Lawrence Knights was forced to take the hardest decision of killing his baby, canceling his marriage and breaking off his relationship with his lover and mate Camilla just to protect her after the pack elders that threatened to kill her if he didn't accept their choice of Luna. After meeting Camilla who served him as his personal doctor in the hospital when he had an accident, he decided to mend things with her, and also choose to live up to his responsibility of Protecting his family when he found out Camilla never killed their baby as he had asked. He helped save Camilla from Raymond, her fiance from abroad who was a con artist. He also protected his family from his pack members and saves his son, George who was diagnosed with leukemia by donating his bone marrow. Camilla Wilmer was brutally rejected by her mate, Lawrence who asked her to abort their baby and relocate abroad. She begged the doctor that was to carry out the abortion to spare the baby's life, promising to keep the baby a secret and never allow Lawrence know about his/her existence. After returning back to California, she decided to keep her babies a secret from Lawrence who she thought would harm them since he never wanted them. She saved Lawrence's life, accepted Lawrence back, and also saved her son George when he nearly died while undergoing the bone marrow transplant.
"I, Lawrence Knight, reject you, Camila Wilmer, as my mate." He threw the words at me, and immediately, I felt pain in my chest. Like my heart had been broken into pieces.
I placed my hand on my chest, like if I hadn't done that, I'd be bleeding by now.
Lawrence rejected me?
After all we've been through together, after everything we've shared as mates, I was thinking I've finally found the man for my heart.
"And that bastard in your womb, I need you to abort it. I can't accept to be the father of that thing." He cursed without remorse.
"You can't do this. This child is just a kid who knows nothing about us, we can't just kill him because you don't accept me as your mate anymore. He deserves to live."
"No, he doesn't, and that's a thousand reasons why you have to take it off!" He growled, and I looked away from his gaze.
"You can't be too heartless to an unborn child. You hate me, and I accept your rejection, but–"
He didn't even let me finish my words, he cut in. "No buts, you are removing that child immediately. I don't want it growing with the belief that I ever brought him to the world."
"Lawrence..."
"Guards!"
"No, Lawrence, you can't do this to an innocent child. I beg you, I'll leave but let the child be."
"Guards!" He was paying deaf ears to me, acting like I wasn't even saying a thing to him.
As the guards marched in, he ordered them to take me to the doctor's quarter. "Don't let her leave until that thing is out of her."
"Yes, sir."
"Please. Please, I beg you, don't do this to me. Don't do this to us. Lawrence, please." I cried as they dragged me to the doctor's quarter.
I felt my heart beating hard against my chest, I have never undergone an abortion before, and I've heard a lot of news about ladies who do things like this. They mostly don't survive the act.
I was staring at the doctor with tears in my eyes, hoping he'd reconsider and spare my child's life.
"How may I help you?" He asked the guards after giving me a long glance, probably studying if I had an issue with my body.
"The alpha king instructed that you should abort the child she carries in her womb. He wants that done immediately." One of them said,
The doctor looked at me again, "Are you pregnant?"
I couldn't say a word, I couldn't even blink, my eyes held tears. I don't know how to defend myself, to beg him to let me go with the angry guards who are ready to stay and carry out their tasks.
As if he had understood my situation, he asked the guards to leave.
"I'm sorry, doctor, we can't leave. The alpha king wants us to witness the operation."
"Well, this is my office, I give the orders now. But...if you want to express your loyalty to the alpha king, then I assume you two are ready to help out with the operation." He gave them a questioning look,
"Fine, we'll wait outside."
"Better."
His gaze didn't leave them until he was sure they were out of the room before he went to lock the door. Then he returned his gaze to me, "Are you ready for this..."
"Please, I don't want to do this." I pleaded.
"But this is an order from the king himself."
"I accept the fact that he hates me and doesn't want anything to do with me, but for the love of the moon goddess, don't take my child's life."
He sighed with difficulty. I understand how it feels to disobey the king's order and work contradictory to his words, but...this is an innocent life we are talking about.
And it can't be now, not when I'm already accepting the through nature of motherhood.
"I beg you, just do me this one favor. We'll fake this operation and I'll leave this pack for good. Just this one favor."
I was going to kneel for him to see how desperate I was to keep the child, but he held me halfway, "You don't have to, Miss. I understand how passionate you are for your child, and I'll help you keep it. Only if you promise me something."
I was ready to do whatever he asked me to do, as long as it resulted in the safety of both the child and myself.
"I'll do anything, doctor. I promise."
"As soon as you leave this pack, never return. Never." He warned.
"I promise." And I wasn't even thinking of facing Lawrence again. No, I'm not coming back here for any reason.
Whatever ties I have with Lawrence or the pack, ends right here. "I promise."
"So now, I want you to do me a favor. You'll have to scream when I ask you to, we need to convince the guards that something is going on in here." I nodded my head in agreement. "Get on the bed, let's start the surgery."
I felt my heart relax, and a sigh of relief washed over me as I began to feel life rush through my lungs, filling me, and giving me hope of survival.
I never knew the doctor would understand my situation, and help me find freedom when I needed it the most.
I appreciated Lawrence rejecting me. If only he knew what he'd done for me, he wouldn't have thought his rejection would seem like a failure to me.
After the doctor had arranged everything he needed to carry out the abortion, he walked up to me. Meanwhile, he had filled a basin with a reddish substance, faking it to be my blood.
I don't know how he did that, but I didn't care to ask.
He gave me a look of readiness. "Are you ready for this?"
"Yes, I am," I said, taking a deep breath.
"Now, I want you to scream." He said, which I did.
Then he injected me with a substance that ran hot through my veins, making my eyes widen in fear.
"Was he actually carrying out the abortion? Did he deceive me?" I panicked, my soul, leaving my body as I started feeling dizzy and passed out.
"You're cursed, and I'll forever regret the fact that I didn't feed you to wild boars the day you were born. The goddess alone knows what heinous offence you must have committed in your past life to be so cursed in your present one." My mother heaped abuses on me from her perch on the seettte with my younger sister. " Please mother." I begged from where I was kneeling on the floor in front of the seettte. " Don't you dare call me mother." She shreiked getting to her feet to hit me across the face before falling back into her seat, panting deeply. Cradling my face in my hands, I let my tears fall. Wouldn't it be better to leave this world and of this pain behind? I wondered.
