the revenge plan.

02

Returning home, I saw Charlie and Noreen sitting on the sofa and watching TV, while Marie busied herself with housework.

Before, this scene seemed normal to me.

If it weren't for the voice recorder I accidentally left on in the bedroom, I would never have imagined that two of them would end up in bed together, and in my bed, no less!

I noticed a suspicious blush on Noreen's fair face, still flushed from their encounter.

A wave of nausea rose uncontrollably in my throat, and I couldn't help but gag.

"Morning sickness?" Charlie asked with concern.

"Yes," I replied, covering my mouth and sitting on the sofa, looking extremely uncomfortable.

"What morning sickness?" Noreen asked nervously.

"I'm pregnant," I answered, watching Noreen's expression closely.

Noreen's face showed undeniable shock, and she bit her lip in frustration before saying, "Joyce, won't being pregnant affect your career? Didn't you say you wanted to expand your company?"

"How could a pregnancy affect that? However, there is something recently that has impacted my career development." I replied.

"What is it?" Noreen asked.

"A friend of a friend just transferred a small company to me. Although it's small, it has great potential. But recently, due to some special circumstances, I'm burdened with debt and even had to mortgage my house. My credit report is a bit problematic, which affects my ability to become the legal representative of the new company. I'm thinking of finding someone trustworthy with a clean credit record to take on the role temporarily." I put on a troubled expression and said, "I don't know who would be willing to help me as a legal representative for a few months. I can offer a reward of fifty thousand dollars."

"The answer is closer than you think," Charlie chimed in.

I turned to Charlie and shook my head, "You're my husband, so that's not an option."

"I'm not talking about myself; I'm talking about Noreen. It's a crucial position, and it's best to have someone close handle it. Besides, why let the opportunity go to someone else when Noreen can earn the fifty thousand?" Charlie said.

Charlie's suggestion made Noreen's eyes light up. She quickly said to me, "Yes, Joyce, I can do it."

Hmm. How interesting!

I chuckled inwardly at their naivety, and then feigned happiness, saying, "Oh, right! How did I not think of Noreen? She's someone I trust. She can be the legal representative of the new company, and after graduation, she can join as a manager and help me run the company. How about that?"

"Great, thank you, Joyce! I'll definitely help manage the company well," Noreen replied, full of joy and gratitude.

"I happened to bring the contract for transferring the legal representative back with me. Since you're willing, Noreen, let's sign it." I said.

I took the contract out of my bag and transferred fifty thousand dollars to Noreen.

Seeing the money in her account, she signed the contract without even reading it and pressed her fingerprint on it, smiling broadly.

I put away the contract, my smile deepening.

Ha, these two clueless idiots!

03

While the house was empty, I installed several cameras in different places and angles, and then I told them I was going on a business trip for a few days. In fact, I stayed at a friend's house, planning the next steps with her.

On the first night I didn't return home, Charlie and Noreen were already sleeping in my bedroom, and had been captured by multiple angles as undeniable evidence.

Watching them on video, I felt nothing but disgust. I was no longer angry and was just eager to see them lose everything and ruin their reputations.

I saved the video as evidence to ensure Charlie would leave the marriage with nothing.

Over the six years of marriage, aside from the house appreciating in value, I had earned quite a bit, and I was determined not to let any of it be considered marital property to be shared with Charlie, not a penny for him!

This was the price of his betrayal.

I found Noreen's Instagram account and saw her flaunting a designer handbag, even posting the receipt.

The receipt showed the bag cost one hundred and fifty thousand dollars.

I suddenly remembered that a month ago, Charlie borrowed one hundred and fifty thousand dollars from me, claiming it was urgently needed by his parents.

Without questioning, I transferred the money to him.

Little did I know, he used it to buy a designer bag for Noreen.

Borrowing money from the wife to buy gifts for the mistress, what a despicable man!

On her TikTok account, Noreen posted some photos and videos of my villa, my belongings, my wardrobe, my wine cellar, and my luxury car to present herself as a wealthy lady living in a twenty-million-dollar mansion. With her beauty and sweet-sounding, she attracted quite a few followers, becoming an up-and-coming influencer.

I patiently downloaded each of her photos and videos and took screenshots of her profile.

Meanwhile, my friend began setting the trap. Soon, I received a call from Charlie. He said, "Joyce, I heard Bryanna knows Mr. Carter from Orbis Group. Could you ask her to help me arrange a meeting with Mr. Carter?"

"Sure, I'll ask Bryanna and get back to you. How's everything at home while I'm away?" I asked.

"Everything's fine, just missing you." Charlie replied.

Hearing this made me sick.

According to the surveillance, he was spending every night with Noreen in our bed, even sleeping until morning.

"I miss you too,"

I said, though these word made my skin crawl. I suppressed my physical and emotional revulsion, and then hung up.

A few minutes later, I texted Charlie, saying Bryanna was willing to help arrange a meeting with Mr. Carter.

Watching the surveillance video, I saw Charlie joyfully embracing and kissing Noreen.
