It wasn't until today that I discovered the attack that nearly killed me was a vicious scam orchestrated entirely by him!
He married me not out of love, but because he needed a fierce, "perfect meat shield" to take all the fire and arrows for his fragile widowed sister-in-law.
Karin was the true love he had kept hidden in his heart all along. And I? I was just a disgusting breeding machine to him.
That was why, when Karin roasted my beloved pet falcon and served it on the table, he only blamed me for overreacting; When Karin faked a fall in the garden, he didn't hesitate to violently shove me to the ground, leaving my head cracked and bleeding; Even when my father's life hung by a thread, a single fake "chest pain" from Karin was enough for him to scoop her up and walk away, using my father's life to force me into surrogacy!
"Alright, we'll have a proper talk after the banquet tonight," I softly agreed, swallowing the taste of blood in my throat.
He arrogantly believed that I had finally bowed my head, ready to willingly become a surrogate tool for his true love. But he had no idea that the document he had signed without even glancing at it contained the countdown to losing me forever.
At tonight's Pack Banquet, not only will he never have my child...
I will also personally burn his proud world to ashes in front of everyone.

"So, after three years of refusing to touch her, you're finally going to mate with Alia and get her pregnant? I thought the mere sight of her made you sick."
The words bled through the crack of the heavy oak study door, freezing my hand mid-air just as I was about to knock.
Today was our third wedding anniversary. I had spent hours baking my husband, Cason-the ruthless Alpha of the Hatfield Pack-his favorite blackberry tart. I stood outside his study, my heart full of joy, eager to surprise the man I loved more than my own life.
But Cason's voice from inside was cold, calculating, and laced with a bone-chilling indifference.
"I still find her disgusting. But Karin is desperate for a child with the Hatfield bloodline, and her body is far too fragile to endure the pain of pregnancy and childbirth. I can't let my Karin suffer even a little bit."
My heart stopped. Karin. His brother's widow.
"So, your plan is to use your own Luna as a breeding machine?" That was Zane, Cason's Beta and closest confidant. He let out a low whistle. "Damn, Cason. Making Alia carry your pup, only to snatch it away and give it to your sister-in-law? You've reached a whole new level of ruthless. What if Alia finds out?"
"She won't," Cason's tone was as steady as if he were discussing how to dispose of a stray dog. "Alia is blindly devoted to me. I'll tell her that the 'injuries' I suffered back then have finally healed, and we can consummate our bond. She'll be overjoyed. Once the pup is born, I'll just tell her it died during labor, and hand it straight to Karin. Karin will finally get what she wants, and that's all that matters."
A drop of scalding jam dripped onto my wrist, but I felt absolutely nothing. My entire world was plunging into a freezing abyss.
Three years ago, I was ambushed by a pack of vicious rogues in the woods. I was nearly torn to shreds. When I woke up, Cason was by my bedside, tending to me with such devotion that I gave him my heart completely. After we mated, he spoiled me flawlessly. He moved heaven and earth to give me whatever I wanted, making me the most envied Luna in the entire pack.
The only flaw in our perfect life was his claim that his inner wolf was severely injured during that attack, leaving him unable to consummate our bond.
My heart had bled for him. I took all the blame for our lack of pups. I willingly submitted myself to the pack elders' humiliating and agonizing fertility treatments time and time again, drinking vile potions and enduring their scorn, just to protect his pride as an Alpha.
And now... he was planning to manipulate my love for him, force me to endure the agony of a ten-month pregnancy and childbirth, only to steal my baby and play happy family with his widowed sister-in-law?!
"You're a sick bastard, you know that?" Zane chuckled, though there was no real condemnation in his voice. "Three years ago, you orchestrated that entire rogue attack just to play the hero and make her fall for you. If you only ever wanted Karin all along, why go to such lengths?"
My hands began to tremble so violently that the tray rattled. He engineered the attack? The rogues that almost tore my throat out... were sent by him?!
"Karin is too weak. If I made her my Luna directly, the pack elders would have eaten her alive." Cason's voice dripped with heavy disdain. "I needed a Luna with a fierce, dominant personality to draw all their fire and attention. Alia is the perfect meat shield."
The truth hit me like a sledgehammer, brutally shattering my insides.
I thought I was his cherished wife. But in his eyes, I was nothing but a human shield. A disposable womb. A blood bag used to nourish his fragile true love.
"You are really throwing away a treasure," Zane clicked his tongue. "Karin is just an ordinary female, but Alia is different. Ever since you 'saved' her, she's been fiercely loyal to you. And honestly, Alia is an absolute stunner. That body of hers is pure perfection. If she were mine, I'd have her screaming beneath me every single night. How the hell do you manage to keep your hands off her?"
"The mere sight of her makes me sick."
"Fair enough. An Alpha like you has seen it all; naturally, you wouldn't fall for someone like her," Zane sighed. "But still, if you knew back then that you only wanted Karin, why didn't you just snatch your sister-in-law from your brother?"
"Because... she didn't have me in her heart back then."
"Fuck. Who would have thought the ruthless Alpha Cason was actually a lovesick fool? But haven't you ever thought that doing this is completely unfair to Alia?"
After a long, suffocating pause, Cason's voice drifted through the door, carrying a cruelty that crushed my soul into a million jagged pieces.
"Karin is soft. She sheds a single tear, and my wolf goes crazy. She can't handle the slightest grievance. But Alia... she's strong. She can take it."
Those words were a silver blade plunging straight into my heart, leaving my limbs completely numb.
Because I was strong, I deserved to be torn apart by rogues? Because I was brave, I deserved to be humiliated by the elders?
If it weren't for the illusion of Cason's deep love, I wouldn't have tolerated a single day in this feudal nightmare of a pack. I went to hell for him. Yet he was proudly announcing to the world that I was nothing but a breeding pig!
Suddenly, Cason's phone rang inside the room. He answered it briefly. The moment he hung up, my own phone began to vibrate in my pocket.
A wave of panic surged, but I immediately clamped a hand over my phone and forcibly masked my scent, making sure Cason's wolf couldn't detect my presence outside the door.
I swiftly fled the study and slipped back into my room. I casually tossed the blackberry tart next to the trash can.
Only when the heavy bedroom door was shut tight did I answer the call.
"Alia, darling." Cason's voice came through the receiver, dripping with that familiar, sickeningly sweet warmth. It was this very warmth that had deceived me for three whole years. "Head over to the Ancestral Pack House immediately."
My eyes were dead and empty. "Why?" I asked, my voice eerily calm.
"There's no time to explain. I'll see you there, my love."
