Growing up, Nova always felt different from the other Omegas. She was strong, quick, and unafraid to speak her mind. Everything changed when she turned 18 and unlocked her wolf, discovering that she was far more powerful than anyone had realized, and learning the truth about her secret heritage. Alpha Dorian Blackthorn has been searching for his mate for four long years, ever since he became the leader of the Obsidian Moon Pack, the most powerful pack in North America. His search leads him to a distant pack, where he finds Nova being mistreated by an elder, with no one willing to intervene. Will Dorian reject Nova because she's an Omega, or will he embrace her as his true mate and protect her from those who wish to harm her?

Chapter 1 1

Nova had always known she was different. Growing up in the small, quiet pack nestled in the hills of Northern California, she had never fit the mold of a typical Omega. While most Omegas were gentle, reserved, and focused on supporting the pack, Nova was bold, brash, and always willing to challenge the status quo. She could run faster than most of the younger wolves, her strength was unmatched for her age, and her tongue was sharp, often speaking truths others were too afraid to utter.

Her mother had always told her that she was special. "Your wolf is waiting, Nova," she'd say, brushing Nova's hair from her forehead with a tender smile. "One day, you'll understand why you're different. Until then, remember your strength and your heart."

But Nova had never understood. She had often felt like an outcast, even among the other Omegas. There were whispers about her-a strange feeling she couldn't shake that perhaps they knew something she didn't. It wasn't until her eighteenth birthday that the truth of it all came crashing down on her like a thunderstorm.

The night of her birthday was like any other in the pack. The moon was full, casting a silvery light over the dense forest that surrounded their territory. It was a time for celebration, but Nova felt a strange unease settle in her chest. Her mind had been preoccupied with the idea that something was coming. Something that would change everything.

Her father, the Alpha of the pack, had been distant lately, and she had caught him whispering with the Elders more often than usual. They spoke of things Nova couldn't quite understand-ancient prophecies, bloodlines, and the power of the wolf. But every time she tried to ask him, he would dismiss her, a look of worry crossing his face. It made her feel even more isolated.

That night, after the pack's celebration had died down, Nova retreated to the quiet forest at the edge of their territory. She needed to clear her mind, to calm the restlessness that had taken hold of her. The air was thick with the scent of pine and earth, and the soft rustle of leaves filled her ears. She closed her eyes, letting the sounds of the forest wash over her.

Her heart began to race. There was something in the air tonight, something electric. A tingle ran up her spine, and she felt the familiar tug at her chest-her wolf, stirring for the first time.

It had always been there, deep inside her, but tonight it was different. The bond she'd shared with her wolf all these years, though faint, was suddenly stronger than ever. Her body seemed to vibrate with energy, and without thinking, she dropped to her hands and knees. A low growl rumbled in her chest, the first sound she had ever heard from her wolf.

"Nova," a voice whispered inside her mind, deep and ancient, yet full of power. Her wolf was speaking to her.

The ground beneath her seemed to shift, the earth itself vibrating in response to her awakening. Her body trembled as the change began, her bones shifting and reshaping, her senses heightening. For the first time in her life, Nova felt complete.

She let out a sharp cry as the transformation overtook her, her human form melding with her wolf. Her fur, the color of midnight, gleamed under the moonlight. Her senses were heightened-she could smell the distant scent of a deer in the forest, hear the rustling of a fox, and see every detail in the forest with perfect clarity.

Her wolf, the fierce creature she had always suspected was inside her, now fully awakened, stood proud within her. But there was something more. A surge of power, ancient and untamed, flowed through her veins. This wasn't just an ordinary wolf-this was something different. She was more than she had ever imagined.

The moment was interrupted by a sudden, urgent feeling. A presence in the distance. It was familiar, but it also sent a wave of unease crashing through her. A wolf-no, a pack-was approaching. The Alpha.

Nova stood on shaky legs, her mind racing. She had never met another Alpha before, but the power emanating from the approaching presence was unmistakable. The Alpha was coming for her.

Before she could think, her wolf lunged forward, her instincts taking over. Her body moved effortlessly, the ground beneath her feet becoming a blur as she raced toward the source of the feeling. The Alpha was close.

Dorian Blackthorn, Alpha of the Obsidian Moon Pack, stood silently at the edge of the forest, his eyes scanning the land before him. The moon hung high in the sky, casting a silvery glow across the dense trees. His pack was strong, one of the largest and most dominant in the North American territories, but tonight, something felt different.

His search had brought him here, to a small pack at the edge of their territory. He had received whispers of a rare wolf-an Omega with power that was said to rival any Alpha. His instincts had been drawn to this pack for months, and tonight, on the eve of his return from a neighboring pack, he was certain he would find her.

Her scent hit him first. Sweet, with a hint of something wild-untamed and pure. His wolf stirred within him, excited by the prospect of finally finding his mate. His heart raced as he followed the scent, his feet moving faster as the feeling grew stronger.

And then he saw her.

She was standing at the edge of the forest, her midnight-black fur shimmering under the light of the full moon. Her eyes, bright and filled with intensity, locked onto his. She was magnificent, a creature of beauty and power, but it was the recognition that struck him hardest. The pull between them, undeniable and all-consuming.

This was his mate.

But before he could move, something shifted in the air-a disturbance. His eyes narrowed. Another presence, older, more sinister, had entered the clearing. It was an elder from the pack, one of their most respected members. But the elder was not here for a peaceful meeting. He was here for Nova.

Dorian's wolf growled, a low, guttural sound that rumbled through his chest. He could sense the tension between them-the elder's intention was clear. He was not here to protect Nova; he was here to suppress her. Dorian's heart tightened with fury.

Without thinking, he stepped forward, his powerful form emerging from the shadows. The elder turned sharply, his eyes widening in recognition, but it was too late. Dorian's dominance surged forward, overwhelming the elder's presence.

"Leave her be," Dorian commanded, his voice low and dangerous.

The elder bristled, but he knew better than to challenge an Alpha of Dorian's caliber. With a final, lingering glance at Nova, he bowed his head in submission and retreated into the shadows, disappearing into the night.

Dorian turned his attention back to Nova, his heart pounding in his chest. Her eyes were wide, her breath coming in quick, shallow gasps. She stood before him, trembling slightly, but there was no fear in her gaze-only defiance and power.

He took a step forward, his voice gentle but firm. "Nova," he said, his tone soft, as if he were speaking to a delicate creature. "You don't have to be afraid. I'm here now."

She didn't speak at first. Instead, she stepped closer to him, her eyes searching his face as though looking for something-answers, maybe, or reassurance. Her wolf was still there, alive and powerful within her.

Dorian held out his hand. "Come with me, Nova. You don't belong here with them. You belong with me, where you'll be protected, where you'll be cherished."

Her gaze flickered between his hand and his face. Dorian's heart raced, hoping for a response, for the confirmation he needed.

Finally, she spoke, her voice hoarse but steady. "I don't know who I am yet," she whispered. "I don't know what I'm meant to be."

Dorian smiled softly, his heart swelling with something he couldn't quite explain. "Then let me show you," he said. "Let me show you who you truly are."
