Chapter 1 The Outcast's Call

Rowena felt the cool night air against her skin, the distant howling of wolves piercing through the trees. She stood alone on the edge of the Silver Forest, her heart pounding as she peered into the dark expanse ahead. Tonight was unlike any other. The full moon loomed high, casting its eerie light through the dense canopy of trees. Her transformation was near, and it filled her with dread. She could already feel the stirrings within her-her wolf fighting to break free.

Her breath quickened as her eyes flicked from the moon to the path that stretched before her. She was an outcast, a wolf with no pack, no home. She had been cast aside after her family's brutal deaths-left with nothing but the remnants of her broken past. The weight of loneliness crushed her soul, but she had learned to survive. She had no other choice.

Rowena had always been weak, submissive, easy to forget. But deep down, she knew there was more to her. There had to be. For years, she had hidden behind the walls of fear and shame, but tonight, she would no longer be the meek wolf. She could feel the power growing within her, a raw force threatening to explode from deep inside.

She closed her eyes, allowing herself a moment to embrace the shift that was soon to come. Her body trembled as the first wave of transformation hit her, the aching pressure of her bones shifting under her skin, her senses sharpening, her claws lengthening. It was the night of the full moon, and like all werewolves, she would change. The urge to howl rose in her chest, but she forced it down. No one would hear her cry tonight. No one cared. She was alone.

As the last of her shift completed, Rowena stood in the clearing as a fully transformed wolf. Her fur was a sleek midnight black, her eyes glowing with a fierce, untamed light. For a moment, she stood there, breathing heavily, relishing in the power coursing through her veins. This was who she was meant to be-a predator in the wild, a force to be reckoned with.

But her moment of solitude was broken by the sudden snap of twigs behind her. Her head snapped around, her sharp senses alert. She was not alone.

A figure emerged from the shadows, moving with an eerie, calculated grace. Her heart skipped a beat as she recognized the aura of another werewolf, a strong presence. The man who approached was tall and broad-shouldered, his posture rigid with authority. The scent of his wolf-sharp, commanding, and unmistakably Alpha-sent a rush of conflicting emotions through her.

Rowena's wolf instincts screamed at her to submit, to bow before him, but she resisted. She would not let herself be dominated again. She would not be his pawn.

The stranger's gaze locked onto hers, his eyes glowing with an intensity that sent shivers down her spine. She could see the curiosity in his expression, but there was something else-something dangerous in the way he studied her.

"Who are you?" His voice was low, rough, like gravel scraping against stone.

Rowena stood her ground, her hackles raised. "I don't owe you any answers," she growled, her voice coming out as a low snarl. She was no longer the submissive wolf she once was. She wouldn't let anyone take control of her again.

The Alpha's lips curled into a slight, mocking smile, and he took a step forward, the weight of his presence pressing down on her. "You're a long way from home, little wolf," he said, his voice laced with a challenge.

She didn't flinch. "I don't have a home. I don't belong anywhere." Her words were sharp, filled with the pain of her past. But beneath it, there was a fire-a flicker of the power she was beginning to unlock.

The Alpha's gaze softened for just a moment before it hardened once again. "That's about to change," he said, his tone colder now. "You're coming with me."

Before Rowena could react, he moved with lightning speed, closing the distance between them in an instant. His hand gripped her by the scruff of her neck, the Alpha's dominance suffocating. Rowena's heart pounded in her chest, but she did not resist. She was not weak anymore. She was powerful, and she would find a way to break free.

But as the Alpha pulled her toward the woods, Rowena's thoughts raced. Who was he? And why did his presence stir something inside her, something that made her pulse quicken and her wolf grow restless? This was not the first time she'd encountered an Alpha, but there was something different about him. His touch burned against her skin, and it was not from force. It was something deeper, something primal.

There was a pull between them, one that she could not deny, no matter how much she wanted to.

Her heart beat faster. What had she just stepped into?

The full moon bathed the forest in its light, but this moment was far darker than the night itself. And she was about to find out just how much darker it would become.
