Don't stop!" I cry out as his lips leave mine. He makes his way down, kissing between my thighs and raising the heat in my center. For a moment I forget why I'm here, what my mission is. I just want to be in the moment with him. "Mine," he growls out, his hot breath fanning my entrance before he finally latches his tongue onto me. I don't think I would have ever dreamed of belonging somewhere, much less to a werewolf pack. But I guess life really is full of surprises. Tyron is the alpha of the Crescent pack and Nyra is a fox that was sent to steal from him, not just anything but the most precious thing to his pack. The moonstone, which is a magical artifact said to be a possession of the goddess of nature herself. Destiny plays it's games and has their fates intertwined when Tyron discovers that Nyra is his mate. He would do anything to protect her and she would do anything to get that moonstone. Deception, lies, secrets and guards are held up while feelings are based. Is it really true that you can love a person you don't trust? Or is love indeed blind?
NYRA'S POV
"I sucked his dick," I shrug.
The entire council shifts uncomfortably in their seats, casting each other side glances.
Ekon clears his throat, " This isn't a good time for one of your jokes, Vixen."
"I already told you that I can't disclose my means. You asked me to get you the sword and I got it," I sigh, tired and bored of this conversation.
They really think I'm stupid enough to give them that information. The last time I stood in front of a council like this, I was being thrown out of my family, so I guess you can understand why being here is making me Queasy. I didn't want to do this job, I hate being involved with the council, but it was for a good course and someone called in a favor.
"As you wish," Ekon says, nodding to the middle-aged dwarf that stood at his side. The little man walks over to me and I have to ignore the intrusive thoughts that keep flooding my head until he gets to me and hands me the envelope.
I get on one knee so I can look him in the eye as I take the envelope from him. His brown hair looks bushy and unkept, but his beards are impeccably trimmed to perfection.
Strange.
His brown orbs pierce my gray ones, it's obvious that he doesn't trust me but I really don't care. I take the money from him and he scoffs before retreating.
Oh how fulfilling it would be to kick his ass, and I mean that literally.
"It was nice doing business with you," I grin widely, looking into the envelope and confirming the payment. "I hope never to see you again."
With one last look at Ekon, I turn on my heel and walk out of the hall.
Ekon is a smart man, I know that because I almost believed that he wasn't, but I guess being paranoid has saved me more times than it has caused me harm. He's good, but not good enough to outfox me.
The fox species are a dreaded species, partly because of their wit and smart mouths but mostly because we are cunning and smart. It takes one fox to outsmart another, and the trust of the fox council is something I would never want...or need.
I walk towards my car, a green Range Rover Evoque that I got 3 years ago with the first big job I ever did.
My life hasn't exactly been an easy one, I haven't had luck on my side so I've had to earn everything I have- It's been a tragedy.
As a fox born into a wolf family due to the infidelity of my mother, I haven't had the privilege of calling anywhere home, I'm an abomination to the wolves and an outcast to the foxes, thus I've had to survive alone. Especially after my mother decided it was a good idea to run off with her lover and leave me in the wolf's den. It was thanks to my aunt Ashira that I wasn't killed.
I get into my car and turn on the engine, driving out of the woods and into the main town. The humans and the creatures of the wild lived in seemingly different worlds, and only the founding families of the humans know anything about the existence of the other creatures. Being a creature without a home, I juggle between the two every now and again. Today I'm going to my apartment in Silverlake, Chicago.
It's been roughly a month since I went there, majorly because I've been hunting down that sword that the fox council wanted. Emerging from the woods and into the city is refreshing, it's like shedding a skin and leaving it behind.
In the woods and in the world of the creatures, I'm the dark Kitsune, popularly known for my reputation as The Vixen. A name uttered with fear and respect.
But out here, I'm just Nyra Fox, a basic girl with a shitty past who works at a nightclub.
My apartment looks the same as I left it, luxurious for a girl who works at a nightclub but nothing too much. I don't need to drag so much attention to myself. Fatigue gets the best of me as I walk into my bedroom. It's been ages since I got decent sleep, I don't get the luxury of feeling safe enough to sleep in the woods, not like I get it here but at least out in the human world, there's nothing I can't handle.
As soon as my body hits the soft mattress, I get swept into the land of unconsciousness.

My hands hang above my head, chained to the ceiling. My feet are barely touching the ground, my head is hurting, my hair is matted with sweat and blood. There's a small window up above that serves as the only source of light. The air is humid, making it hard to breathe. My eyes flutter but I can't keep them open for long.
I purse my lips and sigh, "this is not how I wanted to wake up," I murmur.
The sound of heavy metal being lifted forced me to shriek, too tired to look up, I only see a pair of feet in brown shoes walk into the dungeon. It's a man.
"Hello fox," the thick voice says.
I can't see his face but I can feel his glare on me.
I don't say a word, I keep my breathing even and my body relaxed.
"Wake the fuck up cunt!" the toe of his boot digs into my side with force, forcing my eyes to come open.
"That is no way to treat a lady," I cough up blood and spit at his feet.
I can see his face, but I can't recognize him, I've never seen him before. Maybe he was sent by one of my many enemies. But he's human, I can smell it.
"This isn't a place for an attitude fox! You better get that into your thick skull!"
It's obvious he's desperate to show that he wields the power here, but his desperation only shows that he's aware that he is the weaker one. He stands no chance with me all things equal.
"You sound so pathetic, I feel sorry for you," I groan.
He grabs my face, "I don't think you fully understand your situation fox!"
I can easily latch my teeth to his internal jugular veins and watch him bleed out on the floors but I'm too weak to fight off the rest of them, I have to be patient.
"Oh yeah? Please give me a comprehensive analysis," I reply with a straight face.
He let go of my face with unnecessary force.
"You die at sunset."
***
I open my eyes, breathing unevenly but not panicking. It's nothing I'm not used to by now. Flashback of horrific moments in my life that come disguised as dreams. I sigh, getting out of bed and heading into the shower. I've been through a lot of shit in the last month, I think I should find some sort of distraction.
I get ready and head to the club, not as a worker, but as a woman who wants to get fucked up tonight. The city is quiet and beautiful, but I feel a bit uneasy, like something is coming but I'm not sure what.
It could be my instincts or just my usual paranoia that always makes me believe that something is bound to go terribly wrong at every point in time.
Whichever it is, I'll be ready.
I can hear the music as I park my car in the parking lot.
"Does the sexy lady have a name?" Some guy I don't bother to look at asks, followed by cat-calls.
I'm used to cat-calls, the only creatures that come close to foxes in beauty are creatures of the water, but they do not possess our grace or brain.
My white hair is held up with a clip, leaving loose strands to frame my face, my lips are endowed with red lipstick, bold and tempting. My outfit doesn't leave much to the imagination, the silver dress hangs low at my back and I know a couple of people would fall on their faces trying to get a look at more. The front of the dress has a deep V showing enough cleavage but that's it. It stops just below my ass and I'm not one of those girls to feel uncomfortable and start pulling it down- no, I know exactly what it looks like and that's why I fucking wore it. But I'm in no mood to talk to drunk idiots tonight so I do him a favor and make my way into the club quietly. Tonight I'm looking for someone a bit tougher than these idiots slurring after me. Everyone is boring these days. Oh what I would do for a little hard to get game.
I slide into a seat at the bar, "A cocktail please," I say to Mitch.
He's the new bartender and he is a fine piece of work, but I don't think he's going to match my crazy, and from the few conversations we've had, he's no fun to play with.
If I were to get involved with him, I'd eat him alive.
"Coming right up!" He replies.
He gets to work making the drinks and I look around, there's barely any new faces, just the same old degenerates that show up every night. There's soft soul music playing in the background.
Ugh! I'm bored.
Mitch slides the drink over to me and I thank him with my eyes that suggest more things than one, not because I have any intentions, but it's just fun to watch him crumble over and over again- feeds my ego.
I sip my drink and sigh, trying to ignore the feeling of loneliness that tries to show its head every now and again. I'm used to nights like this, but sometimes I find a fun idiot to mess with and I feel much better. But the games are getting old and men are the same set of idiots with different faces.
"Nyra," Mitch calls and I snap out of my thoughts and look up at him with a small smile.
"Someone asked to give you this," he says, sliding another glass of drink towards me. It's red wine, with an envelope underneath.
"Who did?" I ask, my paranoid mind assuming the worst.
"He left," Mitch shrugs.
I look at the drink and click my tongue, pulling out the envelope from underneath the drink, I push the drink away.
I don't think anyone is stupid enough to do anything stupid in a place this crowded, and definitely not with humans around.
I open the envelope, there's a ton of money in it, a couple thousand dollars give or take, and there's a white paper, well folded but it's hard to miss.
I pull it out, taking another sip of my drink before opening it.
It's content reads;
Dear vixen,
I have come to you with a heavy heart
I have heard of your services offered at a cost, please hear my plea.
I found my daughter's body floating by the river, she had been missing for days.
Her body was beaten and injured, showing that she was tortured, killed and left to rot.
She was a lovely girl with the most beautiful smile. I have caught and killed the culprit but I feel no better. I have her body with me, I have been told that she can be brought back with the use of powerful magic and the moonstone dwelling with the alpha of the Crescent pack. I beg you, save my daughter- she's all I have.
_A sorrowful father, Alpha of the Moonclaw pack.
My heart instantly stops, the alpha of the Moonclaw pack only has one daughter - and that's my sister, Avery.
