Now, the witches want the child dead. And other enemies want to use the child against the Lycan King. But the question is; will Calista learn to love the Lycan King?
WITCH COMMUNITY
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting shadows over the land of Drakonfell, a witch huddled in the dimness of her chamber, her voice quivering with fear and trepidation, as she began to mutter,
"I see... I see the end of our kind... a darkness drawing near, born from the innocent... a Lycan child... wielding power beyond comprehension... our spells, our charms, futile against its fury..."
Her hands shook uncontrollably, the weight of her prophecy heavy upon her.
"The moon will weep blood, and the stars shall fall... the howls of the child shall herald our demise... the end of witches at the hands of the cursed..."
Each word seemed to claw its way out of her throat, as if forced by some unseen power, leaving her visibly shaken and terrified of the impending doom she had foreseen.
"Ahhhh," She lamented, tears falling from her eyes, and her hands rubbing themselves together uncontrollably.
The woman standing before the witch, listened intently, her breaths coming in harsh gasps, her eyes darting anxiously around the room, wary of any potential intruders.
"Okay... okay, Selene, that's enough. That's enough before we get caught..." Suddenly she felt a presence outside, and she glanced fearfully towards the entrance. "Oh no! I'm sorry, Selene, I'm sorry, I have to go!"
With a hurried motion, she darted out of the house through the back door.
As soon as she fled, the front door burst open, revealing a group of guards from the Lycan King, Maximus Regal's patrol, who had been tasked with monitoring the activities of the witches' community.
One of the guards barked, "Hey! What are you doing there, witch?"
Startled, the witch, Selene turned to face them, her heart pounding with alarm. "It's none of your business! Go away!!"
Another guard, observing her actions, intervened, his voice stern. "Hold on, now, lass. Casting magic within the kingdom is strictly prohibited. What are you plotting?"
The witch maintained her defiant demeanor, unyielding in the face of their interrogation. "I won't tell you anything! Just get lost!!!"
Exchanging glances, the guards moved to apprehend the witch, but she fiercely resisted, putting up a determined struggle.
"Unhand me, you brutes!" She yelled.
"We've had enough of your defiance! You're coming with us to see the king!" One of the guards declared, a malicious glint in his eyes.
Despite her resistance, the guards subdued the struggling witch and bound her hands, preparing to escort her to the palace where Maximus Regal awaited her.
THE THRONE ROOM
Maximus Regal, the imposing figure of a man with a sharp jawline, piercing blue eyes, black medium-length hair, and a commanding presence, stood on the pavement of his throne, his black kingly robes billowing around him as the witch was brought before him, her fear palpable.
He saw the struggling woman and addressed her sternly, "What is the meaning of this, witch? Caught casting forbidden magic in my kingdom?"
Selene, visibly shaken, glanced around nervously, feeling trapped. "You are gonna kill me anyway! Just get it over with!"
Maximus furrowed his brows at her, then his eyes narrowed upon recognition and pointed his finger at her. "Aren't you one of those elder witches? The ones they would do anything to protect?"
Selene shook her head, her voice trembling. "What use am I as an elder when I'm powerless to practice magic? I'm just as useless and helpless as the rest of them!"
Maximus nodded thoughtfully, his steps deliberate as he paced back and forth on the pavement. "So, even if I were to eliminate them all, it wouldn't make a difference, correct? Hell, if I were to go as far as demolishing your cemetery, where you draw your mystical energies from the consecrated bodies, it still wouldn't matter, would it?"
Selene shook her head vigorously, her fear evident as she pleaded desperately. "Please, no! They're our ancestors. You can't... You can't destroy us, please! It's unthinkable! You're not even fated to do this! But it would be your fault! They will stop you! Our ancestors won't permit this, you... you bastard!"
Maximus cocked his head slightly, regarding her with curiosity. "Why do I get the sense you're speaking in riddles, witch? I don't understand a damn thing you just said," he remarked, his smile oozing with charm and indifference. "Regardless, I'm more concerned about what you were doing. You're familiar with the laws of my city, my domain, yet you chose to defy them! Whatever you were up to must have been important."
Selene spat on the ground defiantly, her gaze piercing. "You'll have to kill me before I give you any answers!! Just kill me and get it over with, you tyrant!"
Maximus nodded grimly. "Indeed, witches can be remarkably stubborn. You'll meet your end in the presence of your coven. As for preventing your consecration, I'll ensure you're eradicated in the flames of the Bearer of Death, with your fellow witches bearing witness to your demise..."
"No! No, please, spare me from that fate! If you go through with it, we'll... we'll," she hesitated, realizing any plea would likely only play into his hands. "Have mercy, I beg you! I apologize. Please, I'm sorry, it won't happen again!"
Maximus let out a chuckle. "Ah, yes, it won't. I'm gonna make sure of that..." His voice tapered off as the grand doors of his throne room swung open, revealing his second-in-command accompanied by an unfamiliar woman with long, wavy dirty-blonde hair, and piercing green eyes.
His second-in-command, Kael Rossi, tall and striking with his blonde hair, sighed at the sight of the witch being held captive by the guards beside her. "Yet another stubborn witch?"
Maximus's attention was drawn more to the woman beside him, a nagging sense of familiarity tugging at his mind.
"Is that one of your whores? She shouldn't be here." "No, Max, she's actually one of yours," Kael replied, drawing her nearer for Maximus to inspect. "And she's carrying your child."
Before Maximus could process what was happening, Selena immediately shouted, "No! Not now! It's beginning! It's already beginning!" She started murmuring to herself, drawing everyone's attention to her actions.
"What's she doing?" Kael inquired, his brow furrowed in confusion.
In an instant, the woman next to him gasped sharply, her hands instinctively flying to her stomach.
Her complexion turned red, her features twisted in agony, and she doubled over as the pain surged.
"Ahh," she groaned, her breaths labored. "What's going on?!" She cried out, sinking to her knees. Concern etched across his face, Kael exclaimed urgently, "What the heck? That witch is causing her harm, Max! You need do something!"
Maximus just sat there, his brows furrowed in confusion, yet his demeanor remained stoic and commanding as he stared at the guards.
"Must I remind you of the standard procedure in dealing with witchcraft before your very eyes?" he questioned, his voice carrying a subtle edge of authority.
The guards, startled by their lord's stern question, exchanged nervous glances as a palpable sense of nervousness permeated the air.
Without hesitation, one of them, driven by fear, swiftly intervened. With a forceful blow, he rendered Selene unconscious.
The woman let out a gasp, finding herself experiencing a sense of relief, albeit tinged with lingering discomfort, her breaths coming in ragged bursts as she struggled to compose herself while clutching her stomach.
In a sudden and chilling turn of events, Maximus was already in front of the guards, his presence looming ominously as he reached into their chests and mercilessly tore out their still-beating hearts. The guards, now lifeless, crumpled to the ground, their hearts clenched tightly in Maximus's bloodied grasp.
Staring at the aftermath with an air of indifference, Maximus was soon attended to by one of the guards stationed around, who hurriedly offered him a towel to cleanse his hands of the red stains. He cleaned his hands, and disposed the towel on the ground with a dismissive gesture, before going back to sit on his throne, his demeanor regal and unwavering as he issued his command with chilling authority.
"Guards, take the witch away, and prepare the bearer of death for her execution at dawn tomorrow. Venue: the witches' community."
'Am I dreaming?' Zak Vance wondered. The woman standing before him was the spitting image of his late wife-same eyes, same face. It was as if she had walked straight out of his memories and into his office. "What the hell?" he muttered under his breath, unable to understand what he was seeing. He stood up abruptly, his chair scraping against the floor, his eyes never leaving her. "You're Amy May?" he asked, his voice tinged with shock. Amy nodded, offering a polite smile. "Yes, Sir." Zak's eyes continued to scrutinize her. He was struggling to wrap his mind around the situation. How could this woman, this complete stranger, look so identical to his wife?
