When Nami Kotsumi, a high school student finds out that their student council president, Tsubaru Kaizuki is secretly a super hot bad boy in the disguise of the geeky nerd of a student, her life is turned upside down. The story follows the development of their relashionship and the life Nami leads after finding out this shocking secret.
I was standing at the rooftop of Atsukoji High school thinking about suicide, not mine, other people's. Frankly, I didn't think life could get that hard. People just exaggerate their pain.
'Nami, what're you doing here so late in the evening?'
My sister's voice was a high pitched chirp that broke through the comfort of my silence.
'Just thinking.' I turned to look at her. She was holding her bag against her chest and the wind was blowing her short hazel hair into her face leaving a slither of her emerald eyes to be seen.
'If you want to go home, you can go on without me.' I waved her off. 'You should come home soon.' She turned and faced the door then added, "You could get locked up here if you stay here.' Then left.
After a while, I realised it was already dark and thought I should go home. I walked to the door and turned the knob - it was locked. It was in that moment that I remembered what my sister had said before she left. I sighed then turned back to lay on the patio chair. I figured I would scroll through Instagram till daybreak so the door being locked didn't really bother me. What bothered me was the fact that I'd left my fourteen year old little sister alone in the house. But... Nana was a strong girl. She was probably sleeping by then so I decided to do what I'd originally planned and scroll till morning. It was a while later when I noticed it was just midnight. Time sure was moving slow.
Suddenly, the door opened. I didn't move a muscle.
'What are you doing here so late?'
I could tell by the huskynes of the vioce that this person was male. He walked till he was right behind me.
'Just thinking.' I said then sat up, still not looking at him - my gaze was fixed to my phone. He came right infront of me.
'You're lying'
'You think so?' I looked up and... Jesus Christ!!! Who in heaven was I looking at!! Angel Michael?!?! White hair, blue eyes that looked like they were reflecting light. He was wearing an oversize tang top that revealed the tattoo on his right arm. And his hair was held up revealing three earings on his right and one on his left ear.
'Who.... Who are you?' I asked in a dazed state.
'Oh, don't recognize me do you?' He smiled then let his long white hair down and picked specs from the pocket of his sweatpants that were a size too big for him. He put them on.
'Is this a more familiar look?' He asked.
'Oh shit - no way. President Kaizuki?!?!'
'In the flesh.' He took the glasses off. I - was - dumbfounded. There was no way they were the same person. Student council president Tsubaru Kaizuki and this god of hotness couldn't be the same person even if they wanted to - or so I thought. President Kaizuki was this geeky nerd who barely ever spoke and... And well, this just wasn't him.
'So, what are you doing here president.' I asked calmly. I didn't want to give off the vibe that I was super impressed so I played it cool. He simply chuckled and went up to the edge of the rooftop. Now the rooftop of Atsukoji had no balcony whatsoever it was a perfect right angle and his feet were half way over the edge. You would never find me standing there. Anyways since the door was now open and I was still tryna keep up my 'I'm not that impressed.' act, I left. I was planning on sleeping till the next afternoon since it was a weekend.
When I got home, ofcourse the door was locked and I had to knock for hours before Nana opened up.
'Welcome hoe amiimmmm.....' She yawned then staggered bag to her room. I went to my room too. I fell on the bed like a sack of potatoes and it didn't take too long for me to fall asleep.
The next morning,"Nami! Nami! Na- Na- Na- Na- Na- Nami!' Nana shouted at the top of her voice.
'Whaaaaaat.....? It's still too early for your noise...' I covered my head with the pillow.
'Someone's here to see you, oh and it's almost midday so it's not too early.'
'Who is it?'
'Don't know.'
'Describe.'
'White hair, blue eyes, a tattoo on right arm-'
'Shut up! No way!' I jumped out of bed.
'Are you sire that's who you saw.'
'Who is he, your boyfriend?'
I rolled my eyes and changed into a short white summer dress That deeply contrasted with my raven black hair and my warm fuzzy black house slippers. I washed my face, wiped it and stared at myself in the mirror. Why was he at my door?? I swear I was not ready for this kind of drama in my life. I tried to look as calm as possible and went downstairs to open the door. He was looking the other way and when he turned, my plan to look calm went down the drain. This guy was unrealistic. He looked ai generated I swear. His eyes looked like a literal diamond held up at the sun. I could feel my face getting hotter by the second. I just knew my face looked like a tomato.
"'re you alright Nami? You look kinda red. Do you have a fever?' He asked.
'No, not at all. I'm perfectly fine. So what did you need?'
'Nothing much, just wanted to know what you were really doing at the rooftop yesterday. You didn't give me much of an answer.'
'Why do you want to know anyways?' I asked then realised after that I'd never told President Kaizuki Where I live.
'Holl up, how'd you even know where I live?'
'I'm the student council president. That information is pretty much basic.'
'I doubt, but let's leave it at that. For now anyways.'
'So why were you on the rooftop yesterday?'
'As I said, I was thinking.'
'Thinking about what?'
'That's non of your business!'
'Right. Well I'm leaving for now.' He turned to leave.
'Oh no you don't, I've still got lots of questions for you. 'I grabbed his shirt. 'You can come in and have a seat.'
'Thanks.'
We went in at sat at the table in our living room.
'Breakfast is served!' Nana glided around the table with two trays and set them on it. Then rushed back to the kitchen.
"Aren't you gonna eat Nana?' I asked.
" I had my breakfast earlier. That being said, no lunch for you."
"Okay."
"Did she mean that?" Tsubaru asked. He was buttering a piece of bread.
"Nah. Even if she did mean it, I'd just make lunch myself."
"Can I stay for lunch too?"
"Nothing better to do than staying here? It's pretty boring."
"I don't mind. My day was going to be boring anyway. So, what did you want to ask?"
"What do you mean 'what' ?! Why do you look like that?"
"Do I look bad?"
"Not that, I want to know why you look different from when you're at school."
"There's way too !any people at school. Too much attention is uncomfortable. Also, I let my hair down to hide these." He pointed at his earrings. "I'm always in the winter uniform coz of this..." He pointed at his tattoo. "And the bangs are to cover my eyes." He covered his eyes.
"Why would you hide your eyes? They're so pretty." Nana walked in and sat right next to me.
"That's the point. They're pretty and I don't want to draw too much attention to myself."
"Don't you get attention outside school too?" I asked
"I do. But not as much as I'd get at school. People outside have way too many problems to even look at me for that long. They probably just glance my way and then move on with life." He was playing with a spoon in his coffee. While he spoke, I noticed he had only taken a bite out of his sandwich and his cup of coffee was still full.
"If you're not gonna eat that much then I'll take it." I Pointed at his almost untouched breakfast. I was already done with mine.
"You can have the sandwich bit the coffee..." He pushed the plate towards me and pulled the cup closer to himself. I took it gladly.
"Who knew our student council president had a sweet tooth?" I said as I watched him add half a cup of sugar and six cubes of sugar to his coffee. Six cubes.
"No one really." He sippedhis coffee milk and had a smile of satisfaction on his face. "Now that I think about it, people at school don't know anything about me." He added. I nodded as I ate my sandwich in four huge bites. I almost choked and took half of Tsubaru's coffee, he snached it from me and took the rest. It all happened so fast that we all just burst into laughter. Then, Tsubaru's phone rang. I couldn't hear what the person on the other side was saying but they sure sounded angry. Tsubaru listened to them with a smile. "'Kay. I'll be there ina sec." He said then ended the call, cutting the other person's yelling short.
"Guess I need to go." He pushed his phone into his back pocket.
"Who was that? They sounded angry." I asked.
"My dad." He answered.
"What did you do?"
"Burst the windshield of his car last night."
"Why would you do that!!??"
"Uhh... To make him mad? I guess." He scratched his head.
"You're crazy!!"
"I hear that alot."
"Y- Wha- You're such an Idiot."
"Always have been. Anyways, I'll get going now." He walked out leaving me both annoyed and confused.
"I'm going for a walk." I told Nana.
"You're gonna follow him?" Nana asked. She was soannoying sometimes.
"I said, I'm going for a walk." I answered firmly.
"What about lunch?"
"Make some for yourself. I'm eating out."
"Okay, come back home soon."
I left. I walked to the park and sat on the white wooden seat. I sat there for a while staring at the children playing there. And I felt a little bit nostalgic. My mamory was rewinded to the time when we'd just arrived in Tokyo...
