Christine was so excited to go to her boyfriend's place. After all, it was a Saturday and she didn't have to work. She lived with her best friend Jeanette, who worked as a salesgirl in a shopping mall. Christine, on the other hand, ran a small flower shop. She stood in front of the mirror, trying to make herself look beautiful for Duncan, her boyfriend. They had been dating for five months, which had been the best months of her life. She loved him so much and wasn't ready to lose him.
She had experienced several broken relationships in the past, but she felt like she had finally found the right man. As she sat down in front of her dressing mirror to apply her makeup, she heard her name being cal it upled by Jeanette.
"Christine!" her crazy best friend screamed. "I finally got passes to Barricade Club, and I got one for you too!" she exclaimed excitedly.
"I'm not interested," Christine replied.
"But why? Let's just go tonight, please," Jeanette begged.
"I said I'm not interested. Besides, I want to surprise Duncan. I'm going to get a gift for him and head to his house. I'm very sure he won't be expecting me," Christine said excitedly.
"I promise I won't try to hook you up with any guy. I'll just have my fun alone and leave you to have a few drinks. Can you please do this for me?" Jeanette asked, begging seriously.
"I already told you, I'm not interested. I have a boyfriend, and you want me to go to clubs? What do you think he would think of me? I'm not ready to disappoint anyone close to me, so please just let me be, Jeanette. Also, I have somewhere very important to go. If you would excuse me," Christine said with a stern face.
"You are so obsessed with this boyfriend of yours, and I don't like him. You even pay some of his bills, and now you want to get him another gift. How many gifts has he gotten you?" Jeanette asked.
"Well, I don't care as long as we love each other. That's all that matters," Christine replied, applying her makeup. "I'm off," she said, determined.
"She never listens. She uses all her hard-earned money on that stupid guy. I hope she doesn't regret it," Jeanette muttered silently.
Christine went to a nearby mall to get male perfume for her boyfriend and headed straight to his house. As she approached the door, she realized it was open. She entered cautiously, trying not to alert Duncan. She wondered why the door wasn't locked. She went straight to his bedroom, opened the door, and saw the shock of her life.
The perfume slipped from her hand and broke as she saw her boyfriend cheating on her. She wanted to leave, but her legs refused to move. The shock she felt was evident.
"Duncan!" the woman yelled and pointed at Christine, who moved towards them with a murderous look on her face.
It was then that Duncan looked back, his face turning white as he quickly sprang away from his newfound candy.
"Hey, back off!" he yelled.
Christine stopped in her tracks, her heartbeat roaring in her ears as she stared at the man she had trusted. "Back off?" she said with an angry look on her face. "Fuck, no. Continue, will you? I was enjoying the show."
Duncan chuckled dryly, his brown eyes filled with jeer and mockery. "There's no need to swallow all that hurt, Christine. Look, what we had was just a bet. My friends didn't think I could sleep with a woman like you, and I did. Now I'm fifty grand richer, but you're as boring as hell."
He was cut off by a slap on his face. Christine watched with sickening satisfaction as pain flared up on his face when she slapped him on his cheek.
Duncan doubled over, howling like a dog in birth pains.
"My face!"
His whore, the woman he cheated on Christine with, ran to his side, and Christine laughed dryly, fighting back the tears that threatened to spill. She would not shed tears over an idiot and gold digger like him. Never.
"You two suit each other," she taunted. "A dog and his bitch. I'm so fucking glad that I'm out of this hellhole. He's all yours."
And with her words hanging in the air, she sauntered out of the house. Still fighting off the tears, she called the one person she knew would give her comfort: Jeanette.
She banged the door open, entered the house, and collapsed on the couch.
"So," Jeanette said from behind.
"I'm so sorry I didn't listen to you. He's a jerk. I hate him," Christine rushed out all her words at once and started crying.
"Jeanette! I'm finally fucking free. How is the club offer?" she asked immediately.
"Wow, that's the spirit, babe. Dance all your sorrows away," Jeanette said excitedly.
Jeanette Lannister walked through the throng of dancing people in the club, keeping an eye on her best friend who was screaming like a banshee and gyrating to the loud music. Christine was as drunk as hell.
Christine, shit-faced and drunk as hell, tried to navigate her way back to the counter stool. She had grown tired of dancing and needed to sit, or she would puke her guts out. However, when she got to the stool she had sat on when she arrived, there was someone else on it.
And good Lord, he was fucking gorgeous.
Her breath caught as she took him in. His black, thick strands of hair were neatly arranged on his head, with a few strands almost falling over his face. And his face... Damn, he was a work of art. His face was chiseled, and his beautiful grey eyes stared at her broodingly in a way that made her panties moisten with desire. He was dressed casually in a plain blue tee and black pants. And yet, he was easily the most stunning man she had ever seen.
"Has...," she slurred, reaching out to brush his hair, "has anyone ever told you that you look so fucking edible and hot, sir?"
