Chapter 1 Sofia's Point Of View

The heavy steel door creaked open, and for the first time in two years, I stepped out of the building. The prison guards, with their faces a mix of indifference, barely glanced her way as I walked past. I took a deep breath, the cool air filling my lungs as I finally felt the breeze after spending time behind bars.

"Feels good," I muttered.

Taking a last glance at the prison wall, I gave a faint smile that disappeared immediately. My mind wandered back to the memories I made in prison, my heart tilted in pain as I left it behind.

However, it's time for revenge!

I adjusted my worn-out jacket, a relic of my past life, and squinted against the brightness. The sun hung low in the sky, painting the world in hues of gold and orange, but all I could feel was an overwhelming rush of emotions.

As I walked slowly, each step was filled with pain and anger. Today marked their anniversary, the day that made me lose everything. The day my parents died and how I was left helpless in prison.

The person I called my only sister was behind my calamity, and it would be of no good if I let the matter slide.

"Please, is there any bar around here?" I asked after walking a far distance from the prison. Everyone knows well that each prisoner would be advised a day before their release, and the compulsory thing is to become a better person once they get out.

However, I'm not ready to follow the advice. I need some alcohol to calm down my brain.

"There is one popular bar nearby. Just take two right turns, and you will see Sunny Bar," the middle-aged lady responded.

I bowed slightly and said. "Thanks so much."

I followed the directions and ended up in front of the bar. With a deep breath, I shut my eyes for a while and opened them back. As I entered a dim bar, the warm glow of neon lights enveloped me like a comforting embrace, but her life wasn't comforting.

I ordered a drink, then another, until the world around me lost its sharp edges. Laughter and music faded into a distant hum, and for a moment, she could almost forget the weight of her past.

As the hours slipped away, the liquor fueled my anger. The thought of Jane's betrayal flashed in her memory, igniting the flames of revenge. With each sip, I became angrier, more reckless, until my thoughts morphed into a singular focus: destruction.

That's when I spotted the sleek black car parked on the street. The latest BMW was a symbol of everything she detested: wealth, power, and the life I had been denied. I lost trust, my loved one because of wealth!

Without a second thought, I staggered outside and raised my foot to kick at the side mirror, the satisfying crunch of glass shattering.

"Go away!! Die!!!!" I screamed out in pain and tears as she continued damaging the car.

Just then, a strong grip seized my arm, spinning me around to face the cold, piercing eyes of him. His presence was like a storm showcasing the Mafia aura around me. I could feel the chill radiating from him, a stark reminder of the danger he represented.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?" he demanded, his voice low and menacing, sending a shiver down my spine.

I opened my mouth to respond, but the alcohol had other plans. The world around me spun violently as nausea washed over me. Before I could step back, I was retching, the contents of my stomach splattering against his expensive suit. After emptying myself, I smiled like a fool.

Luca's expression shifted from shock to fury, his jaw tightening as he took a step back, surveying the damage. "What the hell?"

"You're going to pay for this," he growled, his tone brooking no argument.

Instead of feeling sorry, I hit him hard in the face. I giggled happily, enjoying the look on his face. At that moment, all I noticed was my body movements without controlling them, especially my hand movements to his cheeks. The escort behind him also looked surprised by the way I slapped his boss.

He turned to his men with a snap of his fingers. "Take her to the penthouse. Lock her up."

Once in Luca's house, I was thrown into a lavish room, starkly different from the barren cells I had grown accustomed to. The door clicked shut behind me, sealing my fate. I felt a mix of anger and humiliation as I sank into the plush sofa, the fabric foreign against her skin. By then, I'm back to my usual sense and realize that I ended up in the trap that I built myself. Oh! With the help of alcohol!

Luca entered a moment later, his presence filling the room like a dark cloud. "You've made quite a mess," he said, his voice smooth but laced with an underlying threat. He approached, his eyes locking onto hers with an intensity that made my heart race. "You've damaged my property, and I will make sure you pay dearly."

"What are you talking about?" I shot back, defiance flickering in her chest.

He chuckled darkly, crossing his arms as he leaned against the wall. "Oh, I don't think you understand. It is either you pay back two hundred thousand dollars or you'll work off your debt."

My stomach dropped as realization dawned on me. "What do you mean? How do you expect me to see such a huge amount?"

"You're going to be my maid for a month," he stated, a cruel smile creeping onto his lips. "That's your punishment for the damage you've caused."

My breath caught in her throat. This wasn't how I had envisioned my return to the world. I had dreamed of revenge, of reclaiming my power, and now I'm trapped in a gilded cage, forced to serve the very man who represented everything I despised.

"But I can't! I won't do that!" I protested, her voice rising in desperation.
