Serena point of view.
I couldn't believe what the Moon Goddess was telling me. It was a lie. I couldn't have a mate, it was impossible.
It was then that I looked over my shoulder at the one that stood behind me. The one that was supposed to be with me, to love me, and protect me. He was nothing but a cruel Alpha who never gave a damn about me.
I heard him growl from across the room, his anger seeping in as he realized who was talking to me. I didn't even care though because my heart hurt, my soul aching from hearing his words.
"What the hell is going on here?" He snarled, striding forward and coming to a stop next to me.
"You know who this is?" The Goddess asked, her voice almost taunting.
"You don't even deserve to breathe the same air as her." I spat, stepping in front of my mate. My alpha.
"What are you talking about?" He asked, cocking his head. He didn't know. I almost felt bad for him, but I knew better.
"Ezra..." The Moon Goddess began, "... you know that this is not the right time, but I will tell you anyway. She is yours."
"She is?" He snarled.
I let out a laugh, turning around and looking at my alpha.
"He's talking about Marissa." I said softly, meeting his gold eyes. "His true love."
He grimaced at my words, and then shook his head.
"What the hell?" He whispered, his eyes widening.
"I can't tell you the future, but you cannot reject her bond. If you do, your wolf will die. The only way I can give you a way out of this bond is if you are able to hold off until the crescent moon."
"So?"
"If you can do that, then I will allow you to sever the bond between you two. Your wolf will live, but he will never be mated again. And I don't think it would be right for either of you to be without a mate." The Goddess said slowly, looking between the two of us.
"You're going to let him sever the bond?" I snarled, anger boiling inside of me.
"Yes."
I let out a loud growl, feeling my wolf claw at me. She wanted out. She wanted to tear Ezra apart, and I had a feeling that I wasn't going to stop her.
Ezra stepped in front of me, growling low at me and pulling my attention away from the Goddess.
"What the hell are you doing?" He snarled at me, his eyes narrowing.
"My mate isn't my true partner." I growled back, shoving him. "And now you're going to sever our bond? I'm not sure what you're doing. You are one messed up wolf, Ezra. You're blind to the fact that Marissa will never love you."
I said, stepping back and crossing my arms.
"I can't reject you now. I have to accept you as my mate until the crescent moon." He whispered, grabbing me and pushing me against the wall.
"You have to." I growled, shoving him away from me. "But it doesn't mean you want to."
"What the fuck am I supposed to do?" He snarled, looking at the Goddess for help. "How am I supposed to hold out for that long?"
She looked at us for a moment, and then shook her head. "I'll figure it out and let you know." She said, waving her hand.
I watched her disappear, and then felt Ezra's hands on me. He gripped me hard, pulling me against him. I could feel his hardness against my belly, and I pushed away from him.
"No." I gasped, pulling away from him. "I won't have sex with you. I don't want to mate with you."
"You won't?" He growled low, his body beginning to tremble.
I shook my head and stepped back, not stopping until I was as far away from him as possible. "No." I whispered.
"Serena."
I shook my head, backing away from him even more. "No."
"Fine." He snarled low, running a hand through his black hair. "I don't really want to have sex with you anyway."
My heart felt like it had shattered. I let out a growl, and then turned and ran from the room. I heard him snarl behind me, and then his footsteps following me.
I didn't care though. I just wanted to get back to the pack.
I ran for hours, letting my wolf finally take over. When I finally felt his breath on my back, I slowed, letting him catch up.
"What the hell did you just do?" He snarled as he caught up.
"What?" I snapped back, whirling around and facing him. "You're the one who rejected me."
"I'm not rejecting you right now!" He snarled, grabbing my throat and pinning me to a tree. "I'm not going to reject you until the crescent moon!"
"Well I'm rejecting you!" I snapped, shoving him back.
"You can't do that. The bond is already made!" He growled low.
I felt his scent flood my nose, and my wolf snarl as we both leaned in, letting our mouths meet for the first time.
I was a bitch to my alpha's mate. I had always known that there was no other man for him, and that he would never love me.
He had told me that on several occasions, and now it was time for me to move on. I would never forget the lessons he had taught me though, the way he had made me feel.
