Being a normal teen would be easy enough, if you finish school, get a good job, maybe go to college... Though sometimes, things just don't go according to plan.. Life wasn't always as good to Soo Hee. With most of her family already dead, she continues to fight against everything fate throws at her. Though after one fateful night of partying with her best friend, fate may be able to break her after all. Being thrown into a world she's never seen. She finds herself in an auction, people bidding her. She tried to cover her bare body with her hands when she heard that she was sold. Not knowing what to do she was dragged to a car and shipped to Jeon mansion.
"Come on Soo Hee, you promised!" Jennie said as she dragged Soo Hee along and nearly ripped her arm off.
"Yeah, sure I promised, but you didn't say we were going here!" Soo Hee exclaimed as she looked at the busy nightclub.
It wasn't what she had in mind when she agreed to go out with her last weekend. Back then, she was thinking more along the lines of going to the cinema or going out to eat at a restaurant.
The club was in the basement of a building that used to be a red brick office until the current owner of the "Hotpot" bought it a few years ago. The first and second floors were leased to some exclusive fitness center.
They got to the door and Jennie was flashing their fake IDs at the bouncer and a pretty dazzling smile that couldn't even make the bouncer look up from Jennie's cleavage.
When they got inside, Soo Hee headed to the bar, which was very long and kind of circled halfway around the dance floor. She made a beeline for the nearest free stool, to her delight in an almost deserted corner of the bar, hopping onto it before turning back to the mass of convulsing limbs and bodies on the dance floor.
Everything seemed to glow with some bright neon color. She looked around just in time to see Jennie approaching some guy with a flashing neon necklace. It was amazing how quickly she jumped into her surroundings and blended in perfectly.
Soo Hee didn't even wonder how quickly a respectable young woman turned into this senseless dancing creature without any care. One of these days, however, she was to be the death of her. Soo Hee was always the one who worried too much about her. When she saw that Soo Hee was watching her, she quickly headed to the bar to sit on the stool next to her.
"Is not it great?" she shouted over the loud music. Her eyes shone brightly with glee at her surroundings. Her cheerful attitude was the complete opposite of mine.
Great for Soo Hee was something completely different. It was great to sit at home, wrapped in a warm blanket, reading a book and sipping hot tea.
While she wasn't someone who thought a club full of sweaty, aggressively crushing men and women was cool, she could see how attractive it was to her best friend.
It was so alive and full of chaotic madness, it was part of why she loved so much this club full of people. So instead of grumbling, she responded in the cheerful, sassy way she always did in situations like this. "Sure, if you like it when some sweaty guy walks up to you."
Soo Hee ordered a diet soda while Jennie went back to crushing on some other guy and seemingly ended their brief conversation by showing her how much she enjoyed it.
The dance floor looked like some kind of speed grinding competition that she didn't want to be a part of. She grabbed a soda and made her way to one of the lounges in the back of the club.
The music wasn't as loud as the bar, which she was thankful for. She just sat there and watched Jennie and the other people having fun. She wondered how everyone could enjoy it without completely degrading themselves.
After a while, Jennie came up to her and almost threw her onto the dance floor. Soo Hee couldn't help but laugh at her and herself, although the louder she laughed, the less awkward she felt.
After class Soo Hee went back to the lounge while Jennie went back to dancing with some new guy. It was comical as she watched her spin and twist aimlessly as she danced, always enticing another guy to fall in perfect sync with her chaotic movements. Soo Hee watched Jennie as the man approached her.
A flash of panic shot through her.
He must have just walked past her.
Even though no one who sat or stood around her or behind her revealed himself in a decent way. "Hello Gorgeous." He said in a hoarse voice.
He had light brown hair that hung over his face like a veil, with striking green eyes. He was wearing a white button down shirt and black pants. "Hi." Soo Hee helped feebly as he sat next to her.
He seemed out of place as he watched her intently. She looked back at the dance floor, but Jennie was nowhere to be seen. The look he gave her made Soo Hee feel uncomfortable.
Did she really expect to talk to such a creature? Sure, men weren't that big of a problem for her, even though she didn't really care much about them. She didn't feel the need to be in a relationship, nor did she want to be. But this hunk of a man sitting next to her seemed out of her league. Well, let's just say she wouldn't even be on his radar even if he rejected him. Not that she wasn't good looking, she was average, very decent. To sum up, she was always easy to find. Although she was snapped out of her thoughts when he opened his mouth again to speak. "So what's your name? My name is Trent." He said with a simple smile.
"Uh, my name is Soo Hee," She said, unable to tear her eyes from his.
"Come on Soo Hee! We're leaving.", Soo Hee heard Jennie say shaking her shoulder.
"I, uh, gotta go," Soo Hee stuttered to Trent who was still staring at her.
He was starting to scare her, he never even blinked. Soo Hee got up and followed Jennie out. "Why are we leaving?" She asked as we left the club.
"Because we've been there for over 3 hours and I'm on fire here." She replied as she pulled her along.
Soo Hee saw a group of guys following them down a dark street. She didn't notice them until she heard footsteps behind them. She felt fear rise inside her as Jennie pulled her into a dark alley. Soo Hee froze as they stood huddled in the shadows waiting for a group of men to pass them. They were about to step back into the light when they heard new footsteps quickly approaching.
"I thought they went this way," they heard someone say.
"Don't think, you idiot! It's a wonder you stupid people haven't died yet!", another guy said sharply.
"But I-"
"Shut up!" Soo Hee heard the other guy exclaim in exasperation.
She froze when she noticed him staring into the shadows where Jennie and she huddled together.
